- This is a rundown of every hit song present on the MuchMusic Countdown in 2000. Let's bring some Canadiana to nostalgia playlists! These have been my pet projects for a while because I'm a bit obsessed with old-school MuchMusic/can-con in general.
I found 2006 to be a bit unmemorable overall, but with some major high points. Emo was firmly a part of the pop culture, with My Chemical Romance, Panic! at the Disco and Fall Out Boy all huge. Timbaland made Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake the biggest pop stars of the year. We continue to see Canadian (and British) indie rise, female pop divas make a comeback, Blink-182 spin offs, some new faces in R&B, and oh, Paris Hilton put out a single.
The video for "Shelter" by Bedouin Soundclash could not be found and is missing here.

2006 is the year we saw Mr. Krabs turn the Krusty Krab into a hotel, Drake and Josh pull an alien invasion prank on their sister, and many more. Oh, and three words: THE WONDER PETS!. And 2006 was also the year French RUclipsr Gregory Ferrandis's favorite My Gym Partner's a Monkey episode, "Kerry to Dance?", premiered. Gregory Ferrandis can thank "Kerry to Dance?" for its premise and writing, and for making him roll on the floor laughing when Adam and Jake fight at the end of the episode.
I went through about 20 years of these, and thank you for the trip down memory lane... 👍✌️

Interesting list!
This was my first full year out of university, and in the early months of this list I was surprised at how many songs I didn't know. It sort of broke down like this for me:
First part of the year: surprisingly unfamiliar
Second part of the year: a lot of songs I know and associate with that time period
Third part of the year: a lot of songs I know but don't really associate with the time period.

@@Bored-Music They do! When you uploaded 2002, I had a really busy work week, so one of my friends actually posted it on my wall saying- "I know you're busy right now so I have you covered!"

Started 5th grade that year. Used to hear most of these songs on the bus not knowing school buses had radios lmao.

2006 was a good year but that Billy Talent song devil in a midnight mass drives me nuts mostly the part where he screams sounding like he's throwing a temper tantrum but the other songs like three days grace animal i have become is amazing
I hate that that Billy Talent never made it big in the US. I mean, if Three Days Grace can, why not BT?
@@mesousagaby740 I know! Maybe their sound was just too heavy for mainstream US success? I’ve always found it funny that they are MASSIVE in Germany though.

My countdowns only cover the Canadian MuchMusic, I know there was a Latin American channel too and they definitely had totally different countdowns! Sorry to hear they closed down this year :(
