It's important that two high profile artist in this current time period came together like they did. I promise you, if not for the pandemic we would not be hearing this project right now. This is just confirmation that the legends that inspire this music were right. We have drifted away from the essence of where the connection between artist and listener through pure musicianship happens. It really never left, but if left up to the gatekeepers of the industry you would have to dig deep for it. NOW, with Silk Sonic you can't ignore how it makes people feel. And we're thirsty....
While I agree the pandemic probably sped up the process, both have said they started working on Smoking Out The Window close to 5 years ago when Paak was opening for Bruno. They were clear back then they had something worth pursuing. By the time they released Leave The Door Open the album was pretty much finished. I think the entire project is more the result of two artist committed to their craft, their love of this genre, and their individual & collective humbleness.
@@colettewalker381 Indeed they connected years ago on tour together, I gathered from early interviews they did together that what solidified the decision to make this more than just a couple of song collabs that would have happened at some point was time away from being on the road. No choice but to stop and find that they REALLY had something special together that flowed out of them when in the studio. And the Bootsy connection sealed it with giving them a name.
@@colettewalker381 true, but because there was a lockdown and their shows were canceled, they had time to finish Smokin Out the Window and then work on the rest. So his initial comment was correct. We only got the finished product now, because they had time to work on it and complete it.
My favorite song. Had such a psychedelic vibe to it. Listened while on a plane in the clouds. Literally on a natural high.

Hearing this entire album elicited memories of my own life while growing up in the 60s/70s. The family gatherings, summers in the park, block parties, all framed by good food, good company and fantastic music. Bruno and Anderson went back in time and captured those moments and memories with this project. Damn, I miss those years!

I will admit...I CRIED!😢😭 'Blast Off' 🚀 became my instant favorite from the album..It's something euphoric and angelic about it. 'Put On A Smile' had me in tears as well first listen. This whole album gave me chills. Very close to 'Thriller' caliber far as body of work. Each tracks are quality hits..I can play this album for my Grandmother and she won't get offended. Yep, I’m a Nana who has always has & had a Special place in my heart 🫀for MUSIC 🎶 I watched my only Grandson graduate with a Degree in Music Performance, Fine Arts Division. I always had variety of music going on and he was singing Jingles from Commercials at 2 years old when we were out running errands in the car. I am so proud when he comes in to play his latest Beats 🎧 This song takes me back to San Francisco and “Tripping” in “The Haight-Ashbury” with some friends who were all about our feelings “Can We Take It Higher” that phrase makes reminds me of feelings I haven’t tapped into for years😎

On my road trip I expect my car to grow wings and turn into a magical unicorn and fly off into the stars ✨🦄 Speechless, dance. 😭 Live the audience is gunna be levitating above the ground, with excitement alone. This is only their first album, surly there's more in the the secret box of ideas. Bruno thinks he's slow putting out music, but my God when he does it. When they won Best R&B group at BET, ( Leave the Door Open) he thanked the fans and promised the Album would be worth the wait. How could we have imagined anything like this...perfection.

This song made it possible for me to cope with losing my 34 year old daughter to an overdose on zDec 3rd 2021 It’s strange but it gave me peace that she found peace at last. She kissed the moon. I was feeling EVERYTHING you was feeling! I just couldn't help myself, got completely caught up into my feelings and was literally crying of complete joy. Listening to this song, it feels like flying high up in the sky on some ethereal journey to a far away magic land. Really does have that EW&F vibe written all over it. It's been a long time since i felt like this about the music I've been listening to over the years. I LOVE the whole album, and yeah, this is EXACTLY how you should end it. Oh btw ever since the first night of hearing this, I get EWF feels all thru my body. sigh.... I was a couple years behind Phillip Bailey in high school and when he became part of EWF it was quite the thrill to know he was a homeboy of sorts.
