350Z Twin Turbo (14) - Getting Oil To The Turbos... And Back

- Setting up the oil system for the turbos took quite a bit of time and got kind of weird in places due to space constraints (as always). This was filmed this at various points over the last two months. Link to the scavenge pump I'm using can be found below, although I can't say how well it works yet until we actually fire the car up (their customer service has been good so far though when I emailed them asking a few questions about it).

The amount of fab work you've done is incredible. Don't knock your work because if it's "stupid" but it works it's not stupid.
I’m a little lost, I’m building something similar with an electric pump to prime my phaser gear before start bcs with cams and springs, not even a new phaser can hold the load and it’s not staying locked in retard . BUUUUT if it’s easier to prime the motor than to fabricate the cam gear plate with a fitting I’ll do that but my question is..... are they pulling oil from one of the outlets on the sandwich plate? Can you or someone please reiterate where your going to pull oil from and where your sending it? There’s no stupid questions man lol I’ve invented the most remarkable things in my time.
It's so nice to watch someone who actually knows what the hell they're talking about with AN fittings and hose, thank you Chris.
I wouldn't go that far haha but thanks
Hi Chris. This is one very extensive build and I know you're glad to be coming down the homestretch. The frustration with wiring those connectors is very real (and relatable). That sounds exactly the way my wiring jobs go.😩😠 I've discovered my cussing is stronger than my soldering joints.😜 I also laughed at 15:14 . 😅 Magic and more magic. I was wondering when you actually found time to sleep, but maybe you have a magic trick for that as well.😉 Hang in there, brother. We're all pulling for ya. See you on the next installment. Cheers!
haha cussing strong than joints, I can definitely relate to that. Cheers!
"And we just take this wrench and scratch the fuck out of the fitting, as usual..." lol at least we're all on the same page.
Can't wait to see this beast drift!
Just a suggestion, but a warning buzzer is a good addition to any warning light because in the heat of battle it's easy to not notice a little light.
I've just added an additional oil pressure sensor to my engine with a single remote t-piece and i've been obsessively checking it for leaks all weekend. I can't imagine what you're going to be feeling like the first time you crank this engine with all these connections. Keep it up, great build.
We (I) surly don't mind scratched anodized connectors or less than perfect welds or execution. What's really important is that YOU ARE MAKING IT HAPPEN! KICKING ASS AND GETTING ER' DONE 😁
Good Job 👍😎
I might be buying a 350z tomorrow and all though i love this series I dont think I could ever be patient enough to do all this man.
sometimes I do reget starting it haha but hope you enjoy yours if you get one
I love mine. Just don't get to drive it enough.
Instead of offset sumps. Why not use 1/2 inch id tube going through the sump for allen head bolts to bolt the flange sump assembly up.
Would look cleaner, sit higher and be a conversation piece.
To avoid scratching your fittings just cut a small piece of cloth and glue it to your wrench. Keep up the great work bro 🤙
Great video - I have to add a scavenge pump to my 370z TT .. not the same car but close enough... gives me ideas :)
Seems like twin turbos is a sound way to spend your life savings on AN fittings... Whole build is gonna be mad though and the knowledge you've done the whole thing yourself must be mad, good luck with BDC.
yeah that is one cost I was really not expecting. I budgeted for turbos, intercooler, oil scavenge pump, etc etc... but I did not budget several hundred pounds for AN lines and fittings!
One thing that sucks about stainless braided lines trying to put these fittings on… you will poke yourself 1000x lol
Sorry for the car setting fire, but I admire your commitment to finish your project
How is that pressure switch working out? Im thinking of doing one as well! Any help or detail would be amazing
Good Morning GZreat videos man, where did you get that check valve ?
Tavarish would be proud
Don't think there is any pressure on the outlet just flow. Is that particular pump still working?
where did you get the T fitting and what are the specs? What are the specs for all the fittings?
What are you doing for your oil feed?
Found it. How’s that scavenging pump working out for you? I’m putting together a twin turbo setup for my v6 Honda and the turbos sit really low. I don’t wanna drop $2,000 on each oil less turbo 😅
Fucking magic build
Could I get you to send me everything you bought to do the feed line to the turbo
Could have made the sumos with pipe welded through it to create access through the sump for the Allen screws.
did you get that idea from the project binky episode that came out yesterday? lol
@@ChrisDrift have done it before, but that episode did remind me of it. Please tell me that you aren't reworking everything again like they do. Lol
@@ChrisDrift Engage smug mode :D
what material did you make the turbo drain box out of?
Stainless steel
So you'll be drifting without AC? That sounds like it'd be horrible.
Is there a reason the fittings are these colours or is it just for looks?
the car can't have AC anyway due to the rules of the BDC competition (I assume they just don't want any extra potential fire hazards), so I took the AC compressor out a while ago
@@ChrisDrift That makes sense. I then look forward to seeing footage with you sweating your arse off. 😁
Also I can't wait for the first fire up.
where did you learn to tig weld chris?
just watching youtube videos
@@ChrisDrift fair play! you've really progressed! builds looking amazing!
You very negative on yourself I've only just started watching your stuff (iam doing same sort of stuff to my daily) when you blow out all the fire extinguisher powder out of engine bay with air line (if you do) please bare in mind if that stuff gets on your lungs and chest it's foul please wear a mask keep up the good work stay positive
Thanks and yeah I started wearing a mask pretty quickly
@@ChrisDrift I feel your pain it gets very tiresome quickly & the late nights build up the amount of times I've woken up inside a car iam rebuilding at 3-4am shivering I've lost count myself but think when you getting on too the 4-5 engine swap on your daily it's a signs it's become a addiction lol
Any cats?
Nope
Looks so complicated, I’d of given up after 2 minutes.
I've been tempted lol
ChrisDrift should of let the car burn down. You had your chance!
