ABOUT IRON MAIDEN:
Iron Maiden are an institution. Over the course of six decades they have come to embody a spirit of fearless creative independence, ferocious dedication to their fans, and a cheerful indifference to their critics that’s won them a following that spans every culture, generation, and time-zone. A story of gritty determination and courageous defiance of the naysayers, theirs has been an adventure like no other.
The band’s immense discography includes the studio albums ‘The Number Of The Beast’, ‘Piece Of Mind’, ‘Powerslave, ‘Somewhere In Time’, ‘Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son’, ‘Fear Of The Dark’, ‘The Final Frontier’ and ‘The Book Of Souls’ which have spawned many classic hits as ‘The Trooper’, ‘Wasted Years’, ‘Hallowed Be Thy Name’, ‘Wasting Love’, ‘Run To The Hills’, ‘Aces High’, ‘Rime Of The Ancient Mariner’ and ‘2 Minutes to Midnight’.

IRON MAIDEN, Live After Death is one of the greatest live music films of all time!
I was 17 years old when I saw the Powerslave show and it is still the best concert I have ever seen. The kids have no idea how special this was.
I was about 17 as well,Met center MN powerslave album start to finish, ride up on a party bus from Rochester Minnesota to the Met Center which is demolished now(grehound) with 30 30packs of strous beer on ice all my HS friends ! If I coukd go back or get "Caught Somewhere in Time.. this is definitely one of my top stops !
Slick. Hi Daffny!
Saw them on this tour too in Illinois, Number of the beast was released nearly 40 years ago now. Holy sh- we are getting old.
Just sixteen ... a pickup truck..out of money ! out of luck.. I got nowhere to call my own.. hit the gas and I here I go!!!
100% 🔥
I’m 15 lol
This ain't no ordinary bass guitar performance, this is something different, this is a divine thing!
the best version of this song for bass. he really kicks it up a notch with his fills
It's called, lacker band twaning.
😂o😂Ct
Its another fucking level
Sent from heaven, or hell?
Who cares 😂
This is truly rock opera. Dramatic, theatrical, beautiful. And it's so metal; I'm completely here for it.
Man the set work on this tour is just insane. London's west end on the road.
Dude, does this have something to do with Pharaoh or something?
@@josielleelle4957 Yes. Royalty as God facing the inevitable outcome of every human life.
@@Jaake-my2rq Wow bro, I needed you to answer me first, the teacher had played this song
Dave Murray’s best solo. The single best guitar solo I’ve ever heard! (a few thousand times)
Try the version in trieste
Check the solo in 'The Sleep' by Pantera, you'll enjoy it
@@serroche sorry, but as for me, PANTERA's solo is much weaker. It is just fingers-stirring.. The keynote is missing
Most consistent player there is
@@happylena2915 wut....i mean there do exist solos like you said, but the one from The Sleep isn't "just" anything. Dime's solos in that, Floods, and Cemetary Gates are all dynamic and energetic and epic. That said, I also LOVE the solo in this song. The 2 bands are so different that it's dumb to compare them at all tbh
The whole middle, melodic section of the song, along with the three alternating solos, is one of THE finest pieces of music I have ever heard. Gives me chills all over! SO beautiful, so powerful. I can listen to Murray play for days and days without tiring of it.
Totally agree.
Right fucken on brother!
Metal God's creation.
Its one of Murray's finest solos along with Hallowed be thy name. Murray was well capable of doing these melodic solos but tended to get the faster ones due to his sheer speed. He was by far faster than Smith and even Harris himself admitted faster than himself on bass. He has suffered in the past decade but it happens to all fast guitarists as they get older including the great Knofler...it really pisses me off when people dismiss him as a second rate guitarist and think they can do this stuff quite easily. Murray was the reason I took up guitar in the first place and why I've always loved the strat.
Powerslave as a album showcases what is probably Iron Maiden's most blood and fast heart-thumping music and creativity of the band. I feel this album has the best chemistry between the members together. I actually have a love more for Somewhere in time and Seventh Son. In the 80s, if you loved hard rock or metal and weren't an Iron Maiden before Powerslave, you most likely became one with Powerslave and Live before Death. Which is a grossly underrated live album. The length of touring they had to support this album makes me astounded that they haven't had more music related ailments as a result. I wouldn't doubt if they all have carpal tunnel and arthritis. It definitely affected Bruce's singing range eventually.
I'm a slave to the power of Maiden. 🤘🏻☠️🤘🏻
Live After Death... Best live album ever. Period. Best live concert video ever. Period.
+Hesperus I totally agree!
amen to that.
I'd cut off a leg to go back and be there.
Unfortunately, the best song version was at hammersmith, "phantom of the opera". the best ever guitaring.
watch?v=AI6OFf8QjZU
Yep- This album is for me like a bible for believers.
AMEN BROTHER !!! :)
My daughter recognised it from the womb.
yep.
Thanks, Steve's mom. You put in the world the greatest music legend ever born.
He was actually born from a dying star with a bass in hand
No doubt at all
Eddie in his prime.
And let's face it, Powerslave is one of the most progressive metal albums of all time.
After almost 40 years of listening to this one, i never get tired. Man these guys give you the best in heavy metal!
Honestly, the riff of Powerslave alone is one of the most satisfying pieces of sound to ever grace my ears. It completely gives off the vibes of power and might
It's the best riff i've ever heard. I never get tired of it, it's extremely addictive
Steve: im wearing my trademark vertical stripes pants tonight.
Adrian: me, my usual vest.
Nicko: tightest spandex top and pants.
Dave: shiny blue pants.
Bruce: a feathered mask and pulling my gym socks up to my knees.
hahahaha I could imagine them having this conversation before the show
Tour Manager: "I want every masonic emblem you got out on that stage right now!"
Adrian :..... Don't forget the red scarf for my left knee!!!!
Gym socks up to the knees are cool as shit!
This is hilarious 😂
Iron Maiden should b included in every schools world history curriculum
Nice! 😂
Eddie hits the stage....Goosebumps. Every. Damn. Time.
Best metal front man ever. Without question.
This was almost 40 years ago. This is from Live After Death the first Maiden album I ever heard and I was hooked on metal and especially Maiden. This was when I was in the 6th grade and that was about 38 years ago this song and Maiden are timeless. Want to see them live again been too long.
Same here the live after death was my first metal album and it totally blew me away
The Best live show/Album EVER!!!!!\M/
Proud to say I was there. Friday night, the second of four shows at Long Beach Arena 1985.
1985*
@@emankcin1701 Really? Thanks for the heads-up!
Lucky one...
Seen em’ in 1980. Opened for Alice cooper
I was there Saturday the 3rd night, "scream for me long beach" nothing today even comes close to this era of music!! Long live heavy metal
Of all the bass players I've seen that pick with their fingers, no ones fingers are all over the place like Steve Harris. It's like watching a spider doing wind sprints.
+Tom Flake Cliff Burton....
+lolcatfrisky Steve........ but did he die?
+Tango Foxtrot I sure hope not. Why would you say that anyway?
+Tom Flake _no ones fingers are all over the place like Steve Harris_
Hehehehehhee
Steve Harris VS Cliff Burton
Dear god....
Listening 2024, still amazing ❤
Bruce is absolutely slaying this, power, perfect pitch... Decades before in ear monitors...what a voice.
Fun fact, in ear monitors were invented by one of the techs working for Pink Floyd on The Wall tour to help the band hear each other over the large stages they would play as they were constantly standing in different areas. Only a couple of years before this concert.
I never thought about the ear monitor aspect. Goooood point
Nicko is the only from Maiden he dont use ear Monitors
So true. That voice 😘😘😘
Bought the double-vinyl Live After Death just after it came out;
to this day whenever I see any reference to Long Beach I always hear
"SCREAM FOR ME LONG BEACH!!"
in my head. 😆
I listem them for 40 years,Iron Maiden forever&ever!
You can tell the guy playing Eddie is having the time of his life lol
i wonder if they need someone for there next tour ill dress as all the eddies
@Batphink Reynolds lucky
@Batphink Reynolds How did they have the outfit built? If you were on stilts, you have excellent balance, man!
Batphink Reynolds oww you are so lucky
Bruce's look of disapproval at 4:25 tho xD
F**k yes. Too damn lucky to have grown up when these guys were in their hey day. It changes the way you remember and felt about those times.
MADE IN IRON 2024 I WAS THERE! IT BRING ME BACK IN 1984, EVEN THOUGH IM BORNED IN 2006!!
Fuck I love this song. Dave's solo is insanely beautiful here.
No matter what Dave plays, he gives me the fucking chills
Agreed, he just has a wonderful style. He really is a master of improvisation. When Kirk Hammett plays an improvised solo, it just sounds messy. Dave, even through all these years, has kept up his musical chops really well and manages to pull off a very melodic solo at almost every moment.
the magic of Dave comes from the fact he and Steve were there since 1976 and even then played together like it had been for years. Truly a special connection that's never withered
Exactly :) and both playing from the soul as if they were born for it :)
It's the best solo of all time. ^_^
I first heard this when I was 11 years old. I'm 42 now. I think Murray's second solo is one of the finest moments in guitar music. Timing. Color. Emotion. Build. Feel. It's apposition and opposition to the rest of the music. It makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Those few seconds are for me the purest essence of Iron Maiden.
Totally agree, that last solo is absolute perfection imo 👌
Brilliant , alas the first few seconds of Adrian Smith's lead break after the slow section are even better.
Well well well well said!
Iron Maiden and goosebumps.
Oh yes indeed!
Adrian solo is a lot more vividly phrased. He makes the song sound perfect.
@Sebastian Slick i just dont understand how people dont get how good adrian is and how much of a better guitarist/songwriter he is than dave and even that hack janick. I like what murray plays on this song but adrians lead break is awesome and thank you for recognizing that
Dave's first solo is my favorite solo ever. This song is amazing
Steve's energy is contagious
Gods of Metal
@@ingwald_johann664 IRON >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Manowar.
MAIDENNN!!!!
@Lord Belial If it's not metal then what is it? Pop? Country? Even if you don't like their newer material, it doesn't mean they aren't metal. They haven't changed their style, it's basically the same.
This solo is probably the most beautiful thing i've ever heard in my life :3 Dave Murray
Its Maiden. they are better live than in studio. I have seen them 11 times and they are always perfect. This tune on this tour was unforgettable
And Murray made it look easy..
Powerslave is Maiden's best album!
"Tell me why i had to be a powerslave..." Bruce rocked this song, the best of Iron.
One of the best metal concerts of all time!!!!Up the Irons!!!!!
To this day I have not seen a show that equaled this one. Dec 1984, Portland OR. I was 17.
Many bands have tried, but NO ONE will never come close to the metal ICONS.....Iron Maiden rise the song to the heights of magic, pure magic......this masterpiece is art.....
I agree 🤟
Masters,simply...
This is eternal!
Fantastic song ❤
Not a song, it' s a lil masterpiece 💜
That fucking solo is pure magic
So powerful. So majestic.
Live After Death was the door through I discovered heavy metal when I was 11 years old.
I belt this song out like I'm a dying pharaoh. This song is raw power.
A rock opera of great quality, unrivaled musicality, timeless themes and the magic that only this great artistic synergy called Iron Maiden can provide. Eternal for fans and connoisseurs of heavy metal, in their maximum form. Love this forever ❤️
Powerslave is not a rock opera
Everything about the solo is perfection. Such a stunning album after all these years.
Timeless, beautiful music. I’ll still be listening to this at the old folks home 🤘😎🎧
Probably my favourite live video / audio of all time.
I'm into doom speed thrash death black .. but Live after Death is the pinnacle of metal.
EPIC... I was in FRONT ROW with 16 back then !
" Live after Death " Worlds Slavery Tour 84' and 85' !!! 190 Shows in 331 days .....legend, Fantastic, on the Best live Album of the History .....Up The IRONS !!!
I wish that I can see them live but I can’t because I’m 14. If I can’t see them live I will still be a die hard fan and supporter
Maybe the greatest final ever for a heavy metal song, that epic atmosphere in the end...
The Magnus Opus of Iron Maiden... And my fav one...
I had this on VHS as a young teen and wore it out. 80's Maiden is still the best in my opinion
Epic, epic performance! Dave's solo....eargasm! :o
The three guitar solos in this song are just magnificent.
and a face melting bass line... this band is something else...
Yes the guitar solo is great in this performance but you have to remember it was 1984 at the Long Beach Arena it was Adrian Smith and Dave Murray not the other guitarist he was not a part of Iron Maiden back in 1984 just saying
@@andrerone8208 Yes I know. I saw Iron Maiden on that tour and I bought the Live After Death album when it was first released.
2020 and still Eddies best performance. He's a well oiled machine in this one
IRON MAIDEN - the rest is HISTORY..........RESPECT
Awesome soloing by Murray and Smith as always. Their combination of style I think rank them to be amongst the greatest twin lead players.
I saw iron maiden at the Seattle coliseum back in 1986 I believe it was and it was the power slave album tour and to this very day it was the best friggin concert and band I have ever seen in my entire life and inspired me to become a guitarist !!! Dave Murray and Adrian Smith are two of the best guitarist in the world ever and iron maiden is so underrated as a band it's not even funny !!!
Love Bruce's mask
At the age of 11 I got this concert on a VHS tape, the tape still exists, the band still exists and the same enjoyment of listening does too. Great memories Maiden has given me, memories that go on and on and on...
This song is a masterpiece of heavy metal I love it forever
My dad was in this concert😎🤘and I watch his experience on vhs around 2006, but the 80s gave him the best live
More beast why go in daylight cam quality

It's crazy when you think that this all started off as Steve and a bunch of guys in a pub in Stratford, who didn't see beyond playing pubs around the UK. What an amazing turn it took. Up the Irons!!
