Most of the video is just you reading out/explaining what each of the Keepsakes do, however it misses a lot of important information. Boons no longer keep the effect after being switched out, so if you're using Thanatos' keepsake, you need it on for the full run to get it's full effect. I'd like to offer a few critiques to this video and add a few tips myself. 1.) *This video under-estimates the value of skull earring quite a bit.* Sure, you aren't going to benefit from the keepsake constantly. But if you aren't hit often, you'll be hitting bosses hard while you're within that 30% range. Keep in mind, you have 3 Death Defiance, which means you'll have 4 opportunities to be within that range. And considering you only recover 50% of your health per DD (usually), you'll often find yourself staying within that range quite a bit when fighting Hades. Skull earring is great for players who want a hefty damage boost for the Hades boss fight, and haven't been using Pierced Butterfly. It's true that you won't consistently benefit from the earrings - but why "force" yourself into the lower 30% when you can simply use the keepsake as a backup for when you do fall into the red? It's not a very good keepsake for players who find themselves getting hit often - but it's great for players who are only occasionally hit. 2.) *The bonuses gained from Pierced Butterfly is lost when the item is unequipped, and equipping the item later means you benefit less from it.* In other words, you want to equip this keepsake from either the very start of the game or the second level - keeping in mind that it's easiest to dodge attacks and boost the keepsake in the 1st level. It's a great keepsake, but you're at the mercy of the game when it comes to boons. This is not a good keepsake for people who want specific builds. Guaranteeing a specific god shows up once for a chance of the boon you need wouldn't be all that great. *However, equipping their keepsake guarantees they'll show up throughout the rest of the run.* As you play through Hades, you will see boons appear for 4 different gods (with the exception of Hermes and Chaos). Once you obtain boons from those 4 different gods, you will not see boons from any other gods unless you force them to appear using a keepsake. This is to allow players to work off of their pre-existing boons. Without this mechanic, it would be far too difficult to create powerful builds. When you use a God keepsake and the god appears, then they become a part of the god pool! Want to make a Poseidon build? Equip his keepsake to guarantee he'll be one of the 4 gods in the god pool! I used to ignore god boons because I didn't realize there was a god pool that naturally stopped after 4 different gods gave you there boons (again, exceptions with Hermes and Chaos). Using God keepsakes allowed me to create incredibly fun builds - some of them insanely broken. When he says there are better keepsakes - that's only true if you aren't going for specific builds. If you're going for specific builds, these keepsakes are practically necessary. 4.) *When to use Lucky Tooth, Spiked Collar, Myrmidon Bracer, or Lucky Acorn?* Legacy Gaming didn't elaborate, but he was right to say Lucky Tooth is great when players do not have 3 Death Defiance. When players do have 3 Death defiance, they'll usually benefit more from Spiked Collar. This is because Lucky tooth revives you once with 50 HP, whereas Spiked Collar will give you an additional 50 HP, then an additional 25 HP per Death Defiance use. Also, keep in mind that fountains restore health based off a percentage of your total - so Spiked Collar will also help you heal more at fountains! Myrmidon Bracer is great if you find yourself with a lot of HP - because it can easily reduce more damage than what HP you'd gain from the aforementioned keepsakes. I'd estimate that you'd benefit more from Myrmidon bracer if you find yourself with more than 200/225 HP. Evergreen Acorn is specifically for bosses, which is great because Bosses are generally the ones to kill players (namely Hades). Hades can hit for 60 damage with his spear. With a fully upgraded Acorn blocking 5 hits, assuming the first 5 attacks to strike you are from his spear, that's 300 damage prevented! And if you're playing on a higher heat where his attacks do more damage.... woah boy, this keepsake is AMAZING. Sure, it's not doing anything for you "most of the time", but it does A LOT for you when you (generally) need it most! I'm still trying to think of a way in which Broken Spearpoint is of much use. I find that getting hit multiple times in a row doesn't happen all that often - though I believe it may be much better in Hell mode where you have a pact (that can not be toggled off) that removes your invincibility frames. I also read comments where it can be useful for "revenge" attacks as well as mitigate a lot of magma damage. It's still a bit too niche for me, but all of that is definitely worth mentioning.
Skull earrings is actually pretty easy to utilize. Dionysius has a boon which allows you to take less damage when at low HP and if you use the "1 death defy per encounter" instead of the "3 death defies", then you can easily keep your health low, as the 1 per encounter restores you to 30% instead of the 50% you get otherwise.
If you can beat Hades without death defiances then you don't even need to worry what to take because you are just pro. The other defiance seems shit to me because I almost never die in a run then at Hades bossfight after he goes super saiyan I lose 2 death defiances every time
One thing I haven't noticed people bringing up is that the Bone Hourglass keepsake has a nice loophole. If you have it on and get to the next biome, spend your Obels in the fountain room to utilise the bonus and then you can switch out your keepsake and the bonus still applies. It doesn't have to be equipped to keep the extra perk. And another tip I found out at the same time is that you can buy all three Well of Charon bonuses and then reroll to get another three to buy as well.
I use Charon bow and here are mine for builds Tartarus: Artemis, get deadly flourish Asphodel: if you don’t have divine dash use Athena to get That. If you have it already put on Dionysus and Get strong drink, and the other way around, then for the rest acorn because of obvious reasons
Pierced Butterfly is usually ranked pretty low by most good players because 1. if you unequip it, all of the bonus you earned will disappear and 2. if you're good enough to not get hit throughout the game, then you don't need the pitiful attack increase
I usually equip the owl to get some sort of deflect on either my dash or main attack and then use the the one from persephone. It can really ramp up your build in the end area.
Here I am trying to save 500 darkness for a another second life, and I can use skelly's lucky tooth instead whilst levelling up other stats. Going to try that next, it seems very handy
Just go in with Chiron bow and farm Meg for darkness ( Chiron bow is a weapon aspect legacy gaming made a guide on those) I think lucky tooth is really good but only if you are planning to make a run after Tartarus, personally, if I’m making real runs, I use the God’s keepsake of which my build is around, for example, dash build with Athena, cast with Demeter, etc. Lucky tooth is worse then cythonic coin purse is the best for early game, gives so much before you can get the coin upgrades in mirror, I personally think the best is the acorn because it makes the Theseus fight a breeze!
Choosing achiles keepsake over the tooth kinda depends on how much health you have. If you're fighting hades with 150 health you're reducing each 30 damage hit by 6. That'll reduce 30 damage going in at full health. The tooths death defiance gives you more than that.
I have all keepsakes fully leveled and also feel like the bracer is probably the most OP as far as a defensive build is concerned. The amount of damage most people will mitigate with it outweighs the 50 hp from an extra death defiance of the tooth.
Honestly, lucky tooth is my favorite. My second favorite is the collar which increases health. Dash is your best bet in this game. So, if you dash and have thos equipped your health bar will stay up. My tops to equip are the feather duster, the tooth, the shackle, the helmet, and hermes keepsake. That's it. Haha Sometimes the egg. When I wanna get whatever chaos has. Sometimes Hypnos keepsake.
Spoiler coming: Don’t mind what he says about the skull earring, the spear’s 4th aspect gives you a life rip on its spin attack giving you 1 health each time it hits an enemy therefore giving an amazing way to keep your health where you want it, as long as you deal damage doesn’t matter if it’s armored or not you heal
Oh, it does? Lol. I completed a run with Guan Yu without utilizing the spin attack at all. Easy survival with the Broken Spearpoint. I only need about 60 HP more or less.
@@SUSHI4lyf yeah the game doesn’t make it clear you have to read about the aspect in the boon menu, it’s actually a really good aspect if you get good with using the spin attack
In my opinion the best keepsake is the Lambent Plume, especially effective used along with the twin fists of Aspect of Zagreus, you can easly get 35/40% evasion rate that is huge, also if you are lucky and get a epic greater evasion from hermes you can reach a crazy 60% evasion along with other damage reductions boons will make you almost untouchable on the latest and harder bosses of the game.
It's a decent option for players, I'll give you that, and may be more beneficial long term, but I would rather do more damage and get better at dodging, than have to rely on less damage and more dodging/avoidance. Just a personal opinion though.
@@LegacyGamingUS Of course other keepsakes may let do more damage, for that purpose my favorite keepsake is the plom bossom that give you Persephone, cause it's effective with every weapon. But damage mostly depends on luck, until now my fastest run is with this evasive configuration cause you don't care much about avoiding taking damage, you smash everything and passives do the job for you.
Black shawl + achilles spear is incredible! Stack that with Athena’s exposed debuff and you have a solid build. Just dash behind the enemy with achilles’ special and stab from behind
@@SeraphsWitness I was just about to say this. spam special and you always get a backstab on the return. I like putting weaken or hangover on the spear special too so it backstabs and adds DoT and debuffs in higher levels. If you pick up one of the limited use accessories that also boost damage against unharmed enemies/backstab, you will 1 break through armor in1 or 2 hits most times. Spear is easy mode for me
When we reach the max affection with someone, the keepsake mention it with a "icon" of the character on it. Does it really do nothing else? Is it purely cosmethic and for the lore?
Shattered Shackle - You CAN use boons with this. It works for each slot. Meaning u can still stack up on Dash, Call, etc. boons and u still get 100% more damage for your attack, special & cast from Shattered Shackle. If i'd want to use a Boon for let's say Cast, it only looses it's effectiveness for that specific slot. U can still also use enhancements for attacks etc, as long as it doesn't go in the attack slot. For example; Chaos, Hermes, Hammers or any other misc. This one can actually make for pretty fun runs.
Its actually a rly Fun one, and i used it to get My first wins with nearly every weapon, very interesting to start out super strong and taking generic boons like evasion Or crit is decent enough, at least if you are not using heat
the acorn is my fav cuz its just that good. five free hits when fighting bosses when max upgraded. if you've played for long enough its easy to see the patterns in monster and boss attacks and most of the time you take the biggest hits on boss fights, especially if you have the extreme measures condition which changes up boss patters and adds newer patterns to their attacks.
I think you're are undervaluing the black shawl. I've found it really easy to get some sort of increase to damage radius. Most the time, I'm not even trying for the back, but my AOE will hit and give me the bonus. Though weapons without the AOE are a little harder to use with it
Maybe I am, I think the Black Shawl is fine, but it requires a change in mindset and play style to use right. That’s not a bad thing, just not the most accessible.
Black Shawl I found very useful for the Spear because you are gauranteed a backstab either from the initial throw or when calling the spear back. You can dish out some insane damage with Backstab + Crit boosts to the Spear special + the Darkness boosts to backstab damage.
I don't know if I necessarily agree with this. I've been pushing myself to keep Pierced Butterfly through the end of Elysium, but I realize that's not practical for everyone.
@@LegacyGamingUS kinda decreases the value then. Sure, definitely works well and you can get a nice damage boost, but if you stall, best to switch off it early since chambers don't really get easier.
I don’t have the keepsake change imbetween areas yet but if I had to do a combo I’d say owl pendant in Tartarus then old spiked collar the rest of the time
I have always used pirced butterfly for the first 2 regions, then when I'm about to head into Elysium I (almost) everytime use Lucky Tooth, kinda like an insurance lol.
Question: If you start off the run with the +50 health and then after clearing the first area and changing it to another, would you keep the benefits of the first one? Thanks for the detailed video it was very helpfull
Any Intelligent Player either Runs Lambent Plume the Entire Run, OR ( Depending on Weapon ) , you either Run Athena Or Chaos for Tartarus because it usually gives you useless Gems or Darkness and you can skip it for a good cost benefit boost before it becomes slightly harder . Deflect is the best by far. The acorn Is a Meme. Lucky Tooth Is nice if you're a noob for a last swap. I ALWAYS get the Elysium (!) To restock D.D. because you have to smash yourself into the Bosses Early, then bet technical for the last one . ZEUS is best to stack with Himself. ATHENA is best for Attack or Dash. POSIDEN And ATHENA are best Calls . APHRODITE Is best Cast for both Burst and Item Synergy, but Zeus is best for Coear .
Question for the Gods Keepsake, So I'm doing a run with Ares keepsake but I keep running into other boons such as Artemis or Demeter etc etc... My question: Does the Keepsake from any olympian God make it so that you run into that boon 100% of the time or does it just increase the chance of it showing up?
It just guarantees that the next boon you find will be from that god. Additionally with each level of the keepsake it increases the chance to get a higher rarity boon option. This applies every time you find that god’s boon.
If you equip a god keepsake after tartarus, you can actually get offered the wrong god sometimes, especially Hermies, but he will say something like, I know you are waiting for X but I'm faster, then the desired god appears in next room.
@@Kletian999 ok so here's a situation from my understanding: From the beginning say I have Ares keepsake 100% I get Ares from the start, along the way in Tartarus I come across a Zues boon. Will the next boon after that be an Ares boon?
@@GhostWalk530 if you equip the Zeus's keepsake at the start of a run, the run begins with Zeus or a hammer with zeus as the next boon room that pops. If you equip zeus after meg, the next boon room is sometimes not zeus, but he will appear shortly afterward.
It only works for the first time a boon is available. Other than that, you'll get a random boon. You may just happen upon a random boon from that god. However, if another boon from that God does show up after the initial one received, it still has the rarity chance increase.
i have 40 hours and i still missing patroclus' keepsake. This is probably one of my favorite games but after 50 escape attempts and finishing the main story, its getting a little repetitious
I agree the last two keepsakes are pretty incredible, but by that point they don’t get much use. They’re valuable, but you’re totally right about their validity
@@LegacyGamingUS I wouldn't say they're not that useful, especially Persephone's one. Seriously, that Broken Spearpoint should be top tier. You just have to know how to use it. And no, I disagree with what you said about it only for people who are "prone to getting hit". Being a good dodger + this = practically invincible/invulnerable
When you switch off from pierced butterfly, does the bonus damage that you have accumulated stay but you just can't earn more or does the effect gets removed completely?
if you use the butterfly for the first few encounters and then switch the keepsake to the collar for the next levels.. will you loose that damage % increase you had with the butterfly keepsake equipped ?
Alright video. I am annoyed though that when talking about the keepsakes that you referenced stats at difference star ratings. Example lucky tooth at 1 star and myrmidon bracer at 3 star. If someone watched this just starting the game the advice is a bit misleading. Sticking with lucky tooth, at 3 star it refills health to 100%. This is the same as 2 death defiance.
It doesn't heal to 100% it heals 100 hp flat, the health you have doesn't matter, It will always heal you up to 100 at 3 stars as long as you have 100 max hp or more
Wait does the effects of these Keepsakes stay after you take them off? like if I get the butterfly one in my first underworld clear then take it off do I still have the bonus damage?
I agree. I will say however, that one upside to it is that if you really enjoy playing the game with a certain god's boons, it does set you up nicely. For instance, the god that makes your attacks reflect is very powerful and I've noticed that I almost never have a bad run when using her boons. Since the game narrows your boon selection in on the first 4 or so gods that you pick up, you are sure to get a lot of your keepsake god's boons.
Now that I've played the game more, I rescind my original comment 😂 I like how the God-specific boons allow me to set up a build. I use them very often.
@@samanderson1650 They're also super useful to fulfill certain prophecies (good luck obtaining these last duo/legendary boons through sheer luck) and to meet specific gods when it is required to progress the story. It certainly would be doable without the keepsakes, but how long would it take?
Kind of. If you switch God keepsakes in between Biomes, it gives you that God's boon at the earliest possible point, but it's not always the very first room. For example, if you have the Thunder Signet on when leaving the House of Hades, you'll usually get a Zeus boon right at the start of the run, but there is a chance you'll get a Daedalus hammer instead.
it's been 27 hours but I couldn't figure out how to use ambrosia. I gave the nacters till the locked hearts came up but after that there's nothing. please help
progress the story. talk to Meg/Thanatos/Achilles/Orpheus/Eurydice/Patroclus, unlock the records room, buy Lounge stuff at the contractor, max level the sword for Skelly, and maybe make sure you've gotten every boon a god has to offer (not sure what the unlock is for Gods)
Can someone help me? I can’t give nectar to hades, even though I have unlocked the second half of the hearts and completed the game so many times. The option just never comes

I also read comments where it can be useful for "revenge" attacks as well as mitigate a lot of magma damage. It's still a bit too niche for me, but all of that is definitely worth mentioning.
You can find nectar from infernal troves very rarely
WHAT? What is the percent thats huge
Oh the farming potential that has
@@W-mans26 chill lol
I feel like I got it pretty often, but it always confused me on how it appeared.
Yea replaying on my ps4 and noticed that too. Pretty great when you need one.
If you switch Keepsakes and unequip the Pierced Butterfly, you will lose the bonus...
Yepppp, didn’t realize this honestly. Pretty rattled about it 😋
Same for Hermes Keepsake, which I sadly learned today.
@@LegacyGamingUS Did you do any actual research for this video? This whole thing is full of stuff that is just completely incorrect.
@@jackfate6806 this dude doesnt even have all the keepsakes to make this video and half the ones he does have are 1 star lmao
Yeah i didnt realize it it either after 36 hours but ty. This makes my run more sense guess. Gotta go beast mode
I too like to live on the edge.
For Tartarus I use the Chaos keepsake... and then after I use Charons keepsake... because those well buffs with a maxed out hourglass are insane.
I use Charon bow and here are mine for builds
Tartarus: Artemis, get deadly flourish
Asphodel: if you don’t have divine dash use Athena to get That.
You compare your 1 star keepsakes to your 3 stars ones
Most irritating part of the video
I usually equip the owl to get some sort of deflect on either my dash or main attack and then use the the one from persephone. It can really ramp up your build in the end area.
Divine dash is the best boon in the game in my opinion
@@W-mans26 it really is
Just a reminder that all the boost keepsakes’ buffs only last until you switch keepsakes. You can’t buff up and switch keepsakes unfortunately.
Here I am trying to save 500 darkness for a another second life, and I can use skelly's lucky tooth instead whilst levelling up other stats. Going to try that next, it seems very handy
Just go in with Chiron bow and farm Meg for darkness ( Chiron bow is a weapon aspect legacy gaming made a guide on those)
I think lucky tooth is really good but only if you are planning to make a run after Tartarus, personally, if I’m making real runs, I use the God’s keepsake of which my build is around, for example, dash build with Athena, cast with Demeter, etc.
Lucky tooth is worse then cythonic coin purse is the best for early game, gives so much before you can get the coin upgrades in mirror, I personally think the best is the acorn because it makes the Theseus fight a breeze!
Everything I need to know is: keepsakes hold power
Choosing achiles keepsake over the tooth kinda depends on how much health you have.
If you're fighting hades with 150 health you're reducing each 30 damage hit by 6. That'll reduce 30 damage going in at full health. The tooths death defiance gives you more than that.
If you take off the butterfly one I believe your damage buff will also be off
You’re correct. A few people have mentioned that in the comments, but it’s worth pointing out again so new players don’t forget.
Using the acorn while I work through several playthroughs and collect diamonds, blood, etc. But I love Achilles bracer
Spoiler coming:
Don’t mind what he says about the skull earring, the spear’s 4th aspect gives you a life rip on its spin attack giving you 1 health each time it hits an enemy therefore giving an amazing way to keep your health where you want it, as long as you deal damage doesn’t matter if it’s armored or not you heal
Watched this video before I knew anything about the game, watching this now after completing heat 13 and this makes a lot more sense now haha
You don't even need achilles' spear for that. The spear special attack always does backstab damage on the way back.
Idk if you have completed affection certain ones like charon give a rare thing Charon gives you extra boosts
Love this vid, so precise and clear. After 1 year still need to get some tips after picking up the game again. The game is fun but hard lol.
take the coin purrse when you go to elysium and (if you have midas touch) you get a nice payout at the end
I don't know if I necessarily agree with this. I've been pushing myself to keep Pierced Butterfly through the end of Elysium, but I realize that's not practical for everyone.
@@LegacyGamingUS oh, i know., it's just a nice combo i do to get extra money at the final shop
@@LegacyGamingUS i usually use athenas keepsake first and then switch to either hermes or persephone's keepsake. sometimes artemis'
@@eth_r1 Just take the coin purse in Tartarus where it's the easiest then switch to your actual build after that zone. You'll retain your gold.
Do you keep the effects of pierced butterfly that you gain after you switch off of the keepsake?
Nope! Just learnt that the other day actually
@@LegacyGamingUS kinda decreases the value then. Sure, definitely works well and you can get a nice damage boost, but if you stall, best to switch off it early since chambers don't really get easier.
@@derekdrake3952 If you're finding that you're just not ramping enough, sometimes its worth replacing around world 3 or 4.
Hades doesn't even wanna accept my nectar anymore 💀 my guy's really good at denying my affection
And can you make a video on how to properly build in hades
please remake the video with all the facts you missed and all the keepsakes maxed
I gave Hades nectar early in early access, but I can’t give him anymore, so now I wonder if I locked myself out of his keepsake.
Progress the storyline towards the epilogue you’ll eventually be able to gift him nectar again after you get the true ending
I don’t have the keepsake change imbetween areas yet but if I had to do a combo I’d say owl pendant in Tartarus then old spiked collar the rest of the time
black shawl is really good with aspect of achillies spear
You can switch keepsakes during runs if you have it unlocked.
You should explain their abilities as if they were all level 3 not just what you have
I just use the one from Cerberus. Extra health baby!
I have always used pirced butterfly for the first 2 regions, then when I'm about to head into Elysium I (almost) everytime use Lucky Tooth, kinda like an insurance lol.
I need help with hades Keepsake. I already give nectar. :(
Is the one missing
need to defeat hades first, then give him nectar
The only keepsake that you can swap out without losing its effect is the coin purse
Pierced butterflies effect doesn't stay after you take it off, same with Hermes
Question for the Gods Keepsake,
So I'm doing a run with Ares keepsake but I keep running into other boons such as Artemis or Demeter etc etc...
My question:
Does the Keepsake from any olympian God make it so that you run into that boon 100% of the time or does it just increase the chance of it showing up?
It just guarantees that the next boon you find will be from that god. Additionally with each level of the keepsake it increases the chance to get a higher rarity boon option. This applies every time you find that god’s boon.
If you equip a god keepsake after tartarus, you can actually get offered the wrong god sometimes, especially Hermies, but he will say something like, I know you are waiting for X but I'm faster, then the desired god appears in next room.
@@Kletian999 ok so here's a situation from my understanding:
From the beginning say I have Ares keepsake 100% I get Ares from the start, along the way in Tartarus I come across a Zues boon.
Thanks for the video! :)
Any idea how to unlock secret stashes?
Need to keep bonuses and or have multiple keepsakes and improve the worst ones. I just seem to use my mums lvling keepsake much better than others…

i have 40 hours and i still missing patroclus' keepsake. This is probably one of my favorite games but after 50 escape attempts and finishing the main story, its getting a little repetitious
I found myself writing sticky notes, as old school as that sounds, because I was the same way!
You need to open patroclus' entry in the codex before you can give him nectar.
@@johngestupa5717 oh my god is that what the holdup was, I feel stupid

I agree the last two keepsakes are pretty incredible, but by that point they don’t get much use. They’re valuable, but you’re totally right about their validity
Oh thats the last keepsake, I was wondering who I forgot...
@@LegacyGamingUS I wouldn't say they're not that useful, especially Persephone's one.
It doesn't heal to 100% it heals 100 hp flat, the health you have doesn't matter, It will always heal you up to 100 at 3 stars as long as you have 100 max hp or more
Hello mate. Did you said if I will use pierced butterfly, and later I will swap it to other Keepsake, will I have this +DMG % untouched ?
Unfortunately I was wrong about that point, if you want the effect you have to keep the keepsake on the whole time
@@LegacyGamingUS Thanks bro. Still it's a great video, and I hope you will make more soon. Best wishes to you
Wait does the effects of these Keepsakes stay after you take them off? like if I get the butterfly one in my first underworld clear then take it off do I still have the bonus damage?
Kind of wish they had given the God-specific keepsakes more unique qualities, like Hermes. The guaranteed boon is kind of meh.

From certain characters after you give them enough nectar and then 1 ambrosia You can look up specifics on the wiki
This game pissed me off cause I had the Chaos keepsake and not a single one spawned but as soon as I took it a off my next room had a chaos gate
If you switch to anothers god keepsake in between bioms, does it guarantee that god next room? I always try, but I never seem to get the god I want.
I don’t have the game but from gameplay I’ve seen I’m pretty sure there’s no guarantee just the next time you get a boon from that god keepsake.
