Purdue being the villain in ridiculous. If any fanbase has tasted defeat and suffered losses that derailed their runs (Haas broken arm, Hummel ACL) it's Purdue. NC State already has a banner they should be the villain.

My parents made my brother and I eat nasty vegetables at dinner. My dad would carefully cover them up with a napkin so as not to be a bad example. But my brother and I knew what was up.
How can Purdue be a villian when they have had so many unlucky things happen through the years? They lost Robbie Hummel during a year they were going to be a no. 1 seed, had he not gotten injured mid-season. A few years back Isaac Haas got injured during the NCAA tourney (I think it was the second round) and he was instrumental to their game plan, so they then lost. I could go on and on about bad things hurting them time after time. Purdue came within two points of going to the final four in 2019 but Virginia got off a lucky shot in the last second of regulation, game went to OT, Purdue lost. Purdue has had stuff happen over the years. They deserve this.
In that 2018 sweet 16 when Haas got injured, he got cleared to play with an elbow cast and before tip it was deemed illegal so he couldn't play. Texas Tech then went to to the natty. Also, Virginia Won the natty that year they beat purdue on that buzzer beater. I agree with everything you said. Purdue is looked at as villains solely bc the NCAA doesn't know how to ref Edey since he technically does play within the rules, what fans perceive as fouls just get exacerbated by how big he is.
I'll never forget that game. Ryan Cline could have sealed it at the line... our best shooter but he missed the FT and then the crazy ending. :-(

So I this NC State team. they have embraced the underdog role and play with the mindset of "why not us?" and proving themselves. this far in their run they have proved the haters wrong.
I hate being a pessimist, but I really feel like this is where NC state's run ends. It feels like you just don't see these types of stories go all the way anymore.

Going 17-14 is dominating most teams? That's a ridiculous statement. Then went 0-5 against ranked teams. Their tourney run has been good going 3-0 against ranked opponents in the ACC/NCAA but lets be real here with them 'dominating'. Given their lack of good wins during the regular season it would suggest they have been playing 'their best' games in March.

@@jcpawlak8485 I don't see it. Edey is more than just points. How is DJ going to 'cancel out' his points and rebounds? If DJ guards him is he going to front him or play from behind? He'll need help from Diarra. From behind Edey will get easy shots, fronting him Edey will be behind him and getting easy rebounds and the team able to pass over the top. Where DJ is better is his passing. I imagine DJ won't be guarding him but we'll see because DJ doesn't have a lot of lift. 1-1 is a mismatch imho. I imagine Purdue will also give help with TKR to keep Edey from getting into any foul trouble. DJ's best attack imho is try to force / clear space and fade back or try to draw fouls if Edey is leaning into him on the back downs.
