    It's a no brainer for me. I sold my X-T30 to buy the X-S10 and I haven't looked back. Yes, I do love the retro look of the T30 (I have the X-T3 and the X100V) but the X-S10 has the ISO button which you can also change say your auto 1, 2 and 3 settings on the fly. The top right wheel is the EV so not really losing anything that I thought at fiirst I would need to dive into the menus for - and not forgetting the IBIS. The X-S 10 is a great choice in my opinion

  • @CharlezRichard

    There are a few missed points that are crucial when comparing these two cameras. I have used both extensively for video. IBIS is the only thing better on the X-S10 when it works. NOTICE that I say when it works. Many times your IBIS on the X-S10 will give you a wobbly effect. Now something that NO ONE has mentioned is that the X-S10 supports UHD type 1 cards only while the X-T30ii supports UHD type 2 cards. Furthermore, when using a gimbal, the articulating screen on the X-S10 is unusable. It gets in the way of filming and balancing the camera properly on the gimbal. Hope this helps. Cheers 🍻.

      Quick question. I am split between either of these as a BACK UP to my XT4. I do not really think a time will come when the XT4 will die on me at a wedding or whatever, but in that instance I will need a second camera and I think a second XT4 is overkill (I'm sure I can wing the rest of the days event with either of these two cameras).
      I am PURELY interested in Stills (I don't do video at a wedding), and I find IBIS a little surplus to requirement as I am quite often shooting 1/320 or more throughout the days event. I don't really need a complete duplication of feature set of what the XT4 has (if I did I'd just buy a second one). What matters more to me is BUFFER. Correct me if I am wrong but in theory the XT30II at 5fps should kick the X-S10's butt for buffer? I may even wish to shoot RAW+Jpg (as I quite often work from the Jpgs) but I am imagining that will really thrash the buffer so I'll just have to shoot RAW only and use X Raw Studio after the fact and generate the Jpgs from the RAWs.
      But yeh, I'm actually thinking the cheaper, smaller XT30II cameras is the better STILLS backup for the XT4 (for things like weddings and events where IBIS is actually not as critical as one might think when using small primes). Am I looking at things wrong?

    • @CharlezRichard
      @CharlezRichard 2 года назад +5

      @@SummersSnaps If this is your workflow, let me recommend even a better camera than the X-T30ii or the X-S10. The X-T3. The prices now are ridiculously low., under $1000. That really is more compatible with the X-T4. But yes 100% definitely the X-T30ii is way better than the X-S10.

    • @SummersSnaps
      @SummersSnaps 2 года назад

      @@CharlezRichard That camera was on my radar as well, but there was one thing that put me off (and you'll laugh), but its the outdated X trans sensor and lack of matching XT4 sims. I actually have done a few weddings and events now where I have shot RAW to one card and Jpg to another and lightly retouched the Jpgs and handed over to the client. The rendered Fuji look can be that good. I want to ensure that I am not unable to match whatever profile I use with the XT4 with the second backup body, so it really was a tie between the XS10 and XT30II in this regard.
      I thought the XS10 would be the closer match to the XT4 (and in many ways it is), but thinking about things a bit more (and purely from Stills perspective) I think the XT30II will be the actual better choice. Thanks for confirming this.

Fujifilm, there are a whole lot of photographers who prefer "tilt screen" to a "fully articulating screen", retro look with direct controls (menu driven controls are such a botheration), slightly deeper grip (but not as deep as XS 10, making it ugly & bulky), and IBIS. but here also confused,
    1) X-T4 = Costly (else this is first choice)
    2) X-T3 = Weather sealing + 10 bit + iso, exposure Knobs on camera body + better EVF
    3) X-S10 = IBIS

    It's fantastic - as are most, if not all of the most recent generation of X-Trans cameras - my only issue is the 'standard' dials you might find on a Sony/Nikon, etc. I just find some of the joy sucked out of the experience versus the more traditional Fuji dials (SS / ISO / EXP Comp) that really just - well - yeah, they bring me a little extra joy when shooting!

      No primes are stabilized, minus the 200 and 80mm macro for obvious specialty use case reasons.
      And for other ones they were balancing the use case for each focal length with price feature trade-off. only one i find weird is that the 16-55 zoom doesn't have OIS like the other major zooms. I think it'a definitely a case of there might be a couple anomalies vs no rhyme or reason.
      It's not the wild west though, nobody's grabbing random slips of paper from a hat to add features.

    I really hope that the X-S20 has either more body colour options like silver or some weathersealing

    It's sad that Fujifilm went away from their kaizen update policy and didn't give the X-T30 a nice update. I would even pay for an upgrade. Instead the start the way of other camera manufacturers doing Mark Versions of they cameras.

    2 years late for me but not offering IBIS on a mirroless camera is like Apple offering 256 gig storage on laptops.
