    For those who are not familiar with Montreal, the development is being built next to the interchange between the main east-west and north-south highways that cross the city. The problem is that the main north-south highway does not cross the east west highway directly, there is a bit of a jog along the east-west highway (2.7 km or 1.7 miles) connecting the northern and southern branches of the main north-south highway. That short jog and the two interchanges at each end of it are always congested. This development will make traffic much worse in that area where it's already very bad. The only good thing about the site is that it's connected to a metro station that is presently one of the least busy.

    As a montrealer, many of us perceive this project with positivity. Shopping inside in Montreal is useful and in some season, better than shopping in the street. For example, and the winter in Montreal is brutal, the most brutal in north America, that make us difficult to find a way to go out in january and febuary. So I dont see no reason to be mad about that projet. We see that as a + for our city and something . Sometimes I find that our city is old and the malls are very out to date and sometimes, that city is boring, especially for us people that living in RDP, so this modern mall will be a nice add for our city

    • @123benny4
      @123benny4 Месяц назад +1

      Exactly. No one really gets that. Self-sustainability means you work with what you already have, maintain what you already have, and keep nature in mind. We need to be able to sustain ourselves, and not rely on our needs being met from outside sources. This whole area should have gone back to nature and made into an urban forest. There are so many things we need in this city and this project isn't one of them.

People who own property across the street will have a price boom in already expensive Montreal. Still, the highway that connects is already congested beyond belief. Montréal me dégoûte. Voilà se que j'en pense

    This along with Mayor Plante's agenda will seal the fate of downtown Montreal.
    Traffic on the Decarie expressway had a design capacity of 100,000 when it was built and now it is at 350,000. push that up to 420,000 and there will be a lot of frustrated commuters.
    The interchange with the 40 was rebuilt a few years ago and may have to undergo expensive modification to ease a bottleneck that could extend 5 kms in all directions.

I mean we really can not have street people walking into Gucci . CAN WE !
