- This is a rundown of every hit song present on the MuchMusic Countdown in 2015. Let's bring some Canadiana to nostalgia playlists! These have been my pet projects for a while because I'm a bit obsessed with old-school MuchMusic/can-con in general.
This is the year that Canadian artists began to dominate the pop charts worldwide, with lots of Drake, The Weeknd, Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes. Trap and lyrical hip hop are on the rise. We see the influence of Tumblr (hipster girls!) and Vine (meme songs!) on the charts. At this point Much had stopped all original production and no longer had a daily live show or VJs, so they weren't really targeting tweens anymore. So we do get a slightly wider variety of artists here. I'll be honest though, these last couple of years are a bit of a slog for me to get through lol.

2015 was the year of Star vs. The Forces of Evil! That's right: this Disney XD original show made audiences laugh thanks to its #1 global smash hit episode, "Party with a Pony".
