'Put On A Smile' is my favorite song on the album. Anderson sounded like Bobby Womack. When Bruno hit that note, I burst into tears. This album showed a true reverence for the 70's style of music. It's an instant classic.

Okay Toney, this is the best opportunity for me to tell you this but I just love you, your love and passion and appreciation for Bruno Mars and Silk Sonic considering you are primarily a rap fan! Ain't this enough proof that this dude Bruno is just out of the world!! And combining this with the god gifted Anderson, you get this magic!! Now coming to SILK SONIC baby!! Honestly, I had no idea who Anderson. Paak was until Silk Sonic and I can't thank Bruno enough for introducing me to him and his work, I mean, Anderson is just amazing! And the album they have put up, "An Evening With Silk Sonic" is the perfect album I've ever heard even considering Thriller! An album of just nine tracks lasting for 30 minutes or so and being one of the best albums ever is unbelievable! This match is one that was made in heaven with the chemistry they both show both in and outside the studio!
When you said you were going to react to every single track in this, man, I was so happy to hear that and the four that have been out already, especially this one, you are just spitting out facts brother!! Every word you said, I was like hell yes! And that was Anderson behind the drums in this one!! That and the notes Bruno hit in this! Woooooh! Ive listened to the entire album multiple times, and havent heard an album sound this good in its entirety, probably 30 years. Im ranking each song as follows: Skate & 777 (8s); Fly As Me, Blast Off, After Last Nite (9s); Leave the Door Open, Smoking Out The Window (10s); Put On A Smile (10+) … I hope they are planning a concert - I told my son, we going and he’s buying tickets for my birthday. Im 60 and my son is 27 - Ironically, the last concert I attended was Grover Washington Jr and pregnant with my son. If they decide to hit the road, it will be EPIC - old & young jamming to their music !!!!!!!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍

For me this song is number 1 on the album. I knew this one was going to hit you hard and I wasn't mistaken! I had quit listening to secular music for 15 years or more. I only listened to gospel. In 2019 I was watching "The Four" and "The Masked Singer" and came to RUclips to hear the original songs and that's when I discovered Bruno Mars. Bruno Mars brought me back to listening to secular music. I discovered others since then, but Bruno is my number one artist. Of course I love everything about Silk Sonic.

The sad story behind the young man (Rodger Penzabene) who wrote I Wish It Would Rain sung by The Temptations is that his wife was cheating on him and he was in tremendous pain about it. He wrote some incredible songs in addition to that one including You're My Everything and I Could Never Love Another (After Loving You), and songs for Gladys Knight and the Pips. He committed suicide in 1967 at the age of 22. So, there is real pain in his songs.
