I found the breather was needed for the scavenger pump to work properly. otherwise you would create a vacuum against the restricted chra oil feed and lose efficiency of the pump. You need to vent the oil sump so there's air to displace oil when scavenging. I run mine up to engine bay into a catch can.
Hi Griff , I’ve fitted a rear mount turbo to my car and had all the issues you mentioned at 1 min 30 . I made a sump like yours with breathers . Instantly stopped all the issues. Thank you for you advice . Superb!
Nice. When I had the low mount turbo on my V8 Scout, I had the same problems without a breather. Blue smoke on start-up after it was sitting a while. I ended up running a breather from the turbo 'sump' into an oil/air separator (catch can) and vented the catch can back into the turbo inlet. That totally fixed it also.
Hi Bud I’m building a Twin Rear Mount on my XY and was wondering what Oil Scavenger Pump off eBay are u running? and have u found having the Reservoir helps a lot...?
Rearmounts run so cool, compared to a front mount, the cover helps hold some of the heat.... A Good sign if a turbo is getting to hot, there will be coking of oil in the centre..
A remote res. would solve the issues... a closed loop system will always fail and leak... a remote res. with a overflow or breather will always vent pressure. a self contained remote closed loop system will always build pressure.
Hello Griff, i messaged you before. I wanted you to see a pic of my stand alone oil system for my twin turbo. I would like to send you a couple of pics but not sure where to send them.
Should have put a one check valve on the breathe tube so you don’t suck road contaminants and/or dirty oil particles from sponge. Any particles going back to oilpan can clutch the pickup tube or damage the bearings.
Just goes to show how much pressure they can build up inside the CHRA..ruclips.net/video/-lvFMTRMwc4/видео.html

Nice one Mike, smart cookie you are👍
Would you think draining the turbo into a small rear mounted catch can venting to atmosphere, being emptied by a scavange pump would work?
That's a nice clean set up, but I'd sleep better if those were AN Fittings with high pressure steel braided lines. But this is still very good.
Please can you tell me how you made the set up I’m still having oil in the charge pipe
Awesome video brotha! Do you have a full diagram of your of your rear mount oiling system?
No i dont.. but i can draw it up on my white board.... stay tuned brotha👍
@@griffsrearmountturbothemod1623 Thanks brotha!!!. That would be awesome!!!!
Another handy tech tip Griff! awesome!
Good on you Blair.. 👍

did you ever finish this?
I made one a few years ago and never had a problem
Info on scavenge pump?
Didn't notice any water cooling? Thought the turbo would over heat with the exhaust cover on it

Thanks for the tip
Good advice thank you
Could you help with some more in-depth info and pics on how you set this up buddy I’m getting a ton of blow by..
Blo by out of engine or turbo?
GRIFFS REARMOUNT TURBO, The Modfather turbo I have a restrictor and check valve

I'm confused, what are you suggesting? That the oil for the turbo and the engine are separate?

Try my instagram... turbogriff4 love too see it
