- This is a rundown of every hit song present on the MuchMusic Countdown in 2009. Let's bring some Canadiana to nostalgia playlists! These have been my pet projects for a while because I'm a bit obsessed with old-school MuchMusic/can-con in general.
In 2009, it seems Much was refocused on a tween audience, so Bieber, Disney stars (the JoBros even hosted the MMVAs) and very pop pop-punk abounds. A certain Degrassi-turned-rap star from the 6ix you’ve probably never heard of makes his debut, along with Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift and Jason Derulo. Lady Gaga is the biggest star in the world and lights up the MMVAs with her fireworks bra. Rock is declining in popularity, save for the indie scene. Rap is also poppier than ever. It's one last hurrah for the chaotic fun of the 2000s.
Presented for archival and reporting purposes under fair dealing/fair use. I am not associated with Much, Bell Media or any record label/media company.
Correction: "Forever" by Drake, Kanye West, Lil Wayne and Eminem stayed on the chart until Jan 7, 2010.

Sorry for the delay on this one, my real life is going through some changes and getting busier. Future videos may take longer to come out, but I still intend to finish this series out to the last year of the Much countdown, 2017.
Appreciate it!
Appreciate the work. No rush either. I’m now around like 5% for songs I recognize.
You are doing excellent work, these videos are very nostalgic!! Take your time!
Can't wait for the 2010-17
Much Countdown videos
@@JojoOjofeitimi they’re coming, I promise! I just started a new job and am working on a family project, but I promise they’ll get done eventually.
Thanks for making me feel 13-14 years old again
And thank YOU for making me feel 50 years old. lol
I'm a sometimes cranky "old" man in my late 90s who thought the countdowns peaked a while back (still watching and enjoying though)... however... pleasantly suprised at this being a very strong year in pop music!
In 2009, Johnny Test scored its highest-charting entry on the Favorite Canada Episodes list with "The Good, The Bad & the Johnny", which peaked at #2 in April of 2009.
Thanks for making me feel like I’m 8 again. :)
WHAT A TRIP !!!
Thank you for these
It's crazy that Tonight by the Jonas Brothers charted for so long, but it's views on RUclips/Spotify never really got that high (compared to their other songs that came out around that time). I always thought it was one of their stronger songs.
I have a question. What Would you think the 2018-2023 countdowns would look like??
RIP Much Music Latin America

Ugh, I heard about this recently. Sorry to hear that. If it's any consolation, Much exists in name only in Canada now, the channel is just used for Simpsons reruns pretty much, no music.
Are any of those videos will become playlists on Spotify?
