I successfully grew a Vanda Pachara Blue in a pot for 13 years and it bloomed profusely under no special care. I live up in the northeast and put it in a terra cotta pot with large orcheata bark, charcoal and lava rock. Initially it started out in a 8" pot and it eventually ended up in a 16" clay pot as it grew. When it got time to repot it I trimmed off the lower part of the plant to reduce its height but ensuring there were active aerial roots to absorb water and, nutrients. I watered it outside during the summer nearly everyday. Once indoors in the fall once a week in the shower and,I fed twice a month when actively growing. I misted daily. The most spikes it had was 3 with 6-8 flowers on each it was spectacular.

@Navy0401 see l love hearing this! People have vilified the pot life for vandas....but for some of us, it really is the best way in our climates! Thank you so much for your comment and for watching my video. I appreciate it!

Miss Lou, Im so happy to see this video! Your results are amazing. I live in the high desert, hot dry summers, and dry freezing winters. I have always been afraid to try growing Vandaceous orchids. Now I think I might be able to have success.
Do you mind if I ask how often do you need to water them on average? I know it will vary so just an average will give me an idea where to start.
    Thanks so much,
    Sherrii 😊

@sheiselwilliams1 am so happy this was helpful. I did the full watering routine some videos back. Check out the vanda Playlist. When they are outside in summer...EVEN though they are in pots l can water every 3 days or so and they get rained on when rain bothers to fall...and their roots are all fine! I unpotted one a few months back too....no decicated roots! It can be done! Especially for those of us in dry climates. I was already at 26% humidity just a few days ago in Ohio. Today it is higher at 39% ...not a favorite for vandas. But when potted in airy materials....it works 💚
