- The Marvels starring Brie Larson just released to horrible reviews from both critics and audience members and after watching The Marvels for myself it's easy to see why. In this review of The Marvels I go over all the ways it went wrong and why itself and many other Disney or Marvel movies seem to be failing lately, due to formulaic writing and boring characters. The Marvels may well and truly be the last straw for the MCU as reviews and box office revenue continue to drop for Marvel and Disney as a whole.

Spiderman is owned by Sony. So those occasionally good movies aren't Disney. They've been dead for a while.
Well far from home was made by Disney and just partly distributed by Sony. And Loki is an okay show not great but not bad, black panther was good but that’s Ryan Cooglers genius and not necessarily Disney

Don't forget Guardians of the Galaxy 3. That one was honestly the best marvel movie since endgame for me. I loved no way home too and i am a big fan of Spiderman but Guardians really have a special place in my heart man.

That’s sad but the truth. I remember shaking in my seat the first time i watched Civil War and Infinity War, literally could not control my body because of how excited I was to watch at the theater.

Marvel is like that dog you loved since you were a kid. You had a great life with it for several years and it's the biggest reason you're happy. Now, it's always sick, can't walk anymore, you constantly have to hand feed it, and it's clearly suffering. At some point, you have to put it down to end their suffering.
Marvel is suffering right now. It's not from toxic fans, it's not Ron DeSantis, and it's not covid. It's Disney management. They won't make a product we like so we shouldn't pay them. It's time to put marvel down.
Well i guess we get nearer and nearer to the 1.5 billion dollar loss this year for Disney at the box office. Not to forget there failure with Disney+ and their Shows there. Absolute crazy how "go woke , go broke" got real for Disney.

The problem is that Disney is worth about $155 Billion and they are hell bent on staying woke so 1.5 billion doesn't hurt them. Maybe it hurts the Christmas bonus of a few execs but Disney is just fine (unfortunately)

I just came back from one of their amusement parks recently and let’s just say I found out from an employee firsthand how much money they make in a single day. Disneyworld is divided up into i believe 5 parks. You have Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, Magic Kingdom and the others I don’t remember the name. In the Star Wars area they make hundreds of thousands of dollars alone on their iconic drinks such as the blue milk, Jedi adult drinks, and merch (lightsabers, outfits, etc). Literally hundreds of thousands of dollars from that area alone…
Imagine how much the whole of Disneyworld makes in one day? And not even including the one they have in California and in Asia.

Loki, Moon Girl, and Ahsoka have all been fantastic this year. Disney is definitely getting worst, but own too much property and stake in different facets of media/entertainment for them to go broke any time soon.

Their Disney+ has failed to make them money, Star Wars has been a failure, their live action movies are always criticized, Pixar hasn’t made a decent movie so now they’re relying on making sequels, and now the MCU is considered dead. The Disney empire is on the brink of collapse.

I think the death of the MCU is three fold: firstly they have no Avenger level team ups to really build towards. It would have been fun to have like three or four movies introducing the new heroes who would form the new Avengers lineup, and then have them team up. Secondly Disney+ episodic format. I lose interest in the shows when I have to watch 30 mins of nothing happening, and then wait a week for the next episode. Lastly it's political agenda sprinkled in. Super hero films are supposed to be fun and a break from reality.
I'm very happy i responded with no when some friends asked me to go to the movie this weekend, i'm a big marvel fan, but i will not support all this woke shit they're throwing at us. Just do some alternate MCU and do what u want with it Disney, but leave us with the one before Iron Man snapped his fingers. We don't need this woke shit and we don't want it, only way to show it is to avoid cinemas.

I think the writers milked the MCU to death. No more new ideas.
Plenty of good ideas if they stayed true to the source material, the comics. But instead of following all those great stories they try to push their political messages and that is all they care about and what no one wants to waste their time and money on.
Imagine a friend asking you "What movies/shows do I have to watch to understand The Marvels?" Than you have to look them in the eye ad tell them "Captain Marvel, Wandavision, Ms Marvel and Secret Inasion"

I gave up on Marvel after Infinity War/End Game...if they could just focus on stuff for instance what they did for GOTG Vol. 3 where they focused on the characters maybe they can rise from the ashes of their mishaps, but I don't know how this will turn around for them at this point...

I think most reviewers give this a better score than the average audience if for no other reason you actually watched the TV series, movies etc leading up to this. While according to the ratings data we have most people ignored the Marvel tv show. So not only is this a bad movie, it's built upon bad TV shows and movies few people even watched.

Just saw this movie. It wasn’t terrible. Also not the best. It was better than the shit marvel has been putting out lately. The end credits scene is bonkers though. You just have to see it and make up your mind instead of letting some review decide for you.

I’m a huge fan of Debicki and Thomasin and to be honest Brie Larson is very talented actress just made some not so tasteful comments when it came to promoting the original Captain Marvel

the movie didn't feel hunan cause it was NOT written by humans. it was written by leftists and pure cgi. they could have fared far better if they just used chatgpt to write the story
The sad thing is The Marvels has gone through multiple delays/rescheduling's (7 I believe), changing it from Captain Marvel 2 to this 3 main characters film, several rewrites a year after they finished filming the first time and at least 2 rounds of reshoots and they were also frantically editing the movie down (by over an hour) to make it "good". Captain Marvel 2 was originally meant to come out Q4 of 2020 🤦♂
My friend watched it alone. She said the ticket was cheap, in my country it's only $2. This is the second day it has been released. Only 7 people, including my friend were in the studio.

For me Marvel has lost my trust and my Respect a very long time ago, I was a fan for that solid decade and I will always cherish the memories of those fantastic movies and moments, but that’s it. It ended in my opinion At Endgame afterwards it turned into complete nonsense that I never thought possible. But that doesn’t matter anymore Disney Star Wars and Marvel is dead to me.
My Respect goes to you and any one else who watching this movie and have been watching all of them after endgame. I honestly would kill myself if I saw this. It’s disheartening to see something you cared and loved for die. And that’s where I think it needs to happen now put it out of its misery and let’s all move on together with our lives and see something new.
I think you are giving the director and especially the writers too much of a free pass. The directors and writers have been pushing the woke message over characters and story every bit as much as the company (case in point, She Hulk).

At the end you mentioned that you were done with Marvel. You should have pulled out after Endgame. That's what those in the know did, and it was the perfect send-off for Marvel. After that, each movie was judged independently and I only really was hyped for Multiverse of Madness and No Way Home. Multiverse of Madness was just crap (which I should have guessed because America Chavez's comics were pretty crap) and No Way home was great. Really, No Way Home was the perfect epilogue for the MCU in my eyes. A sort of rebirth out of tragedy that pulls for cinematic Spider-Man what Endgame pulled for the MCU: a final get-together of heroes ending with a decent send-off for the titular character that works as an ellipsis... The story is over and from those ashes, new stories can happen.
Thank you for suffering for us and saving us money.

i just lost all interest in these hacky piece of shit meaningless movies when i went into my 20s, we are simply saturated with options, why wouldn't i learn about geopolitics of history rather than watching a bunch of cgi fight scenes that may or may not have a script?
You know peak Marvel including Endgame and Infonity war was able to weave elements of geopolitics into its stories now they’re just badly written and formulaic.

This film is a colossal misfire. Good on you for not seeing this even with free tickets. Would not recommend seeing this. The plot is weak. Nick Fury could have been omitted and it wouldn't have affected the bland story. There was zero threat in the film and from the villain so no one is in any real danger. Brie Larson seems to be a likable person, but she just can't lead a film right now [imo, she did well in Endgame and Fast X, but that was in supporting roles].

The Marvels is a good example of what happens when you hire people based solely on their race or identity, instead of their competence and achievements at their job.

Superhero comics speak to the skinny eight year old kid that gets beaten up by bigger boys. Dreaming of getting through sacrifice to power and then use it for good. I have not idea who is the audience for: Random girl gets superpower for absolutly no reason and then mostly does not know what to do with it, except of beeing super bossy.
I just finished watching this " trash film" honestly it wasn't that bad compare to three film that I will throw into the pit of fire where it's belong. But this movie isn't one of them is it as great as spiderman across the spider-verse no is as bad wonder women 1984 definitely not that. It's just a good movie with decent writing though the villain still suck😒 and there some part of movie I didn't like overall it's just a fun movie. Coming from a non-fan of comic and very much happy to skip the live-action shows from the MCU. for me it get an 8.1 Ms.marvel out of 10 but hey it just me I guess😒.

@@blakekelly1839 You're right that it's impossible for any movie to please everybody, but Marvel movies used to get pretty close, they used to be crowd pleasers. You'll always have negative comments cause there will always be someone who dislikes the movie, there are so many negative comments right now cause people are feeling betrayed by marvel, they don't like the direction marvel is going and we expect that by making ourselves heard marvel will course correct soon.
I can't enjoy movies for what they are when the movie is so disjointed that it keeps making me think about what it could have been. This is the feeling I've had with lots of Marvel stuff these last few years, I don't go into movies wanting to hate them but if I get the sense that the movie is insulting my intelligence or taking me as a customer for granted then I just can't enjoy it. But if you're still enjoying marvel content all the power to you, wish I could say the same.

I recently received word from Apple that my annual Disney subscription was due for renewal in December but with a price increase. Needless to say I cancelled it immediately. Kennedy needs to be held accountable for the video and cinematic excrement she keeps dumping on us.
I only had a sub because my Internet provider gave me a free year. When that expired I canceled it. Mostly because of Star Wars, but Marvel sucks too.

The MCU as we know it truly died after the first half of Avengers: Endgame. All empires rise and fall and we had a good run for 11 years. RIP MCU. (2008 - 2019) You will be missed.
All I see if a bunch of sheep in the comment section. I watched this before watching the moving not having high hopes for The Marvels but the movie is actually decent. Sets up greater upcoming projects. Sure the movie itself isn’t Endgame or No Way Home quality but overall it’s still decent and a fun watch.
The last superhero film I saw was Dark Knight Rises in 2012 and I'm very happy about that as there seems to be a constant flow of excrement spewing out of Hollywood these days :D As for The Marvels, I actually think Samuel L Jackson's character looks good - he seems like he belongs in a good film. Everything else looks like some kind of joke.
What about the Spider Man Home Trilogy those are really good too. 😊

It is amazing to me how they produce something awesome and entertaining like Loki season 2 but almost at the same time they produce this C tier high budget trash agenda checklist
The theatre I went to was nearly sold out, the crowd laugh and cheer. It was mostly grown men too. It was much louder and fuller then past marvel movies I've seen.
I hope the cheque from Disney is worth lying for…

I gave up on theMCU after the Multiverse of Madness. It was obvious they we’re heading down the Star Wars path.

Sigh!....Still waiting for at least one review that is even slightly positive about this movie.
So basically, Ms. Marvel or Iman Vellani is the best part of the movie, but she isn't enough to make the movie good, and the moments that they try to make emotional aren't there. That's the basis of the majority of the reviews that I have seen. I hope Iman Vellani gets more lead roles because she killed it in the Ms. Marvel TV series.

My heart absolutely breaks for Iman Vellani, who plays Kamala Khan. This was only her second acting gig, and to see her roped in this fiasco is depressing. Not helping matters is that she allegedly got bullied by Larson to the point of tears. I don't think Vellani will want to act ever again after this. She will not live this down, and that's why I'm so angry with this film.
Brie is leaving and I feel Iman has some real potential, I hope she stays through it and if Marvel gets on track I feel I could maybe like Ms Marvel compared to Brie and Teyonah
My heart breaks for Teyonah Parris. She should have been Captain Marvel. If Disney-Marvel actually gave a damn about diversity, the Captain Marvel movie should have been hers from the get-go. Monica was the first female Captain Marvel in the 90s and Carol took the mantle from her. This whole twist to push Carol Captain Marvel front and center has been central to the state the MCU. When your source material for your new characters taking over for legacy characters is garbage, this is what you get.
To be in a big organization like marvel and Disney isn’t really that bad for a second gig. I’d kill to have my second gig be at Disney, regardless of how well it did or what happened.
What they need to do is stop what they'redoing, restructure with aclear plan that incorporates the X-men in a massive way ASAP, have Rogue permanently steal Carol's powers (at the same time facilitating Carol's exit from the MCU by leaving her in an indefinite coma), and then have Kamala and Rogue interact every once in awhile with a fun sort of rivarly based around Kamala's anger about what Rogue did to Carol. Give Kamala's actor some proper drama work with and not a bunch of lighthearted goofy stuff.

@@dashx1103 My problem with it is that they constantly dog on male characters and this is apparent in that movie too, it was becoming a running joke in Marvel to kick lead characters in the scrotum and then make it look like a joke. Imagine if there was a running joke about "punching boobs" or "pinching female hero's nipples", the outcry would be horrific.
@@chadrainternational7777 I don't recall "dogging" on male characters in Shang-Chi. Notably the hero in that movie is male. He is completely likeable and he was truly heroic in the story. So ... not sure what to tell you. If you want a "boob punching" scene from a movie, let me suggest Kingpin (of which I remember no outcry).
@dashx1103 LOL I remember Kingpin but remember it was a adult comedy, she was kicking him between the legs and he was retaliating. SC was a family superhero movie, so was Thor, Black Widow and others. Yet if you enjoyed SC it's cool was just saying it is part of the Reason Marvel is on a decline, the Disney Agenda was strong in it.

Im sure when it comes to the overall plot the movie hardly has one which is prob why it tanked so hard; but that being said, some of us just like to have a couple of “drinks” and zone out to an action packed movie about space and cool looking stuff 👀
That’s exactly why i kinda liked ant man 3 and Thor love and the thunder. Sure the storyline didn’t make much sense but it looks cool and at the end of the day that’s all I need to enjoy a movie.

The first movie was trash. It made billion dollars because Disney knows how to market and sell merch. Nobody sane and sober and not brownnosing thought the movie was good. Even my dog hated it.
@@mcentepedeIt only made a billion dollars because it was sandwiched between two of the biggest Marvel movies to date. No one *actually* cared about the first movie, they just saw it as homework before watching endgame, and Disney knew how to capitalize on it. I knew this back then and predicted nobody would care for the sequel.

This movie was definitely a crime against cinema but I don't think the MCU is dead, although everyone associated with this movie certainly tried to kill it.
Movies like Deadpool 3 and Captain America 4 are the real measure of if the MCU can bounce back.

I won’t lie. The script and some of the cgi was horrible. But there were some genuinely funny jokes that surprised me. Like the flurken kittens eating everyone as they try to escape without knowing it would save them. Or when Kamala was falling and switched with Captain Marvel last second and fury said “oh it’s just Danvers.” That’s it, that’s all I liked from this film. Even the Beast from xmen showing up at the end of the credits was poorly made because the CGI was so painfully noticeable.
Also, how tf do these characters with little to know martial arts training know how to fight so well. Kamala has had no training whatsoever from what has been shown to somehow fight multiple trained FUCKING ALIENS. Powers or not
I gotta disagree about the director, writers and actors because they all did their beat to ruin this movie.
Kamala was good in the first two acts but thats literally the only person that tried in this movie.
