Pleaaaaasse watch Stuart's video on the product page first before you start trying this yourself!! you need to 1) seal porous stuff with pva glue first, 2) use a really really soft brush, 3) use as little on the bristles as possible, and most importantly 4) ALWAYS BRUSH IT IN ONE DIRECTION. When you talked about the different materials, you created two groups, the ones that did create a complete reflection (maybe kinda wonky) and the ones that just "shine". That's because there are types of reflections, specular and diffuse are the 2 more basics. To work as a mirror, you need a polished, flat, smooth area where the light hits and reflects at the same angle.
