Love how you list out the area, and materials needed right from the get go. Not only that you build it layer by layer. Your attention to detail in tutorials makes it really easy for someone playing survival and wanting to build this.
LOADING TECHNIQUE:Worked great. I used a dirt holding pen. I put a powered track that had access to the load the breeding cell via a one block escape route where even the babies couldn't escape. It made loading a breeze, the cows do take a little damage warping through the top block, but non the less, they make it out. Just link the track up with another track switch and alternate which side you are loading. Thanks, big fan.
This is an amazing tutorial. Not only is the machine fantastic but the video layout and easy to follow instructions with the layers being shown slowly for people like me is just great. Thankyou kindly for spending the time to make this video.
that's actually a good question. Since every animal have a 5 min cd for breeding and it takes around 9 seconds to finish the whole process in the machine for a couple of animals (give wheat, baby animal, parents into the cells again) I would say that with 17 ~ double cells would be enough to reach the cycle of 5 minutes without an end, maybe 20 to be sure
This new tutorial format is awesome. I like the annotations. Brilliant. Can easily go to see what's next if I have to log off and the job is unfinished. Much easier than trying to shuttle through video on my slow connection. Brilliantly done!
untested. but in theory yes. might have trouble breeding pigs in this bay but it hasent been tested... may also need to re wire the redstone connection to the old cells too
Every time i make one i try and avoiding doing that. i can't help but feel if i don't point it out someone will miss it. Perhaps next time i will take a different approach. more of a copy what you see here and maybe point out some less obvious things. How does that sound?
This is awesome. Just like to point out that if you are too lazy to build the machine, just hold the mouse cursor high enough to hit the grown-ups and not babies. And youll have a pretty good success rate with the sword, not killing babies.
I really appreciate all of the effort that you put into these tutorials xisuma. Your layer by layer tutorials are much easier to follow than a video of the machine being built. Keep up the great work man!
Improvements needed: 1: send back the BABY, not the spent animal. 2: Opt to auto kill used adult or ship it for manual slaugher. 3: Cycle the whole set automaticly for each maiting pair. So it is alwayse automatic and halts when it cycle ends. 4: View window to see if the Cycle is reset (View next animal to see if it is a baby). 4: working cow/pig/chicken minimum (farmworthy types for kill method). This setup is good for dogs/cats. There should only be ONE button in a perfected breeder.
Thanks, Xisuma. I fixed my problem, it had to do with some glass I placed incorrectly. Now all they do is that weird smp glitch, but the game still considers them in the minecarts, from what I can tell. Thanks for your help, and thanks for such a great design that works in 1.3!
Great tutorial as always! You've really turned what could easily be a huge headache of a build into something that seems very manageable. Small thing though, at 7:10 you said "redstone torch" when I'm pretty sure you meant "redstone dust". Not a huge deal as it's pretty obvious what it actually is.
A tip: When you make tutorials you should have a third wool color that represent blocks you put ting on (like red stone, repeaters and stuff like that, not blocks).
Great tutorial Xisuma! (As always!) I have a couple of questions: Are the breeding cells logout safe? And do I build the breeding cells directly behind each other or can I use some of the blocks from the previous cell and use it as part of the next breeding cell? Thanks again for the content you provide!
Nice compact design! I wonder will the animals glitch out of the minecart when logging out in SMP? Previous version of Docm's motherboard had this problem
It may be log out proof on some servers, but the bukkit server I play on it isn't. Spent a few hours making a 5 bay setup and loading cows, got up this morning to 50% of the cows just walking around and the carts empty. I don't think it is the ABM fault but rather a fault with the server software itself though. But be warned you mileage may vary and it may or may not be log out proof on the server you play on. Still an awesome machine and hopefully 1.4 will make it work for me as well.
Oh man.. To think that your tutorials could be made even better :O! Those options at the beginning are just awesome man! Perfect! I really like your style! Always give a full 100% at making something and doing it perfect! Also of course this design is epic and I am almost sure I'll use it in my LP world! :D Goodbye man! - The Dutch Island
This is a precise but slow way to breed. A better way nowadays would be to simply use a water dispenser to cause a 1x1x2h pouch full of animals to bob up and down while you feed them wheat from above. Expend a stack for exactly 32 baby animals.
Great tutorial Xisuma, but I have a question for you, you might have got this asked before, but is there a way to farm Wither Skeletons? I'd really like a cool-looking and efficient Wither Skeleton farm, but I am not sure what I have to do to make something like that, and I don't know if it's even possible. What do you think about the idea? Anyways, love the videos, keep them coming! :D
Just as a FYI for you, figured out why this refuses to work for my setup ..... its Railcraft, don't know why yet, but removing Railcraft allowed minecarts to stay on top of paintings as supposed to instead of glitching right throu them (as painting wasn't there at all).
I built this and 4 cells exactly as you built it, and then under the tripwire added a little water receptacle pen for the babies instead of them falling into the void. However, when I move a set of sheep into the holding cells, the carts fall right past the paintings and don't stop. What's wrong?
Nice Tutorial and design - Cheers. Just a heads up, ''"Full auto'' is a problem in new snapshot (12w41b i noticed it in). Now you get xp for breeding animals; the xp orbs fall and set off the tripwire (yeah genius mojang) and quickly fire pistons off, sometimes hover there causing all kinds of problems. Using buttons manually still works fine though,, Thanks :)
Why don't you put in a Wheat dispenser? :D You could easily put in two that each fire once when you press the rotate button, or one that fires two times, that could be a bit more difficult but could look better. Just a Idea I had. ;)
the glass blocks on the rails needs to be removed, because i found the carts do not pass through the blocks, even transparent, I'm not sure if this design was a glitch base design, but those glass blocks really caused the machine to break down, because with them on, there is simply nothing going on when i hit anything... What were the glass blocks for anyway? They don't serve any use from what i can see...
you can probably use pressure plates where the animals land, then push it with a piston /water remember that the trip wire is new and its maybe gliched in smp.
Thank you for your wonderful tutorial, the design is great. One question though, the hit box of the picture frames are not holding up the minecarts. Is there another alternative to replacing them while still allowing the babies to fall through? Thanks!
I'm having the exact same issues. Logging in and out sometimes puts them back where they belong, but it's touchy. Sometimes works, sometimes not. I think perhaps going over six holding cells has caused the issue here. Maybe Xisuma can test the cell count limit on a server?
the breeding machine is a bit buggy in the new snapshot because it seems like the minecarts move faster on the track now so it jams up all the time. also the hooks aren't working for me but i think thats just a temporary glitch in the snapshot. :)
trap door wont work since the redstone likes to close it, use a ladder instead and a question for xisuma- what purpose does the glass serve? seems to just get in my way while trying to fill the machine but doesnt seem to help keep the animals situated
I've already done that. It's working perfectly in your map but so buggy in mine. Cart stuck in glasses, cows glitches. I'm pretty sure i built it right but i'll check one more time. Thanks for the reply anyway

With very slight modifications, this works in 1.8.1 still!
Great build, Xisumavoid!
It may not be the most efficient farm, but it sure looks neat!
Im glad you find it useful :)
This is an amazing tutorial. Not only is the machine fantastic but the video layout and easy to follow instructions with the layers being shown slowly for people like me is just great.

Mobs do not glitch out of this design. Those problems were fixed with 1.3

I think it would be well worth the upgrade, as long as your the type that enjoys construction
Thanks buddy! I put a lot of effort into it im glad you see that :)
a few hours. after making these machine for so long it doesnt take long to put together a new one :)
They are getting better, because you are explaining your builds. Thanks man, love the stuff!
Every time i make one i try and avoiding doing that. i can't help but feel if i don't point it out someone will miss it. Perhaps next time i will take a different approach. more of a copy what you see here and maybe point out some less obvious things. How does that sound?

This is one of the best tutorials I have ever seen, great job Xisuma!
You really do rock at these animal breeding systems buddy :)
I said it on reddit, but I'll say it here. You have made the single most amazing tutorial ever. Liked, favourited, subscribed.
X, you make, by far, THE best Mincraft tutorials i've ever seen! Amazing work again!
Improvements needed: 1: send back the BABY, not the spent animal. 2: Opt to auto kill used adult or ship it for manual slaugher. 3: Cycle the whole set automaticly for each maiting pair. download the map and compare, so u can check if u built it right
Awesome. I especially like the use of the tripwire at the bottom.
Great tutorial as always! You've really turned what could easily be a huge headache of a build into something that seems very manageable. Small thing though, at 7:10 you said "redstone torch" when I'm pretty sure you meant "redstone dust". Not a huge deal as it's pretty obvious what it actually is.
cells stack back to back and are logout proof :)
this tutorial reminds me of old school instructions for Legos :) nice design btw
A tip: When you make tutorials you should have a third wool color that represent blocks you put ting on (like red stone, repeaters and stuff like that, not blocks).
I only found your tutorials a little while ago, but I'm so glad I did. They are wonderfully clear and easy to follow. Thank you! =)
Sure build one of the older ABMs
All right, a breeding system for 1.3. Thanks, Xisuma!
Great tutorial Xisuma! (As always!) I have a couple of questions: Are the breeding cells logout safe? And do I build the breeding cells directly behind each other or can I use some of the blocks from the previous cell and use it as part of the next breeding cell? Thanks again for the content you provide!
you do not need emerald blocks they are indicators
You released the video exactly when I finished building doc's motherboard 3.0 in my ssp world D:
Really clear tutorial for something so complicated. I'm gonna try it! Thanks for what must been a lot of work making it.
Nice compact design!
I wonder will the animals glitch out of the minecart when logging out in SMP?
Previous version of Docm's motherboard had this problem

Welcome aboard :D
animals leave cells on logout, thats what the breeding cells are for.
where ever you want them to go

Always give a full 100% at making something and doing it perfect! Also of course this design is epic and I am almost sure I'll use it in my LP world! :D Goodbye man! - The Dutch Island
wow, Xisuma, you make great tutorials. really organized.
This is a precise but slow way to breed. A better way nowadays would be to simply use a water dispenser to cause a 1x1x2h pouch full of animals to bob up and down while you feed them wheat from above. Expend a stack for exactly 32 baby animals.

best tutorial that ive ever seen before. good job
Your tutorials are surprisingly good! Thank you!
remove the blocks before u place the trip wire
oh my gosh xisumavoid you take so much to time to make your videos its insane in a good way! i like your videos and hope to see more!
One word Xisuma: AWESOME!!!
Well, just build what i show u one layer at a time, replicate whats on the screen
I don't think I'll ever use this in a legit world, but this was fun to watch :D
well this is faster, more efficient and cheaper to build, so win win :)
Thanks for letting me know :-)
I built this and 4 cells exactly as you built it, and then under the tripwire added a little water receptacle pen for the babies instead of them falling into the void. However, when I move a set of sheep into the holding cells, the carts fall right past the paintings and don't stop. What's wrong?
yes it is
they work in smp because its the same as ssp :-)
Great work xisuma! Will you update Atlantis to use this new design?
no problem buddy :)
Very well explained, and doing it by layers is much better for understanding how to build it. Thanks so much ^.^
The food requirement has changed for some animals. For example, if you are useing this for pigs, I believe Carrots are required to breed them
Great Tutorial i built my 4 chamber one in around an hour cause i put the chambers backwards and didnt notice till i was one my second lol
Awesome!
I think I just watched the best minecraft Tutorial ever :)
Definately gonna build one of those :)
Nice Tutorial and design - Cheers.
Just a heads up, ''"Full auto'' is a problem in new snapshot (12w41b i noticed it in).
Now you get xp for breeding animals; the xp orbs fall and set off the tripwire (yeah genius mojang) and quickly fire pistons off, sometimes hover there causing all kinds of problems.

i think i know what design your talking about and its quite buggy
Why don't you put in a Wheat dispenser? :D
You could easily put in two that each fire once when you press the rotate button, or one that fires two times, that could be a bit more difficult but could look better.
Just a Idea I had. ;)
cubehamster and pg5 have them i do believe

you can probably use pressure plates where the animals land, then push it with a piston /water
remember that the trip wire is new and its maybe gliched in smp.
You have the most awesome tutorials on youtube! :D
interesting design xisuma might build one in the future
Thank you for your wonderful tutorial, the design is great.
One question though, the hit box of the picture frames are not holding up the minecarts.
Is there another alternative to replacing them while still allowing the babies to fall through?
Thanks!
Hey , the video docm77 was talking about , nice video xisuma
High quality tutorial as always. Well done!
ABC is the animal breding cell
yes, and smp is ssp
I SPENT HALF AN HOUR DOING THIS now I'm tired yawn great tutorial :D
Possibly. we shall see ;-)
I'm having the exact same issues. Logging in and out sometimes puts them back where they belong, but it's touchy. Sometimes works, sometimes not. I think perhaps going over six holding cells has caused the issue here.
Maybe Xisuma can test the cell count limit on a server?
Very nice tutorial. I can actually build this thing now. Thanks.
download the map and compare to what you built
Do you know that you are the best youtuber I've evr seen?
smooth and easy to follow just like lego instructions :P
this machine can't work with chickens cause they lay eggs on the track
Haha I was just trying to figure one of these out myself! Thanks xisuma, this is perfect!
these tutorials are amazing and so helpful! thanks man
the breeding machine is a bit buggy in the new snapshot because it seems like the minecarts move faster on the track now so it jams up all the time. also the hooks aren't working for me but i think thats just a temporary glitch in the snapshot. :)
yup
Can you make a tutorial on a potion room? I can't wait to see that :)
Man! Thanks for making it much more cheap (or sheep :P) I am having a hard time finding slimes so this is awesome!
Absolutely genius machine! Will there be a new pig breeder?
Amazing! I love it. :P Are you gonna update your 'Atlantis' world save with this?
Thanks mate :D
Can this be extended as long as you want? I would like one so big that by the time it cycles all the way through, you can breed the first ones again.
another great tutorial xisuma well done and thanks for all your hard work keep it up :)
trap door wont work since the redstone likes to close it, use a ladder instead
and a question for xisuma- what purpose does the glass serve? seems to just get in my way while trying to fill the machine but doesnt seem to help keep the animals situated
yes it has to be. this is very odd!
in 1.3 there is no ssp/smp, its all the same thing
I've already done that. It's working perfectly in your map but so buggy in mine. Cart stuck in glasses, cows glitches. I'm pretty sure i built it right but i'll check one more time.
Thanks for the reply anyway
Oh and by the way,the ariel view thing helped alot :D
