Funny I used to say that Anderson is like The hip Hop version of bruno. But I never really thought about them collabing together. This is one of the best collabs ever. This is probably the closest to a Michael Jackson James Brown collab that we'll ever get

After last night and Put on a smile are just simply amazing songs, I don't even know to properly describe it but man they just speak to you and have you feeling that way even if your life itself isnt even feeling that way leading into listening the song.
Blast off kinda felt like a sleeper to me but kinda one of my favs now, just nice sound to cruise to

@@dontbemad6460 Anderson and Bruno stated there are some errors on the credit list but that all drums are Anderson. Any Anderson fan knows his drums it is clearly him.

@@dontbemad6460 Anderson and Bruno said every drum is Anderson, I don’t know what else to tell you, they said it on at least 5 of the last interviews in the last 2 weeks.
@@tamarawhiteurst8727 yeah cause its almost every song and he would have come up with the groove. Doesn’t mean he’s the one in the recording. Credits are credits. You should know how in recordings things are redone over and over again, so in the final cut Bruno (who has played drums in a number of his records) used his own version. This doesn’t take anything away from Andy, its just facts

The guys did an interview and said that Put on a smile was close and they couldn’t figure out how to complete the track. They called in Babyface, who is Bruno’s mentor. He added a modulation and helped em put a bow on it

Well I've been binging reactions all night and this pops up, good deeeeal!!
All of the instruments are live. Bruno is on guitars, congas, and some keys. Anderson is on the drums. Other musicians play the other instruments. There's no autotune. They decided to take the old approach when recording this album. Bruno, Anderson, and a guy named D'Mile composed the music while Bruno and D'Mile produced it. The song BLAST OFF can be a metaphor for sex. People seem to associate Bruno with drugs just because he was caught with a bag cocaine back in 2010 (which, if I'm not mistaken, was handed to him by someone else). I don't think Bruno actually snorted any of it then nor does he do it now. It's 2021 and folks are still holding Bruno to a mistake he made and paid for back in 2010. And, after that incident, Bruno actually said that he learned from that mistake, vowing to never do that again. So far, he's kept his promise.

Great review! This album is the best of them both yet seamlessly produced. The duo we didn't know we needed. AOTY. All the instruments are live, Paak is on the drums, Bruno is on the guitar, congas, and other instruments depending on the song. Blast Off I guarantee will grow on you, and will prob be a fave for you. Def think they were talking about being in that purple haze so to speak lol on Blast off. It's a vibey chill song.🔥🔥🔥This album is actually telling a story of love and heartbreak from a man's perspective.

My thoughts exactly for put on a smile, cant relate, but it made me feel some type of way😫😢
Bootsy Collins: James Brown, Parliment Funkadelic, Bootsy’s Rubber Band. Part of his brand, especially with his own band, was his voice, often imitated, (a la George Duke), never duplicated. A lot of the bass work in the Silk Sonic project is reminiscent of Bootsy’s bass style. Brothers, the drummer is APaak. He composed & played the parts. But it looks like Bruno’s brother, Eric plays on live shows, & plays the exact parts that Anderson played on the tracks. Keep in mind, they got goin on this during the pandemic shutdown of 2020, & more than made the most of their time no doubt!
FYI -- Homer Steinweiss played the drums on "Smokin Out The Window." Bruno used Homer on a record off his 24K Magic album (Perm) and a record off his Unorthodox Jukebox album (Locked Out of Heaven). Bruno must like his playing. Homer is a a prominent drummer in the New York soul revival scene and a popular session musician.

Put on a smile is a more complete song. But after last night just hit different. I wished they kept the magic from the first 1.30 throughout the whole song but even how it is. Idk if it really could've been better

Anderson .Paak personifies music. He is a beast on the drums and adds soul and spice to anything he does. I know you are both fans, but how can you not recognize him on drums! Bruno said that the entire album is driven by Anderson’s drumming-that Andy is the kind of drummer who back in the day every band used. While Bruno’s vocals are unrivaled, the soul and vibe of the album in undoubtedly .Paak. And I agree, would love another AP solo project. Anderson is on drums 90% of the album.
I swear people just forgot Childish Gambino did this 5 years ago, it was honestly amazing. It matches up if not surpasses this album. Also, if you genuinely are wondering who else makes music like this checkout Michael Kiwanuka, especially his album 'KIWANUKA' its more soul than funk but it is incredible.
It does not match this album at ALL. Just stop it. You don't HAVE to be a contrarian.
@@phlbnr word! Like, what Gambino did was dope, I really enjoyed it. And it's definitely drawing from the same inspiration Silk Sonic used on this album. But to put Gambino's work in the same category as this Silk effort makes no sense. Bruno and Andy did some outlandish shit right here. Gambino pushed the barriers, trying to put his new take on an old sound. He harkened back to a time, I'll say. But he didn't straight put you there like these boys did. These cats are out of their minds for this album!!
