The new emissions laws and regulations have had a significant impact on certain auto brands. For instance, Chevy and Ford have been able to continue producing their flagship models without major changes. In Chevy's case, they even introduced a larger V8 for the new C8, thanks to their proactive approach to releasing EV and hybrid models to meet government-mandated MPG requirements. It all comes down to European laws about emissions. The bigger your production engine (about displacement and cylinders), the more tax you pay and the their noise regulations are as annoying as f*** . My car must be loud so that they see the car I'm driving
German car makers Opel and Borgward feel lucky as they aren't facing any heavy backlash like how the top 5 German car makers are facing, furthermore, Opel could never achieve a huge fame like Mercedes Benz and Volkswagen, so they have least or nothing to lose, meanwhile, Borgward is a short lived discontinued brand yet they made incredible cars in its era and has a decent fanbase.
As some others mentioned, Porsche is generally sticking to their guns. They dropped the twin turbo V6 in the Cayenne S and returned to V8 power. Buuuuutt... They also dropped the Cayenne Turbo S [e-hybrid] in favor of the [significantly more powerful] Cayenne Turbo e-hybrid. I guess the Turbo GT kind of steps in for both the GTS and Turbo S. They also dropped the Panamera Sport Tourismo, which shouldn't have been made in the first place. From all outward appearances, it was literally just a Cayenne with a slammed suspension and a chopped top. Yet, it weighs more than a Cayenne.
The Germans don’t do that primarily to take something away, furthermore they need to comply with harder and harder regulations. Every car needs to be more “ecofrendly”than the one before. This leads to downsizing, which leads to smaller engines. And they want to save cost. Gone are the days with really iconic cars like the W124.
The problem with German cars is they are excessively complex and they make them require special, harder to get supplies to maintain them. I drive a 2011 Jetta TDI/DSG. Costs around $700 to service the transaxle and the TCM cost $1500-3000 just for the part.
People need to stop talking shit Bmw had no choice to put the hybrid systems if they wanted to keep their V8 so it’s normal the car is heavy (V8+hybrid systems) At least will still have the V8 for a couple years They didn’t try to downsize their engine like Mercedes
I feel like this is a common theme with the main 3 German automakers. They each have their own generation where they are on top and the other two are falling behind. Last gen it was all bmw with the M8, the F90, the F90 CS and the introduction of the B58/S58. The gen before that was AMG bc they still had that German muscle car feel even though they turbocharged their whole AMG lineup. Now this new gen will be Audi. It’s no wonder he didn’t include them at the beginning bc that’s just how the main 3 German automakers are, it’s just an endless cycle that’s been repeating for a while.
Love the descriptions said for the automakers. BMW - sports oriented but luxurious Benz - luxurious oriented but sporty Audi - rally oriented but luxurious VW - accessibility oriented but sporty And the hybrid system in bmw making it super heavy just seems odd since Porsche just revealed their new 911 with a hybrid system that weighs ~100-300 lbs And lets be honest, that 4cyl c63 is about to be the cheapest and or entry level c63 out there. Also audi is cooking with its rs series.
With people complaining about the new M5, would you rather have a 4 cyl m5 or no m5 at all? That’s what we thought. If you want a m5 LTW, that would be nice but it isn’t what we got so there’s no reason to complain
Y’all should relax, cars are getting heavier, even Porsches are all getting heavier, the Bugatti Turbion is almost a 2 tonne car, the Mercedes AMG GT63s E-Performance is over 2200kilos and that’s supposed to be a sports or super car so why mad when a family sedan weighs 2400kgs, y’all should chill please, these companies have to comply with EU regulations and still manage to give us performance cars, but all you guys do it sit and complain while 99% of the ones complaining will never even afford these cars…
The AMG GT Black series is my viper ACR in Germany. But the new model for 2024 left alot to be desired. Same to this Bavarian, if more weight then more power...like 880hp is not bad
Honestly EPA is the reason why this all happening I don’t think the brands wants this but with regulations this the only way they can make sales resulting unhappy enthusiasts.
What I struggle to understand is why these brands can’t make the cars we actually want and whatever nonsense new market they’re trying to appease🤷🏿♂️. The vast majority of people do drive or car about the AMG or the M cars. Those of us that do actually buy them and aspire to buy them one day. Alienating us won’t help because we ain’t buying these efficient, silent road warriors they keep shoving down our throats.
The EU emission regulations are what's forcing the German car brands to hybridize the cars. The emission regulations in the USA aren't as strict like in Europe hence why brands like Ford and Chevrolet can still make V8 powered cars without hybridisation. German cars are also louder in the USA than in Europe due to the soft-limiters, which also adds to my points. It was a big mistake for Mercedes-AMG to put a 4 cylinder engine in new C63 because almost all their AMG 55/63 models have V8 engines. The C63 should've gotten a V8 engine, as it's one of the best-selling models. BMW could've put an I6 engine in the M5 or made it fully electric but they didn't. They've kept the V8 engine and yes, it's heavy but I think it was a good compromise. And I doubt that the new M5 will be slower than the F90. We shall wait for the reviews to start coming in October to see if it's an upgrade or a downgrade. But knowing BMW, some of you will be eating humble pie 😂. Porsche started this game of high-performance hybrid sedans with the Panamera Turbo S E-hybrid, Mercedes-AMG followed with the GT63 S E Performance, then BMW with new G90 M5 and Audi will join them with the RS7 Avant next year. None of the models I've mentioned, except for the RS7 Avant, weigh less than 2,300kg. This is the way guys, let's adjust to the standards.
I had rather buy the og Bmw f10 series 550i which can beat the big fat ass m5 hybrid easily, which is way cheaper to buy with the cost of maintaining it
I honestly don't think that mercedes is falling off at all. I don't think mercedes was like you said, full focus always on performance. Their regular non amg models are insanely good. I heard they're going to be releasing a 2025 CLE AMG cabriolet. If they do, that is pretty much my dream car except the sl roadster based on how each drives, how much leg room in the back of the cabriolet, etc. I don't think mercedes is falling off at all. It's still my dream company and I feel extremely lucky to own a 2016 c300
If they’re gonna put a bunch of emissions junk in then make the junk easy to remove and downtune the engine so that buyers can remove it and uptune it and bingo more power
Idk about ford and chevy, ford is still making the mustang and chevy while yes they canceled the camaro its big brother is still kicking ass and taking names, 1065 hp on pump gas is insane
I don,t know how it is in America But in Europe car brands have a lots of rules and they become stricter and stricter that,s why we have those abdomination plus the tax are huge for big engines
Car fans are not car buyers. Usually people with the resources to buy a c63 or m5 are not the ones watching youtube or readin reddit, so they make cars appealing to those who can afford them, not to those who will buy them used in 15 years

Well Porsche invented a fuel called EFuel, which works like a gas car but it doesn't make CO2. This means that gas cars can stay longer with EFuel
It's funny how making the batteries are just as hurtful for the environment as cars yet they still try to ruin them
People need to stop talking shit
Bmw had no choice to put the hybrid systems if they wanted to keep their V8 so it’s normal the car is heavy (V8+hybrid systems)
At least will still have the V8 for a couple years
They didn’t try to downsize their engine like Mercedes
The hellcat at the beginning, well well well
I feel like this is a common theme with the main 3 German automakers.
BMW - sports oriented but luxurious
Benz - luxurious oriented but sporty
Audi - rally oriented but luxurious
VW - accessibility oriented but sporty
And the hybrid system in bmw making it super heavy just seems odd since Porsche just revealed their new 911 with a hybrid system that weighs ~100-300 lbs
And lets be honest, that 4cyl c63 is about to be the cheapest and or entry level c63 out there. Also audi is cooking with its rs series.
I mean the BMW 5series be busin 🔥
and then opel has been sniffing glue on a corner for the past 30 years
With people complaining about the new M5, would you rather have a 4 cyl m5 or no m5 at all? That’s what we thought. If you want a m5 LTW, that would be nice but it isn’t what we got so there’s no reason to complain
electrification can definitely add 1000kg if you want it to be useful as an EV.
Y’all should relax, cars are getting heavier, even Porsches are all getting heavier, the Bugatti Turbion is almost a 2 tonne car, the Mercedes AMG GT63s E-Performance is over 2200kilos and that’s supposed to be a sports or super car so why mad when a family sedan weighs 2400kgs, y’all should chill please, these companies have to comply with EU regulations and still manage to give us performance cars, but all you guys do it sit and complain while 99% of the ones complaining will never even afford these cars…
dont give the manufacturers benefit of the doubt
@@romie-777he’s just using his brain dawg 🤷♂️
that's NOT normal
Mercedes combustion cars still look insanely well. the EQ line and the 4 cyl AMG are misssteps which are being corrected as we speak
It is not fair to criticize cars that you have never driven. Yes, you are correct on several points. Simply go and drive the cars initially.
I guess we have to cherish the classics because no one is listening.
the new m5 does 0 to 60 in 3.4 sec compared to old one which was 4.4 sec
I've switched to supporting Porsche, they haven't followed this path much but I'm scared of the future.
I thought u were gonna show me the sound of the Benz
I did
@@SocialOrbit that bad uh?
4:14 Nah bro I got a 4 banger CAMRY that revs harder than that 💀💀💀
It has a rev limiter when in neutral, for emissions.
I had rather buy the og Bmw f10 series 550i which can beat the big fat ass m5 hybrid easily, which is way cheaper to buy with the cost of maintaining it
I'm a bit worried that these cars could get so heavy to the point where a Toyota Tacoma can't even tow them on a trailer XD
I’ll never forgive Mercedes for what they’ve done to the AMG🤦🏿♂️
That’s exactly why i wouldn’t want the new M5
I honestly don't think that mercedes is falling off at all. I don't think mercedes was like you said, full focus always on performance. Their regular non amg models are insanely good. I heard they're going to be releasing a 2025 CLE AMG cabriolet. If they do, that is pretty much my dream car except the sl roadster based on how each drives, how much leg room in the back of the cabriolet, etc. I don't think mercedes is falling off at all. It's still my dream company and I feel extremely lucky to own a 2016 c300
Sadist ive been is yamaha discontinuing the r1 😢 i was hopeing to buy one when im older but guess thats gone
Audi, Porsche, Skoda and Genesis are hands down killing it tho
Edit: Damn, I nearly forgot Nissan with their new GTR
If they’re gonna put a bunch of emissions junk in then make the junk easy to remove and downtune the engine so that buyers can remove it and uptune it and bingo more power
In europe u cant have a catless car or a full exhaust and in 2035 in europe there will be only electric cars(thats what i saw on tv)
Meanwhile Opel: Can't have a falloff when nobody knows you.
Idk about ford and chevy, ford is still making the mustang and chevy while yes they canceled the camaro its big brother is still kicking ass and taking names, 1065 hp on pump gas is insane
I don,t know how it is in America
But in Europe car brands have a lots of rules and they become stricter and stricter that,s why we have those abdomination plus the tax are huge for big engines
I actually kind of like the new m5. Its a boat but i dont have a problem with that, its like a charger but with a better interior
Car fans are not car buyers. Usually people with the resources to buy a c63 or m5 are not the ones watching youtube or readin reddit, so they make cars appealing to those who can afford them, not to those who will buy them used in 15 years
Would be a valid point if they weren’t at an all time low in sales
Yeah the gtd is a masterpeice
4:53 please give also the stats in an EU measure. Cheers from Italy!
