      xisumavoid What's ironic, is that you posted a Don't Starve steam announcement, and this is the animal breeding farm, where you get all of your food late-game.

    "I feel like animal breeding has been well and truly explored and it will probably take some updates and new features..." It seems more like you lost interest after 2013. I don't see anything about rabbit or horse breeding in this list. Also you don't even mention fully automated passive mob farms, that rely on spawning.

    • @supahvaporeon
      @supahvaporeon 9 лет назад +1

      ilmango Rabbits behave a lot more like chickens to be honest. Horses are weird and really too difficult to make a special farm for unless you have some sort of special gauging method for them.

    • @Sancarn
      @Sancarn 9 лет назад +1

      supahvaporeon "Also you don't even mention fully automated passive mob farms, that rely on spawning"
      Horses are absolutely a reason to make a passive mob farm actually! Horses are almost required to farm via spawning. I agree with mango, Xisy maybe should have covered those but then again they aren't breeders (but to be far nor were the chicken hatchers)

    • @ilmango
      @ilmango 9 лет назад +1

      supahvaporeon How do rabbits behave like chicken? People have made specialized farms for rabbits. Check out docm's video for example. Their behaviour (teleportation to a player) also changed, which made new farms possible. Also they give a rare drop unlike the chickens. A few weeks ago I made a video about a fully AFKable rabbit's foot farm. Also attempts have been made to automate horse breeding, but as far as I know nobody made a highly automated horse breeding farm. Probably because breeding is to inefficient, as sancarn pointed out.
      My point stands: Xisuma mentioned every minor detail until 2013, but ignored the development after that.

    Honestly X, I think this could be a very cool series, like The History of Minecraft. You could do this same style video with a lot of different areas of the game, like mob farms, iron farms, redstone mechanics, maybe glitches and duplication bugs, idk just a lot of cool ideas you could do, it's very interesting to see how the game has evolved into how we play it today

    This brings back memories, i remember a long time ago i was playing survival and wanted a breeding machine and i dug out a GIANT room underground for it and everything. I was all ready to build the ultimate breeding machine and everything. Then i got up the next day and the big update came out where the thing didn't work anymore... so i had this HUGE empty room that i wanted to use for some breeding machine... then i found the compact design somewhere online and i felt stupid putting something that small inside a room i made for something as giant as the previous design....

    It's pretty crazy when you think about how far animal breeding has come. Huge modules, with snaking redstone and crazy minecart magic all over the place, to a 3x3x3 module, with only water and lava dispensers. Four years (give or take) that changed the face of pretty much every redstone contraption you can think of. I've been playing for about a year and a half, but compared to you and a bunch of others, that's nothing. Good job, xisuma, good job.

    My favorite things you have done are on this are the chicken auto cooker you showed near the end, which I use more than any other animal farm for it's ease and convenience, and the puking rainbow sheep farm you did recently with the clever grazing platforms to regenerate the wool because I think that is a really neat way to do it.

    Thanks for all your hard work, X. I still use your chicken breeder!
    I would have to say the best breeding machine is Impulse's cow farm. I put both sheep and cows in mine and connected a villager farming cell to it.
    I consider it the most overpowered food farm ever at that point.

  • @supahvaporeon
    @supahvaporeon 9 лет назад

    I have to say, we have definitely come a long way with breeding and redstoning in the past few years. One big problem though is that we have reached critical mass with farms, in that we can't make them any smaller or more efficient without command blocks or simply adding a longer cooking delay/more animals.
    The only thing we can do at this point with breeders is if Mojang introduces a new concept that changes everything with animals, or adds a new mob with special drops that can only be obtained in certain ways.
    We just recently got a rumor of turtles being added, so maybe the shells can only be harvested in a certain way to keep the shields from becoming too immediately farmable.
    Great Video Xisuma, even though cell breeders are obsolete, they still look badass in a redstone testing lab X3

    Oh the nostalgia feels *sniff* It's nice to see the history behind current technology, even minecraft technology XD. I recall quite a few videos and instances you have used this machines, lovely video. It would be interesting to see something like this for other contraption. It might be a little difficult to do since you weren't as involved in them and such (TBT?), but perhaps you could do a collab with one of the pioneers of the topic and have a series of the evolution of: elevators, storage systems, railing , etc.

    I feel like my animals, sheep anyway, are always glitching in to die blocks and out of their pens in 1.8. I started playing minecraft right when they released 1.8, so the past stuff is strange and mind bending. I saw a video of DocM in which he introduced you as one of the masters of massive and cruel animal breeding, or some such, and I thought woah that contraption is huge and ridiculous!

    • @xisumavoid
      @xisumavoid  9 лет назад

      Aaron Williams Doesnt happen in 1.8 :-)

    • @sherizaahd
      @sherizaahd 9 лет назад

      xisumavoid Well, I have a whole pile of dead sheep that beg to differ with that statement. I don't have them in a single block cell though, so that is a distinct difference from your example in the video so I expect that's the situation you're specifically addressing. My Cows in a single block breeding cell do not glitch out, and oddly enough my pigs in a 5x6 dirt block pen don't either. But the sheep are always pushing each other into the walls of the pen to kill each other off. I had used fences, but then the animals would wind up wandering around the world. I suppose I ought to just shove them all into a single cell by color to avoid them pushing the prettier colored ones in to die.
