I’ve had a lot of new people looking at my stuff from this video which is great! Thank you all for tuning in and giving some opinions!! Just wanted to clear the air on some things that a lot of people are commenting: - Yes I completely left out an area of Hades 1! I just forgot about it my bad! - Despite how it may come across I’ve got a good 50+ hours in Hades 1 and love the game a lot! Not making the credits roll does not make my opinions on the game mean nothing - my opinions on Hades 1 and 2 are just that! Opinions! I appreciate that they’re not popular opinions and for the most part people have been respectful of that and saying their own opinions which is awesome!! Discussion is exactly what I was hoping to find from this video! - for those who are giving their builds like I asked thank you so much!! I’m now choosing to stay clear of Hades 2 until full release after clocking a good 30+ hours into the early access. Thank you all again so much for watching! It means a lot! Hope you choose to tune into my stuff again!! New upload soon I promise 🙏❤
I'm sure everyone will complain but the plot goes further. You can only spend so much time out with your mother, you die in the sun. So each time you try to talk to her about different things and try to resist longer. The real ending of the game is when after many escapes, you convince her to come back, Hades relents and appaluds you and you keep running the dungeon, because otherwise the other gods would think you succeeded to return Persephone to Hades and split them up again. It's actually /magnificent/ storytelling and reasoning as to /why/ we're still playing a roguelike and why Zagreus still 'escapes' and still fights Hades. But the tone changes to one of sparring and contest. Unrelated. Any talks about anything in the game mechanics wise and gameplay wise are useless. Hades 1 in EE was equally a mess. Everyone has to remember Hades 1 got praise /after/ release. Not a lot of people were excited about Hades and its EE was relatively a small affair. Hades 2' EE is getting a lot of eyes on it, and as such, any flaws or deficiencies are blown out of proportion when it comes down to what actually will end up being the final game experience.
The goes further beyond that, and takes place not after you find your mother and bring her back. But after you get your FATHER to reconcile with Olympus. There's a whole separate quest line not many people actually did because it's super tedious
@@DraodVideos I didn't mention that because that's ostensibily made to be exactly post game content. I believe the core story, when everything mostly wraps up and eveyone's stakes are settled, is when you bring Persephone back. Sure, there's more bits, but feel they are there just to provide a little sprinkle of something for the true hardcore players. The reasoning why you still run after is much weaker.
I know this is an old comment/video. But I have to say personally I loved every bit of H1 EE. Seeing them take criticism well & attempt to apply it, for better or worse, was fantastic. It also was a game I bought on a whim after an Christmas party with family from a gift exchange where I got a gift card. So I guess I'm biased with that memory of how much fun I had at my family party + finding a fantastic game I got to watch grow & turn into this massive success.
It's true, I played about 50h of Hades II (having 350h in Hades), and then tried to come back to Hades and found it feels sooo much different. Played 2 runs, got used to it again, came back to Hades II again, and Same exact thing occurs. This just shows that while the games look like they play almost identically, they're much different. The pacing is much different, enemies are much different, and Hades II isn't hack and slash anymore, so frantically spamming everything you have won't get you any wins this time.
About casts: I feel just the opposite. Cast in hades was extremely forgettable unless you build entirely around it, and was really boring with just the shot, not to mention how annoying it was to pick your casts up (I know, I know, you can have your cast recharge automatically, it's good), while in Hades II You can cast so quickly that you can weave it inbetween combos of your attacks. Not to mention it's practically key to dodging some attacks, like cerberus moving slams, chronos' rift dashes and some enemies charging at you. It feels much more integrated, and every cast boon makes you play completely different, while original Hades' cast boons were often really boring or would require duo boons for any fun/good builds.
I haven’t played Hades 2. But based on people saying how playing Hades 2 and then Hades I kinda have the same thing with Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. They both are really similar in gameplay but they feel different when you play the other one
I think the dash is a balancing thing since melinoe has a lot more ranged attack compared to Zag. Also the cast is integral to mel's gameplay since she needs the range and making an area that restricts enemy's moevements is key
I'd go even farther and say the entire game is designed AROUND the cast. The sheer number of enemies with a long lasting charging attack made that extremely clear, as if you don't use it those screaming wraiths in the first area will wreck your shit. And the spearfish in the second. And the rogues on the surface. Frankly, I find Zag's cast pretty boring by comparison, since the Mirror of Night upgrades for it encourage using it as a debuff tool on the bosses instead playing around with the more interesting boon variants, and I frequently forget I have it at all. Melinoe's cast, meanwhile, is a core part of her arsenal even at base, so I always have it out.
@@Quantumironturtle I really like mel's cast for the rooting ability as well. I dont't rly like zag's cast because we need to pick it up again, I even sacrafice fire rate by using the rechargable cast rather than picking it up. I love the magick system in hades 2 in the sense that players can choose how they recharge the magick, maybe by staying in the cast, staying still, attacking, etc and not only forced to just pick it up or just to sacrafice usage frequency by automatically recharging.
Honestly I think the cast is so much better in hades 2. With the right arcana set up your cast becomes both offensive and defensive which I adore. Not to mention you can apply two curses solely with your cast with the right boons which triggers origination is chefs kiss.
It feels extremely off after playing hades, but it isnt a bad change it is just a change. Only thing I dislike about hades 2 is the colours feel very muted and every area feels quite similar
Any boon from Hestia, Apollo or Demeter that involves your cast becomes terrifying. I particularly like Hestia and Apollo, because being able to summon a circle of fire to destroy your enemies is kinda awesome
Demeter's secondary cast effect (the gust i think) is great added to anything. I like putting that with one of the ranged options like Zeus or Hestia so you launch the cast at them, then they're slowed by the cast, taking damage from Gust, which slows them FURTHER, all at range so you can blast them with the Flames or Staff's specials or whatever. the combos on the cast are nuts
Demeter’s cast options are insane. I basically needed them when I was doing the level 32 fear challenge runs. And add Zeus into the mix and the enemies can’t get close, can’t move and there constantly getting bombarded with lightning
Regarding your cast comment. I literally felt the same till I started experimenting with different cast boons when I started to struggle clearing fear runs. Some of those are actually amazing and completely change the way you play the build. At first I thought it's just a dumb damage increase from the Arcana card, but it's 1) a root, which is very important when in high fear runs you can litetally get one shot. 2) It's instant and AOE, and some casts like Poseidon's one literally deal 100 dmg to everyone in front of you and pushes them away, that's stronger than his heroic attack and 3) some casts are working while they are active, which means you drop it and then continue playing while doing dmg/debuffs in the background. So what I'm saying just try some cast boons for fun, and you'll instantly will fall in love!
Casts are more than just damage. Dropping a cast, not even an Omega case is a great defensive move to hold enemies, particularly fast moving ones from running you down. They are also a great way to apply curses for the Origination card which gives a 50% damage bonus when an enemy has 2 curses. Put one on the attack and another on the curse and +50% boom.
And casts have massive interractions with some aspects, namely pan, charon, persephone, even momus and all of these aspects are arguably the strongest of their respective weapons if built right
@@antoinelelong1324 I cant do charon with max enemy speed fear, the ranged enemies tear me a new one, I did 45 fear with than axe tho and there is someone who completed 55 fear with it!!!
what most people dont remember about mel's cast is that it slows enemies inside of it, meaning if you have enemies chasing after you, you can drop the cast and it will allow you to stop them long enough to drop an omega move and decimate them, and the omega cast is the strongest omega move period, which just adds an explosion to the end of your cast
06:55 I find that on higher difficulties the cast is essential to slow the faster enemies down. Commenting for the algorithm. I see it has been addressed in the other comments.
The cast is less damage focused (aside from a few select aspects) and much more about utility. It keeps you from getting mobbed by the whirlers and banshees in erebus, the needlefish in oceanus, punchers and lycans in fields, etc. You pretty much drop it and kite so that you can pick off the enemies from a medium range.
A great combo for melinoe's cast is the zeus boon and demeter boon that when put together, turn the cast into a blender. And then if you give every enemy the hitch effect while in the cast they'll all be taking damage each time one of them is hit, which is 4 times a second. And then, if you're using one of the staffs different forms, it will recast any omega cast for free. And you can get a bonus that if an enemy dies with the hitch effect, any other enemy with the hitch effect will take a burst of damage, which is really great for the [redacted] fight. I know that's a long list, but it's honestly great, and more can be added on top of it
making the credits roll is just finishing it a bunch of times until your mother finishes her story and comes back home with you... then all you gotta do is increase affinity with all the gods and that's it
Once you unlock the weapon aspects, the Charon version of the Moonstone Axe can be super broken. If you hit your regular Cast circle with the Omega Special (OS), it instantly donates your cast as if it was your Omega Cast. If you get Apollo's Lucid Gain boon then you regain 50-100+ mana back if you're standing inside when your cast disappears. So you can spam Cast and OS back to back and always have full mana. This makes your Hex charge up very fast by spending mana. You can get an upgrade like the Daedalus Hammer that increases the mana cost of your OS and fires it twice. And/or the Hestia boon that increases the mana cost and launches a fireball when you OS. You can get your OS to cost 40 or 55 so that you only have to cast your OS twice to build your Hex even if it costs 80-100. If you get the Darkside Hex you become impervious to all damage during it. So you can fire 2 OS and then Hex to become impervious for 5-6 seconds and repeat 2 OS into Hex over and over. I like to put Hera's boon on the Special so everything gets Hitched and shares damage with each other for even bigger nukes. But the only thing you really need is Charon's Axe and Apollo's Lucid Gain for the mana gain. You could slap any other boons on and it should work.
i like the aphrodite heartthrob boon when using that combo, if somehow the enemy still survive after your OS you can just run them over with heartthrob
@@jabermogwai5996 Get Heartbreaker and then Sunny Disposition with Apollo and Chronos will get oneshot by just running into him after like 5 rotations lol
Loved the video. Also: the cast actually IS the best part of Melinoe's kit. It's also the reason her dash doesn't need extra charges. If you didn't know, cast is a snare that traps enemies in place, giving you space to do your thing. Loads of buffs are good for it but I really like some two of Apollo's that cause it to increase the size as cast lingers and then NUKE the area after it expires
The Cast change is huge, at least for me. I didn't really use the blood-red gem before. Now the cast is really useful, helps zone enemies and it does a lot of damage with the correct setup/boons, and also fits very well the theme of witchcraft because Melinoe is a Witch. Theme-wise I think Hades II is perfect, the upgrades are Arcana Witch Cards, you get materials for your Cauldron to craft spells that break current limits of the game so you can make progress, but as a daughter of Hades, she also knows how to throw some punches. Love this game.
For the cast.. I really like the scorch cast. Also Zeus and poseidons cast is good. And it’s really great to combine cast boons. Demeter’s cyclone plus scorch goes so hard. Zeus and Poseidon cast boons combined also goes crazy.
For the cast in Hades 2, I've really liked putting Demeter's freeze on it, especially when you turn up enemy movement speed. It stops them from absolutely running over you in Mourning Fields and Tartarus, and it also does decent damage if you end up stacking Hitch with your attack/special/dash and Demeter's Cyclone effect on top of it. I've had runs where I did like half of Chronos's health with just my cast and dash.
Bruh what Chronos imprision all the characters of Hades 1 and wants to rule the universe Where you are evil than that ? Hades, Zeus and Poseidón can be the bad ones not the protagonist 😂
Well Melinoe is mostly fighting to save her family. Helping Olympus is important too, but her main interest is freeing Hades and the other underworld gods. She is not responsible for the disagreements and morals of the war.
My only real gripe with the early access approach is when early players post spoilers as content. I don't mean this video which was good about teasing new stuff without giving away anything too juicy, but the other day I saw a reel giving away a unique final boss mechanic. I'm glad early players are helping make the final release as good as it can be but I wish more of them would chill on talking about specific reveals or cool aspects of the sequel that a lot of us are looking forward to discovering on our own when it's officially out.
Ok, so you wonder what the cast is for? In contrast to Hades 1, the cast basically acts as a defence mechanism for Hades 2. Outside of bosses, the Cast is meant to ensnare enemies and keep them in place so you can safely attack them from a distance or for you to finish them off. One of the uses I found for the Cast is when dealing with the fishes that spawn in Oceanus. Specifically, the ones that come in schools. Or the ones that Scylla summons desperately as you’re about to kill her. It’s basically Aspect of Arthur from the first game but more convenient and way easier to use. It gives you more breathing room and allows you to attack opponents more safely. My typical strategy with it is to cast it when enemies are about to spawn, and kill them immediately. It’s effective against mobile enemies or for bosses that aren’t particularly fast (Hecate, Scylla, Roxy, etc.). While it also isn’t particularly good against very fast enemies (Jetty and some others).
6:36 interestingly, I *love* the new cast in Hades 2, its ability to freeze enemies in place makes the large area attacks way more fun to use, as well as making large enemy groups a lot easier to deal with (there's a lot more big groups for this reason too). Try something like Pan blades + poseidon special + demeter/hera cast and just spam omega specials against everything in your cast, it's insane
The cast in Hades 2 is downright amazing. At first, i found it a bit strange and unnatural to use because i was used to Hades 1 cast, but it quickly became something i constantly used when i played the Hades 2. I think SuperGiant designed the cast this way to account for the less dashes. When i found myself overwhelmed with enemies, instead of spamming the dash to get away, i would throw a cast to trap the enemies so i could escape or charge up an attack. When combined with some of the boons, the cast became a monster of AOE Damage. Overall, i love it.
I like using apollo's prominence flare that rapidly deals damage when a cast expires, combine that with hestia's glowing coal that lets you fire casts from a big distance, it's just unbeatable
The best part about the cast is the slowing/grabbing. If you are able to slow time (charging omega moves), they get trapped in there and then it is easy to pick them off instead of dashing around getting rushed down by screamers or stabby people. Plus any good cast upgrade (Hephaestus's big damage smash, the Freeze or gusts, the lightning bolts) does more damage WHILE holding them still. It really comes down to just doing a lot of combos.
Well for the dash, first of all Melinoe is MUCH more distance focused so having 2 dashes would be BROKEN. Also the cast also balance the lack of dash cause it prevents enemies from moving. You should try to okay lite with it cause when you do you gain SO much more crowd control and positioning options!
With arcana card "The Furies" and Demeter's boon for cast that inflicts freeze, cast becomes OP. If you combone it with Apollo's cast enlarger boon or Zeus'us boon that sends thunder to the enemies in your cast, plain cast or omega cast demolishes al the enemies. That "freeze" effect from demeter makes wven armored enemies stop so you kinda stun lock even armored enemies with a damage increase boon for your attack,ig you also have the arcana card "Night" it gets even better.
The cast in hades 2 is extremely essential, mainly because of damage multipliers. I find that it is an extremely stark difference between hitting an opponent versus hitting an opponent in my cast (and especially with two different status effects) thanks to the arcana
I didn't get the cast mechanic at first, but it can be amazingly powerful with the right boons. In particular, the cast boons of Zeus, Demeter, Hephaestus, and Hestia are my favorites. There are some additional boons from Apollo and Demeter which can kind of augment your cast circle with additional damage or gust effects. The snare ability is really helpful for some of the fast running enemies which are much more common in the sequel. Also the sprint is really a fun mechanic that distinguishes it from Hades 1, while not being really better or worse. Again, the right boons, like Zeus's, can make sprinting a weapon too, and I honestly prefer to not have to spam the dash button. Both games are similar but with some noteworthy differences that make them a unique experience. I'm glad because I have mostly run out of story on Hades 1. I'm eager to see how they end the story of Hades 2..
For the cast, there is a Hestia boon that allows you to throw it instead of placing it below you, which can feel a lot better especially against bosses where you usually have to risk your life just to place it
Okay so about the cast, I really find it the main tool in my kit. Hestia can make it a fiery projectile that slow enemies on impact, poseidon makes it so it explodes when you cast it, demeter, hephaestus and zeus allow you add massive damage and debuffs to it while its active and the op part is that these can combine. Just did a run where I took one of Apollo's blessings which restored my magick if when I was in the cast while it was detonating and also the poseidons immediate detonation and I just kept spamming it and upgrading it with pomagrante seeds. In the end it was dealing about 780 damage per cast and costed nothing.
About the casts, it may be just me, but i find them extraordinarily rewarding, the augments you can add to them, the fact it locks enemies in place making melee opponents much simpler to deal with, and the huge burst of damage at the end, i just hold the button periodically to add dps, sorta like i did in hades 1, though i can see where some people might not find any use in it
Demeter's Local Climate, with Apollo's Super Nova with a Zeus, Aphrodite or Hestia cast is beyond chef kiss. Casts have become what I care about chasing boons for the most.
Yeah I realised this while editing but honestly the maze section at the end of the route is so much shorter and less fleshed out than the other areas I still wouldn't count it as a full area and more of a prep zone - but obviously this is entirely personal opinion 😅
@@ItsWhimsi Deadline gives you bonus time for it, so it's counted as a full-on region, and 80% of the time it's longer than asphodel, which is the shortest biome in the game.
@@ItsWhimsi isn't tartarus (in hades 2) basically the same length though? it's like five chambers, maybe two or three more if you pick the alternate paths
About the cast, for me it's actually the opposite. My main complaint about Hades 1 for example was exactly the cast. It would ALWAYS keep feeling out of place no matter which cast upgrade boon I'd pick, and I would ALWAYS keep forgetting it existed.
I slightly prefer the new cast. I found that with the first hades cast was just another attack it could do some good damage but still an attack where as I feel the new cast gives you a good level of control where it slows the enemy and with the right god like Demeter it can be devastating.
6:53 I adore the cast in Hades 2 so much. My personal favorites are using Demeter cast in conjunction with Hestia Flourish/Strike and their duo boon. I also really like Hestia cast paired with Aphrodite for duo boons. The main benefit of the cast is the fact that it locks enemies in place and lets you take them out easily with the rest of your kit. Additionally, effectively using your mana is an important aspect for Hades 2. I got through my early runs using an Omega cast build with the Arcana card that let me have mana regen automatically. There are different use cases, but Apollo and Aphrodite cast are also fairly decent. I don't like Hephaestus' cast and with the most recent Patch 4, I think Hera's cast is bad. What I will say, is that build synergy has always been something that matters for these games, and I think it is unfair to judge the quality of the strike/flourish/cast without the understanding that you will most likely be applying boons to them. Build Suggestion for making good use of the cast: Aspect of Moros Torches. Put Hestia on the Special (Searing Flourish), Demeter on the Cast (Arctic Ring), Hera's Mana Regen Boon (Born Gain), and then fill in with another god, preferably one who gets duo boons with a few of the other 3 gods (Poseidon is my preferred atm). Work towards getting Freezer Burn (Demeter/Hestia Duo) and Elementary Particles (Hestia/Hera). You can stack up a lot of Scorch via the Omega Flourish and then cause it to burst with Demeter To establish my credibility, I've got 160+ hours in Hades 2 and close to 800 hours in Hades 1.
6:50 H2 cast build for you: Aspect of Persephone with Zeus's cast. You can optionally also get hera or apollo's special, hera has more damage but apollo gets a decent duo boon. Start the run with Zeus' keepsake and look for his cast. If you see hera or apollo then get their special, but if not I think hera is better to get with her keepsake in Oceanus since she also gives born gain, but you will need to get extra magic so you don't run out. Apollo has a decent magic regen boon for this build, but not that great. Imo you don't need origination for this build, but if you want you can go for Demeter's Gale Force in the fields and that with hera's special is a way to get origination. There are so many other builds you can do with this aspect btw. You can go for a freeze burn build with demeter's special and hestia's cast, but I've found a lot of success in the Zeus build since you don't really need a pesky duo for it to work, unless you're doing the apollo variation, and ever since the buff they gave to this aspect it's felt really good to use!
When it comes to the cast, try Hephaestus' cast, along with Zeus' offering for cast where it shoots lightening. The cast itself keeps the enemies inside the circle, so if you feel overwhelmed (particularly in the Fields) it can help you focus on the ones who are outside the circle whilst those ones are being kept in. I would highly recommend incorporating it into your gameplay and not ignoring it. You can find yourself losing a lot less health in even normal rooms. It works particularly well for the getting rid of the side bitch Sirens as well. So my starting boon offering would be Hephaestus to get his cast early on, then Apollo once I defeat Hecate for some sweet buffs, trying to go for Zeus along the way, then depending on how my Death Defies are going, shoving another one on so I get through the 3rd boss.
6:56 you absolutely have to get hestia’s cast launching boon and demiter’s multiple cast boons to make it continuously damage things inside and then it is literally the best
I miss zagreus but jeez hades 2 really set the bar high with its combos characters, designs and story. The best part is the new maps. Given two different paths instead of one linear is insane. I love it. Ive invested 100s of hours in hades and while both are amazing hades 2 has become my new addiction.
I really love the sprint- I think it feels great and all of the upgrades are a ton of fun. And forgive me if some of these aspects are tied to Arcana cards, but the cast is huge for me. Being able to FREEZE your enemies in place? Which allows you to set up your attack/special (likely your Omega?) So useful! It’s so easy to tap on the cast just to get enemies stuck, but I also love setting up my omega casts for a big burst of damage at the end. And I think most of the cast boons are great. Zeus’ can do SO much damage. I think Hera’s scorch is pretty good too. I also like setting up the expanding Apollo cast effect with Aphrodite’s magnetizing cast, slowly drawing more and more enemies to the center and then hitting them all with a powerful Omega attack/special. And of course, I take comfort in knowing that enemies in my cast take more damage (or at least I think there’s an Arcana card that does that.
The cast in hades 2 is actually designed to give you more build options around it, There are more boons to improve and specialize on it and in some builds you just use your cast not even your basic attacks. It is not a compliment to your basic attacks like it was in the first game for most builds, I believe it was desgined to offer more options for different gameplay styles.
I bought the original game on PS4, PS5 and PC and have completed it 100% multiple times putting hundreds of hours into it. I bought Hades 2 the second it was available and have put nearly 100 hours into that as well, even though it is still in early access.
The cast is by far the strongest attack you can have in Hades 2, you'll get insane damage on a boss and can focus on dodging after casting it. Also maybe you have noticed that there are more enemy types that try and rush at you, your cast will keep them stuck to the ground and make them easy to pick off, if you then add the effects of Zeus or Ares to it and improve those, load up the cast and it will demolish anything while it can't even move.
8:13 first of all, did you forget the temple of Styx existed? It is 100% a 4th biome for hades 1, and not considering it a biome while saying that hades 2 Tartarus is seems a bit unfair
I just want to know IF and WHEN they will do the second game as a Physical for switch... I'll be SUPER upset if they don't. I've held off from playing it till I know.
That's funny cuz I feel the exact opposite regarding the cast; I barely used it in Hades 1 (except with some boons I liked) but here in Hades 2 it buffs so much your other powers, or just make so much damage I find it really useful
Especially if you have sh*tty aim. I often choose the 'You can't pick it up for 14 seconds' if it's an option in Chaos. Although, Demeter, Zeus, and Ares cast are incredibly helpful
Yo my man you said you want a cast build... well I have just the build for you it's an all I one killing machine... the fenyx cast (named after me as I made it) you need the new lucid gain and cast boon (demeter is the best) and geyser spout the second teir cast boon from the man of the ocean posiden. And their you go the best build for the cast it can work with any build as it's independence it's what makes it so strong
The casts are great when you try them with some of the runes like dementer or Zeus, hestia and some others. You can make some amazing builds using them correctly
Honestly the best cast combo for hades 2 is either hestia or aphrodite cast + lightning lance from zeus. This lets you target the cast similar to Dionysus' festife fog from hades 1
I feel like I'll prefer Hades II to Hades I, and I played hundreds of hours of Hades I. Your point about each game feeling clunky depending on which one you played recently is SO real, I got the same feeling. About the casts, I think Zeus-Apollo-Hera combo has an excellent build for casts, well worth the try. Slight correction, Hecate refers to herself to a Titanness, not a goddess. This was an excellent video, great job!
The cast thing is the opposite for me. In the first game; I often forgot I had the option for it and kind of ignored it. But in Hades II, I am remembering more to use my cast and incorporating it more into the gameplay.
i unfortunately barely used the cast in the first game because it felt kinda slow and i hardly noticed whether i even had any uses of it left or not, definitely a skill issue on my end lol, but the cast in hades 2 is so much more fun to use in my opinion and it’s one of my favourite changes they’ve made between the two games
I find that the cast in Hades 2 is less fun to use raw than the Hades 1 iteration but is given much more build potential, with either using it to make zones of death or using Poseidon amd Hestia to make it a Fireball that explodes instantly.
I haven't played Hades 2 yet, but I just recently beat 1, and I totally forgot to use the cast all the time. Easily the least used ability for me. I'm curious to see if I like Melinoe's any better.
You should try a run with a cast boon and other boons that support the cast. It is really good, but it need buildings like anything else. Also, make sure you're using the omega cast. 200 points of damage is nothing to sneeze at, and getting enough magic regen to be able to use is pretty easy. The boons that make your cast fire a projectile with the binding circle form where the projectile hits are especially good. They're support boons so you can use them along side your main cast boon. Or just keep playing focused on the weapons if you find that more fun. You don't NEED to use the cast, but I think you'll like it if you try it.
the new cast i found really usefull to proc origination (the card that gives +50% dmg) at the start of my playtrough I felt the same as u, but watching a lot of Haelian videos made me realize thats one of the main reasons u sould use it, find a boon that procs a condition (hera and demeter are the easiest ones) and just cast it right under the enemys right before using ur combo
I think the source of difference is the different build of our protagonist. Zag is a fighter he goes in do some bloodshed and come out. Mel on the other hand is a witch. She is not as fast as Zagreus or as tough, but she still has spells and the firepower which Zag has bearly has. For me it is similar to when I play a caster and a martial character in DnD. They have a different timing, rhytm and style
hades 2 i use the cast mostly for when I wanna spread curses, that being said the best one is ussually the ones where you don't have to hold it to get the benefit of it, although I do remember apollo's cast being pretty good if paired with some other cast boons
I have beaten cronos with a build using the staff's cast with 2 dedalos hamers and afrodite's buff that makes you deal more damage if you're close to enemies, the first hammer is the one that makes you attack twice to your front and the one that makes you heal when killing enemies with the cast (left click cast)
The reason I've come up with as to why hades 1 and 2 feel different to play for the first bit when switching between the two is because they seem to play differently. Hades 1, to me at least, seems to focus a lot more on being aggressive in your fight up the underworld, whereas hades 2 seems to have a more tactical approach since this is a war after all. This approach in hades 2 is seen with the two new meters you have to keep an eye on, being the hex and magik granting stronger attacks and build potential. The cast being the way it is encouraging the player to watch for a window of opportunity to throw it down effect, where in hades 1 you mostly just threw it within rough line of sight and when the boss wasn't invincible. And as for cast builds, Charon axe with prominence flare or whatever apolo's omega cast is.
Lovin the overwatch call out With context too, it’s only a matter of time when the ovw devs realize they’re losing more money on 5v5 and how they treat balance changes like fixing an antique scale with a jack hammer.
Cast is reqlly powerful. If you get the boon from Zeus or Apollo that adds extra damage to cast and then get boon from hestia to throw the cast. It is really powerful.
Most stuff has been said but there is one thing that I want to mention. While yes, only one dash, it feels way more controllable. I went back to hades 1, to finish some stories after playing over 100 hours of 2 and I just can't get the timing right. Dodging in Hades 1 seems so weird to me, it never works reliable. And I can't seem to finish with more than 17 skulls. Death Defiance also shows how often enemies are actually not hitting you, while you take damage.
I’ll make a comment on the cast thing here because I didn’t like it at first either. The whole point of it is to trap moving enemies (especially armored ones) because it makes everything but guardians stay in the circle. You can also add stuff to this like Apollo’s boon that makes it a blast, demeter’s that makes it a cyclone and my personal favorite of hestia’s that makes it do constant burn damage inside. It’s something that you utilize on top of what you make your attack and special. It is different than zag’s cast in that it doesn’t really damage or shoot, but it’s really vital to giving yourself opportunities especially now that you can charge for omega attacks (I will say it does take getting used to but after playing a while it becomes like second nature to use it)
I pause in four minutes 23 seconds to say what what the narrator asked my answers. Yes with Pokémon, particularly Pokémon sword with Pokémon, scarlet doing the max raid battles and raids back to back of times while having Pokémon home to fill the gaps, but that’s my personal way others may be different or totally relatable to others. Be surprised if I get 100,000 likes under this one comment or 100 K likes/M depending upon the RUclips algorithm implies if you do this with this comment then you’re really being supportive for this guy again only under the paw of 23 seconds and four minutes out of 10 minutes 10 seconds of this RUclips video maybe you could pause it then to give a like if you want to so sorry for the pause, but I gotta listen to what he says
I'm not the first to point this out but mixing the cast into Melinoe's combo is really important for latter difficulties (+20% dmg from a cheap card for example)
Try Charon Axe and put Hephaestus' Anvil Ring + Poseidon's Geyser Spout + Seismic Hammer (Duo of Hephaestus & Poseidon) and that's one of my personal satisfying Cast Build. You can also add Lucid Gain (Apollo boon) and Grand Caldera for bigger explosion.
I’ve had a lot of new people looking at my stuff from this video which is great! Thank you all for tuning in and giving some opinions!!
Just wanted to clear the air on some things that a lot of people are commenting:
- Yes I completely left out an area of Hades 1! I just forgot about it my bad!
- Despite how it may come across I’ve got a good 50+ hours in Hades 1 and love the game a lot! Not making the credits roll does not make my opinions on the game mean nothing
- my opinions on Hades 1 and 2 are just that!
Cmon man. You gotta finish the first game. I think you gotta beat it 11 times. Just keep at it.
you have to beat the final boss 9 times and on the tenth time it's when the credits roll, no spoilers
And then you have to max out your relationships with everyone in order to get the final ending. Not going to say what that is.
Got hades blessing to leave after like 50 attempts
@aaronrodriguez4451 took me 27 attempts, I saw the credits a few hours ago
only 11 times lol
@@sebastianzarek7056casts affect bosses?!
@@TSG140-2 Yeah! It's a must for dodging cerberus and chronos.
I am facing the consequences of relying too much on merciful end fists with extra Hermes dashes.
Yeah it's no doubt a lot better and useful even if you don't upgrade it a lot (whereas the cast in 1 could be worthless a lot of the time)
Any boon from Hestia, Apollo or Demeter that involves your cast becomes terrifying. I particularly like Hestia and Apollo, because being able to summon a circle of fire to destroy your enemies is kinda awesome
Zeus's cast is also pretty good.
Zeus boon combined with demeter boon and upgraded to the max is most terrifying...
Demeter’s cast options are insane. I basically needed them when I was doing the level 32 fear challenge runs. And add Zeus into the mix and the enemies can’t get close, can’t move and there constantly getting bombarded with lightning
I agree, Demeter boons surely feel stronger in Hades 2.
I know that's a long list, but it's honestly great, and more can be added on top of it
making the credits roll is just finishing it a bunch of times until your mother finishes her story and comes back home with you... then all you gotta do is increase affinity with all the gods and that's it
aye your quality is so good for vids from sum1 with under 1k subs keep it up man
Once you unlock the weapon aspects, the Charon version of the Moonstone Axe can be super broken.
With the new update, its really feeling like this game is gonna have a "are we the villains?" moment.
Bruh what
Chronos imprision all the characters of Hades 1 and wants to rule the universe
Where you are evil than that ? Hades, Zeus and Poseidón can be the bad ones not the protagonist 😂
Knowing Greek mythology…A lot of them have ruin many lives
Well Melinoe is mostly fighting to save her family. Helping Olympus is important too, but her main interest is freeing Hades and the other underworld gods. She is not responsible for the disagreements and morals of the war.
It's outrageous that you have 500 subscribers, honestly, you deserve a lot more, great content, loved Hades I, will love the Hades II
Oh my man, the cast is the cornerstone of any build. You’re definitely missing out.
I agree, I used to be a cast hater, but I realized it's actually quite good
My only real gripe with the early access approach is when early players post spoilers as content.
I like using apollo's prominence flare that rapidly deals damage when a cast expires, combine that with hestia's glowing coal that lets you fire casts from a big distance, it's just unbeatable
really loved your energy man :D subbeddd ++
A build with Apollo's cast will be really powerful
That and Hestia/Demeter. Hestia helps with crowd clearing and Demeter slows down enemies and gives you time to clear out the more deadly foes.
the only use I managed from the cast is in the fields of mourning agains the boxing guys that cant reach you when they get caught in the cast
The cast is a staple of hades II kit. With a good boon it can be the lynch pin of a play through
Well for the dash, first of all Melinoe is MUCH more distance focused so having 2 dashes would be BROKEN.
Mel's cast with Demeter's Cast boon outputs some very very good CC.
For the cast, there is a Hestia boon that allows you to throw it instead of placing it below you, which can feel a lot better especially against bosses where you usually have to risk your life just to place it
Yeah, combined with the icarus upgrade wich make a big explosion around it as well, it's a lot of damage.
What? Hades 1 runs were also split into 4 regions?
Yup exactly
About the casts, it may be just me, but i find them extraordinarily rewarding, the augments you can add to them, the fact it locks enemies in place making melee opponents much simpler to deal with, and the huge burst of damage at the end, i just hold the button periodically to add dps, sorta like i did in hades 1, though i can see where some people might not find any use in it
Demeter's Local Climate, with Apollo's Super Nova with a Zeus, Aphrodite or Hestia cast is beyond chef kiss. Casts have become what I care about chasing boons for the most.
3:24 it's so fitting to the art classification that he wrote Undertale two times 😂
You have to beat it 10 tines to continue the dialogue each time with Persephone for the credits to roll (and then a few more times for true ending)
Hades 1 also had 4 areas, namely the maze…
I'd say the most consistent use I get out of the Hades 2 cast is stopping chasing enemies in their tracks.
You can stack up a lot of Scorch via the Omega Flourish and then cause it to burst with Demeter
To establish my credibility, I've got 160+ hours in Hades 2 and close to 800 hours in Hades 1.
6:50 H2 cast build for you:
Aspect of Persephone with Zeus's cast.
So you don't count the Temple of Styx as a main Area ?
My god finish hades
I've been working on it I'm just very bad at this game!! 😭
I bought the original game on PS4, PS5 and PC and have completed it 100% multiple times putting hundreds of hours into it. I bought Hades 2 the second it was available and have put nearly 100 hours into that as well, even though it is still in early access.
Ah Hades, I remember dying so many times in Asphodel. Hades II is amazing. I liked the new mechanics.
8:10 there are 4 main sections in hades 1 actually: tartarus, asphadel, elysium and the temple of styx
8:13 first of all, did you forget the temple of Styx existed? It is 100% a 4th biome for hades 1, and not considering it a biome while saying that hades 2 Tartarus is seems a bit unfair
I absolutely love the outfit of your character.
I am forever cursed to Persona 5 being an essential part of my branding ahha but thank you so much!
"Videogames are art"
"Supergiant, just do what you think will appeal to the masses"
:/
Demeter, and Zeus turn your cast amazing. Also Apollo has lucid gain ( infinite mana pretty much) and some good cast buffs.
I've heard almost exclusively positive things about Hades II, and I can't freaking wait to play it. I'm so down for this.
the new cast i found really usefull to proc origination (the card that gives +50% dmg) at the start of my playtrough I felt the same as u, but watching a lot of Haelian videos made me realize thats one of the main reasons u sould use it, find a boon that procs a condition (hera and demeter are the easiest ones) and just cast it right under the enemys right before using ur combo
Lovin the overwatch call out
With context too, it’s only a matter of time when the ovw devs realize they’re losing more money on 5v5 and how they treat balance changes like fixing an antique scale with a jack hammer.
Cast is reqlly powerful. If you get the boon from Zeus or Apollo that adds extra damage to cast and then get boon from hestia to throw the cast. It is really powerful.
Cast is actually insane
Most stuff has been said but there is one thing that I want to mention. While yes, only one dash, it feels way more controllable. I went back to hades 1, to finish some stories after playing over 100 hours of 2 and I just can't get the timing right. Dodging in Hades 1 seems so weird to me, it never works reliable. And I can't seem to finish with more than 17 skulls. Death Defiance also shows how often enemies are actually not hitting you, while you take damage.
I feel like people forget that Hades 2 _isn't_ a sequel gameplay wise, its supposed to be standalone
GUESS WHOS BACK
BACK AGAIN
I without exaggeration didn't know the game was released
I’ll make a comment on the cast thing here because I didn’t like it at first either. The whole point of it is to trap moving enemies (especially armored ones) because it makes everything but guardians stay in the circle. You can also add stuff to this like Apollo’s boon that makes it a blast, demeter’s that makes it a cyclone and my personal favorite of hestia’s that makes it do constant burn damage inside. It’s something that you utilize on top of what you make your attack and special. It is different than zag’s cast in that it doesn’t really damage or shoot, but it’s really vital to giving yourself opportunities especially now that you can charge for omega attacks (I will say it does take getting used to but after playing a while it becomes like second nature to use it)
Hey it's a bit refreshing to see someone on RUclips admitting NOT finishing a game. I think your comments about Hades 2 are valid. Thanks for sharing.
Don't know if it was on purpose, but Undertale being present twice on the list of games that prove games are art was very funny.
I'm not the first to point this out but mixing the cast into Melinoe's combo is really important for latter difficulties (+20% dmg from a cheap card for example)
Casts are can help you deal so much damage
Try Charon Axe and put Hephaestus' Anvil Ring + Poseidon's Geyser Spout + Seismic Hammer (Duo of Hephaestus & Poseidon) and that's one of my personal satisfying Cast Build. You can also add Lucid Gain (Apollo boon) and Grand Caldera for bigger explosion.
50%and 100% buff the cast deals 180 damage easy to use it to kill minor enemies
2 credits
1 finish game 10 time
2nd ending bring peace with Olympians gods
3:23 Undertale is so good it appeared twice lol
I am SO glad someone finally noticed that ahahah
