    I think my most ran keepsake by far is Lambent Plume.
    +1.2% dodge and movement speed for every fast room clear is like a blessing by the time I reach the final boss, as I usually have over 25% dodge chance. This is made even more useful when combined with Greater Evasion, and even more so with Gloves.
    Of course one could say I just love RNG dictating whether I get hit or not.

      It would be cool but to use it properly you have to equip it from start to the end so you can't manipulate your build with gods keepsake and this is very bad.

    • @Rosmarus_Odobenus
      @Rosmarus_Odobenus Год назад +9

      I tried that strategy for a while but I made the mistake of going all in on evasion, not realising that it's diminishing returns, the more evasion-type boons you have. I got as far as 30% from the plume, 25 from Hermes and 15 from the gloves but Hades still hit me in all the crucial moments. If we're going for long-term boni, Thanatos' keepsake is a much safer bet, I think. Even 20% of bonus damage is pretty rad and still very doable with a ranged build.

  • @tohrulol
    @tohrulol 4 года назад +72

    I'm still trying out lower Heat levels, but I feel like EM1 is a good choice for 1 Heat. It only affects one fight, and it's not that much harder than normal. Damage Control is also pretty trivial for builds with fast attacks.
    For 2 Heat, I found Benefits Package easier than Middle Management. Even if BP affects many more encounters, I don't feel like they're much more difficult, while MM can easily cost you a Death Defiance. (Although you can argue it's best to learn these fight faster.)
    For 3 Heat, I didn't find Forced Overtime 1 that tough, but I imagine combining that with Jury Summons and Hard Labor can be real scary.

    I find that Forced Overtime is by far the most difficult of the optional pacts. My first attempts at 32 heat I had it on, and it's so much worse than any of the others, particularly in Elysium. Some chambers with Benefits Package+Jury Summons become much more difficult with that extra speed, and the minotaur is a lot harder if you don't have 3+ dashes. Take Hard Labor over it any day. Sure if you get hit with maxed Hard it hurts more, but you will get hit way more often when enemies are faster.

    Great guide! I will say, once you get used to the extreme measures, they are not much harder than their non-extreme counterparts, aside from Hades, of course. I maxed out all the bounties of the weapons before I did my 32 heat run and, no joke, did it on the first try with aspect of Chiron Dionysus special with curse of nausea. I had a lot of practice in the game and the Chiron bow in specific, over 200 hours in the game. Practice is really key. A tip to everyone, that 5 minute timer is really difficult, had like 10 seconds left at the end with 7 minute timer in the game, wouldn't recommend using it, 7 minutes is just about the right time for me.

    Why avoid EM until later on? I might have missed the part where you talked about it, but EM isn't nearly as bad compared to getting stonewalled by, say, the soldiers in Elysium. I genuinely think that they can be more burdensome and hard to deal with than EM3 Theseus/Asterius. I might just suck, but it's what I think nonetheless.

    • @veritascalivmeir3708
      @veritascalivmeir3708 4 года назад +21

      Em4 with hard labor is very hard even ignoring all the other pacts. and forced overtime makes that fight much harder in general, especially phase 1. those pacts are somewhat unavoidable at 32 heat. em4 is also the only em boss fight that is also affected by middle management. with regards to em3, asterius just wastes a lot of time sometimes by spamming the spin move. other times he will spam his charge which is MUCH faster and has better tracking even without forced overtime to worry about.

    • @Clovis5119
      @Clovis5119 4 года назад +35

      Agreed. I prefer starting with EM4 and then building off of that. Sure, it makes the bosses harder but you might as well learn the enhanced fights early on if you're going to do them eventually. And once you can handle those, you're basically starting at a baseline Heat 10 before enabling any other pacts.

    • @rin-io9vo
      @rin-io9vo 3 года назад +5

      Most high heat players avoid EM4 unless they are at a high enough heat for it to be no longer optional (50+). It is not bad by itself, but with the other pacts in mind (TD2, MM, FO2) it can be a drag.

    • @theguythatasked6400

      @Lansones I always use EM4, but I would leave it at 3 for most instances because it is a massive difficulty increase. Unless you are doing really high heat it’s almost always a bad take.

    • @MrGhosta5
      @MrGhosta5 2 года назад +1

      Once you learn the new boss fights EM4 is just free 10 heat on each weapon. You don't have to do anything but deal with the new boss fights. Lernie is actually easier because his fight is always the same with EM on while base lernie has a bunch of variants that makes learning/planing the fight harder.
      Thesues is easier because he can't block in his chariot, his attacks don't target zag, and he enters phase 2 at lower health. Asterius is easier because instead of chasing zag he just spins around like an idiot which leaves him open to get shot with a long range attack.

    I've gotten 32 on Demeter Fists, Nemesis Sword, Arthur and Zagreus Spear (Painful run, would not recommend). A pretty good setup for melee if you can play fast is Hermes trinket and Ruthless Reflex on max tight deadline. Don't take EM 4, Calisthenics or Jury Summons. Damage Control is whack too. You might get cheesed by Styx on the time limit but it's worth the risk to be a nonstop offensive beast with (up to) 100% dodge chance, provided you get the rare or epic Hermes dodge boon and can dash with precision. Seeing a lot of ranged weapon comments so figured I'd drop some melee tips

    I've been trying to clear 32 Heat with every aspect and this echoes my thoughts pretty closely. I have found the most success with max Tight Deadline, EM3, and no Jury Summons, Calisthenics, Approval or Routine Inspection- very close to what you show at 14:14 in the video. I do use Heightened Security as I'm pretty good at avoiding traps, and I'll switch between 2 Damage Control or an extra point in Hard Labor and Lasting Consequences based on what weapon I'm using. I find aspects where you can use that 2 DC a lot easier.

      EM3 is when shit starts to get real. I recommend seeking out Asterius as the mini-boss before this, just to get used to his new moves and to take off a chunk of his health as usual. There's even special dialogue for when he and his butt-buddy get tricked out.

    • @Fucisko
      @Fucisko 2 года назад +1

      @@AndrewBlechinger I'm still working my way to 16 heat (did 10 max) and honestly, after how much trouble I had with the base boss fight, I expected more from EM3. I had no idea what it was going to be when I did it, but I beat it first try anyway. You can pretty much ignore Theseus for the first half of the fight and just fight Asterius until he dies, and then it becomes super easy. I would even go as far to say that EM2 Hydra is harder to deal with than Elysium EM3. EM4 very much fucked me over though.
      I agree on seeking out Asterius first, since he's the bigger problem of the two.

      The damage from the hestia reload does A LOT of damage. It just feels so different from a lot of the way you play with the other aspects so it takes some getting used to. An epic attack boon that adds %dmg increase (artemis is the best, imo,) and a chaos attack boon make it smooth sailing. You'll be hitting like a truck after your reloads.
      edit: should add that leveling it up to max is a must since it increases the base damage, making the %attack bonuses scale better

Extreme measures thesues is easier because he can't block in his chariot, he doesn't target zag directly, and he enters phase 2 at lower health. My policy thus far has been to let the game mechanics guide my run planning as much as possible: I always choose the weapon with Dark(er) Thirst, and I always go for options that complete prophecies as a priority. Most importantly, I only increase Heat once I clear out all the Bounties.
    I also buy the artifact at the Temple of Styx every single run, which is quite easy if you avoid Charon and take Golden Touch. I even avoid Dark Foresight. I’ve found that handicapping myself in favor of long-term progression makes it much easier to overcome obstacles, as I can make things easier if I fail a run.

    I personally feel like extreme measures is by far the easiest. At least 1-3. When starting to build heat, I would increment those and tight deadline by 1 when I needed one more. So EM1, EM1 + TD1, EM2, EM2 + TD1, etc. Tight deadline 1 I find to be a free point. 9 minutes is plenty of time. At least on low heat.

      Same. My 8 heat setup was EM3 and middle management. Theseus/Asterius is not that bad even if he does have a chariot, and it’s a whole 3 heat just for one or two fights.

    personally i find i take a lot of damage in individual rooms than in boss fights, so i usually go for middle management & extreme measures. (but yeah mega gorgonxskullcrusher is still the worst) Damage Control is great if using high attack rate like fists/rail but probably don't use it with things like hestia or hera bow
    ayye! this video looks real good btw, the cuts of zag walking through the rooms to show where to find the mirror and punishment pacts and wells are very well placed :D

    Man I’ve put hundreds of hours into Hades and I still struggle with it often. However, I read a tip that has helped force me to become better at the game. It’s a bit frustrating at times, but has proved incredibly effective. Instead of going for the easy pact of punishment options, I go for basically the hardest IMO (excluding the one that takes away from the mirror of night perks). In other words, I always leave forced labor maxed out, then go EM max, then go Hard labor maxed. The principle is to make yourself adjust to the less forgiving mechanics before tacking on the easier to deal with ones. This is sort of a long shot/high risk+high reward mentality, but it’s definitely kept things very interesting for me. It does make the game much more frustrating but I’d rather get better at the game with these on now, then will be able to just pile on the less challenging ones like middle management, underworld customs, damage control, convenience fee, jury summons, etc

    I think it's smart to get used to EM, Forced Overtime, MM, BP, and Tight Deadline on low heat runs when you're farming early titan's blood. I've been running EM3 by itself for a while now and it helped a lot to know the fights well when I finally started attempting 32 heat.
    And maxed tight deadline by itself feels about the same as a weaker TD on higher heat.

    For 32 Heat I picked all the packs that didn't make the average enemy harder to kill. I got the 15% dodge fists, got the golden plume that increases dodge if you finish encounters fast, and then just punched everyone blindly with like 60% dodge by the end and beat 32 heat on my first try, albeit barley. My timer ran out during Hades and I thought I was just going to instantly die but it's just damage over time.

    I’m way late but I just first tried 32 heat (hundreds of hours I’ve just been bounty grinding before), using the aspect of Rama bow. This is the exact heat setup I used; way different from his
    Max jury summons
    Extreme measures 3
    Max calisthenics program
    2 benefits package (caused me a TON of trouble in one Elysium archer room but not that bad otherwise)
    Middle management
    Underworld customs
    1 forced overtime
    Heightened security
    2 routine inspection
    2 damage control
    1 approval process
    The entire point was to play as slow as I can, kite around. Wound up with festive fog and ares cast for quick ranged damage, and ultimately took HP whenever I could with persephone’s keepsake to keep boons competitive (took dionysius to tartarus for the cast). Was a very slow, safe process but I cleared Hades with a death defiance remaining, also got very lucky with an early strong drink. If you’re ok with a 45 minute run and feel confident dodging around while waiting for windows feel free to use that!

    "Git gud with no annoyances" 32 heat: full hard labor, extreme measures, forced overtime, heightened security and benefits package. + 2 points into tight deadline and middle management.
    And then just break it with base 50% dodge from zag fists + lambent plume, which can go up to 100% total with greater dodge and second wind. Or just some well placed "+50% dodge" dashes, but I couldn't pull it off consistently enough.
    Still took me a dozen tries or so, but got to Hades fairly consistently.

    Heightened security is awful and only counts as one heat. many great runs have been destroyed from the spike cogs in styx and the beam things. They hit for like 100+!. youd think to yourself, how hard can it be, just avoid the traps. That is until you realize just how often you do get hit by traps during runs.

    Excellent video Haelian! When I started climbing on the heat ladder I much preferred EM 3 and tight deadline 2 or 3 even, those 2 combined are a bunch of heat and they don't add difficulty to the whole run, only to the boss fights (and not that much once you get used to them), EM 4 is still very scary though, I only had it on when I was attempting 32 heat. Also, tight deadline helps with building up speedrun practice :D

  • @MrGhosta5
    @MrGhosta5 2 года назад +1

    for your first 12 heat you can just run extreme measures 4 and middle management. For those 12 runs with each weapon you only have to worry about the tougher bosses and don't have to fuss with turning different pacts on and off for each level of heat. With 72 titan blood and ambrosia you can max out your companion keepsakes and upgrade a few choice aspects to max.
    Furies on extreme measures has a lot of variance as you can get any one of the three sisters and sometimes you only get two sisters instead of three. Tisiphone is generally the hardest because she makes the room smaller which is really bad for a lot of aspects. I find alecto easier because it's easy to just doge around her and bait her to walk into the traps.
    Lernie is pretty much the same except now there is lava in the middle of the room and the arena is smaller overall. I find extreme measure lernie easier as extreme measures lernie is always the same which makes him easy to plan for while base lernie has a bunch of variants which makes planning for the fight a lot harder.
    I find extreme measures Theseus and Asterius easier because Theseus in his chariot can't block, most of his attacks don't target zag, and he enters phase 2 at lower health. Asterius' big spin is easy to avoid and leaves him open to long range attacks. Base Theseus is super annoying as he's constantly blocking and throwing his spear at Zag while Asterius chases Zag around the arena.
    Extreme measures (redacted) is the only fight that is significantly harder. (Redacted) summons mini bosses, gets a summon, and during the extra third stage the edge of the screen gets darkened making it harder to see attacks coming from off screen.
    Forced overtime is absolutely brutal. Movement speed modifiers in hades are extremely noticeable and have a huge effect. Even just 10% form a common level hermes boon is really noticeable.
    Hard labor can be mitigated with boons that slow/stun/weaken enemies. It's much easier to just dash away from a slow strong hit then from multiple
    Heightened security is basically a free level of heat because traps are easy to avoid.
    Damage control will either have no impact or it will make your build unplayable. Trouble is that sometimes you turn on damage control and all you find are hammers and boons for one shot/first strike builds.
    benefits package 1 is fine but with rank 2 you can get a lot of perk combinations that are really difficult to deal with.
    I rather run calisthenics program and jury summons then tight deadline.
    Underworld customs and approval process can be circumvented a bit by using authority to reroll rooms like darkness and gems into extra boons. If running convince fee then you can also try to reroll money. you can also jump inside a caos gate to get a different set of rooms.
    Routine inspection basically makes your run a fresh file run except you get to keep your keepsakes and weapons. If you can clear a fresh file run with no mirror upgrades then just turn on routine inspection and keep it maxed out until you've finished your runs with each weapon and then slowly add jurry summons, hard labor, and calisthenics program

    It's interesting how there are so many different opinions about the Pact of Punishment. On the subreddit, everyone seems to think Jury Summons, Hard Labor & Calisthenics Program are awful, & they don't mind having fewer boon choice. Personally, I find Jury Summons ok but I want the most boon choices. I like running with Tight Deadline 2 or 3 (unless I have the shield) & Forced Overtime 1 or possibly 2, but 2 is a big jump

    I did my first 8 heat run with just tight deadline 2 and extreme measures 2, as neither really make the run harder. Then i added benefits package to make it the full 8. I got it first try with no struggle what so ever.
    From my experience tight deadline 2 and extreme measures 2 are just free +6 heat as long as you remember to pause when not actively playing.
    For my first 16 heat run I did it straight after my first 8 heat run, also with no real difficulties, I just had to beat the extreme measures 4 for the achievement and decided to add forced overtime on top of it to make it the 16 required for the skelly statue. Finished it in just under 15 minutes so with no time pressure, also had all 3 death defiances at the end, haven't tried extreme measures 4 since, but seems very free considering the substantial amount of heat it gives.

    For whatever reason, I have never cleared a run with even 1 level of hard labor and yet, I have never removed the two levels of benefits package and I keep forgetting about the 1 level of forced overtime. It's worth noting that forced overtime also increases the speed of enemy projectiles and that is what will kill you much more than the faster attack animations.
    I cleared 32 once with Zag gloves on the merciful end build. I ran em4 and tight deadline max. This also produced my personal best time for any run, strangely.

    • @theguythatasked6400
      @theguythatasked6400 3 года назад +1

      I have to disagree. I have a save file where I unlocked Em4 and never stopped using it, and even after 100 runs, it’s still very dangerous. For 32 heat you still have decent options, and EM4 is only 4 heat. Above that though your hands are pretty much tied. Hades em4 summons in phase 1 are much more difficult, and several can easily shred an acorn shield. Phase two is just more difficult and a bit longer due to the heal. Phase 3 exists. However I would recommend you use EM4 because it’s fun, and Unseen Ones slaps.

    • @AndrewBlechinger
