I hated the presentation of this draft. They didn't show very many highlights or anything in every pic that was chosen, was a very neutral and bland reaction. No enthusiasm anywhere. We have pretty much no idea who these players are, and it seems like everyone's disappointed with the number one player in the draft that was selected. No one was saying that he was worth the pressure on selection or mention why he was worth the selection. These guys didn't do enough breakdown of these players

The Hornets probably expected Ron Holland to be there. He should fit well with Miller and Ball, instant 3&D at the 4 and you can also slide him at the 5 with the second unit, he's 6.9 and has a wingspan over 7ft. Long term he can be the third best player on that team or at the very least always a valuable role player for a playoffs team. You have to look at where his game was at the end of the season, not at where he was projected earlier this year, young players in professional leagues get limited playing time and chances early on. Doncic and Wembanyama are rarity.
History just shows that a good handful of these picks will surprise, contribute, and eventually develop into consistent career NBA players, and a select few will be All-Star/All-NBA level. Even going back from 2014-2023, you can see that it really doesn't matter where you are drafted... and even some undrafted players will garner some legitimate success in their career. In recent memory, players like Andrew Nembhard, Naz Reid, Brandin PodZ, etc. all were drafted significantly lower respectively to their NBA abilities. In Naz' case, he is an undrafted Sixth Man of the Year. The most polarizing choice of round one though, by far, was Dillingham. Minnesota has a notorious history of drafting some stinkers in comparison to what's available (I'm looking at them passing on Steph Curry and drafting two guards AHEAD of him in the same draft) Minnesota also is paying a 28 million dollar tax to go up INTO THE LOTTERY for a player. So they must expect him to contribute immediately for their team, in some way. Either he will be a star, and they felt like pulling the trigger there was the best play, or they just wasted a bunch of money.

Can’t say that this wasn’t predictable given the intention to expand the market internationally buts nice to see the NBA/media/stakeholders mission to encourage opportunities of diversity, equity and inclusion for all races/nationalities to expand the market… even if it is at times an unintended consequence of more insidious motives within stakeholders/special-interest-groups/media/etc… the fact of the matter is that regardless of the intended/unintended consequences at the end of the day, the results are ultimately resulting in more diversity/equity/inclusion for more races and nationalities around the country/world to make it into the top/greatest basketball league in the greatest country that more people within our collective alliances and beyond will have a shot at the nba dream and prosperity of wealth/recognition/competition/etc for the top echelon players around the world can have an opportunity to take part in and to have an opportunity to shine for their people/country/etc for an audience around the globe 🌎 🌍 🌏 ❤️👏🏾🤙🏾👍🏾
