This is a great way to learn. I’ve been selling on eBay since 1998, before PayPal was alive. Thanks for your content:) Bonus for you: A new brand to look for Nili Lotan
Pete and Greta & Biya are Johnny Was bolo brands. Some women’s brands that I’m always on the lookout for are Veronica Beard, loveshackfancy, house of CB (Sold one on posh Mark for nearly double retail price), gal meets glam, Alice + Olivia. Haven’t checked the sellthrough on any of these brands but they are all high end & very sought after!
I Love your videos and I’m learning so much from you. I’m late to the game like usual but at least I’m here. lol. You make learning all this so much fun. Your background organ music in this was cracking me up and your usual witty comments were the perfect touches to make something mundane to do, again fun to watch and learn. Thanks again!
Ulla Johnson is high end designer. Sundance is a catalog brand by Robert Redford. Love your videos... I am about sell thru rate too! In any brand it depends on the piece and style.
I had no idea Redford made clothing. Thanks for loving my videos. Seems like a huge chunk of all clothing brands have at least something with high sellthrough. Always fun to learn about those weird little niches.
@@ThriftALife Redford (or a designer/designee) curates the aesthetic/lifestyle - and not sure if you use stock photos, but Sundance will flag them, so use ya' own...
Awesome idea, thank you ! Seeing the actual tag is always the best way for me to recognize them later......I also watch other RUclipsrs haul videos and then look up brands they find when I’m not familiar with them
I appreciate your channel very much. New subscriber here. I am just learning about men's brands to resell. I had no idea 5.11 Tactical was a quick flip so yesterday I decided to head to the Goodwill closer to my house. I found 10 of them, cargo pants, for $4 each and 2 of them are new with tags. Thank you! Oh, you have to be a bit picky when picking up Johnny Was. The floral and bright dresses sell better. I have a black and dark green one that just won't sell! I have retaken the pictures and lowered the price and they are still in my bin. White tunics with bright floral embroideries sell best and fast!
Sundance and Soft Surroundings are both catalog brands. Both are upscale, Sundance is a bit more boho. I love them both, I shop the sales, got several copies of the blouse of my dreams for only $10. Always enjoy your videos Matt. Looking forward to buying your book.
My husband and I bought a Brahmin crossbody bag from goodwill for about 5$ we put it up on eBay and sold it within 48 hours at $75. I didn’t see it on the manifesto but the sell through is pretty good
Johnny Was is awesome. Very high priced new. Designed by ex figure skater Johnny Weir. Sell through rate is amazing. I have only found one top here in the Midwest. Sold in 2 days for $75. You are more likely to find it on the West coast.
I wonder if there's a way to code a plugin for Firefox to automate this process on eBay, or feed a bunch of brands into it and let it crunch the numbers for you and spit out sellthrough rates.
You have been my number one trusted channel for tips and tricks lately! I am looking to switch to more new with tags brand name clothing and shoes instead of thrifting all the time.. but I recently went full time and I am so scared to spend 1000 and end up with stuff that isn’t worthwhile.. Any chance you could do a video on how to find sources for this? I have tried some of the middle man box companies that are between 100-400 and basically just tell you a couple of the brands you may receive.. and those have not been that great. I am looking for something with a manifest.
It's a real conundrum, and I wish I had some good advice for you. I dabbled in bulk buys for hard goods but never made the leap with clothes. Always wound up reminding myself that I can just go thrift an equivalent volume and it'll all be stuff I actually want. More work, of course. Consider looking at bulk purchases of vintage t-shirts. People seem to have good luck doing that.
FARM rio did a collab with Adidas. If you ever find anything from that collab it’s pretty sought after. I stumbled upon a NWT pair of shorts at goodwill and got them for myself to go with some other pieces I have from that collab but they don’t fit so sadly I’ll have to list them but luckily they’re a rare piece
Matt, Johnny Was is huge in the reseller community. Very sought after. But the tag you pulled up is a vintage tag. The newer ones are the best tags I’ve ever seen. They have embroidery on them as well. You probably won’t find that tag in stores
Sorry, I cut off. The one you pulled up it isn’t found in the stores anymore. I’ve been selling since 2008 and I haven’t seen it at all. Put it this way, when I find a Johnny Was, I get a quick jolt or a high. That’s how cool it is to find them. Part of Johnny Was is also the tag “ 3J’s” and there’s another one I can’t think right now. All part of the same company. I hope this helps. 😀
Try Mother jeans-100% sell through. And Ibex-400% sell through in men’s. Similar brand to icebreaker. Watch Mogibeth on you tube if you want to familiarize yourself with women’s brands that have high ASP and sell through. Thanks for sharing.
I just recently started selling on Ebay...sold 1 item so far, I just don't see 90% of the items you mention in your channel...maybe I live in too rural of an area. Any advice to continue and make at least a part time job out of being a reseller on Ebay? Love your channel out of all the resellers out there!
Find stuff for cheap (dollar or less) and work quantity over quality. As in, make less money per item but flip everyday brands like Lucky and Levi's that you'll be able to find more easily. If you have a bins near you, you should be sourcing there. Also consider sourcing on Poshmark - you can find stuff if you hunt. Also look for big fat deals at garage sales and flea markets. If none of that is available then consider finding a niche that will be easier to source for where you live.
If you live rural then try to find vintage western wear. Pearl snap, embroidered stuff, western cut suit jackets, etc. I currently live sorta rural but still in California - there's more working class people than yoga pants people, and the thrifts reflect this. Figure out what is unique to your area. Vintage agricultural swag like john deere hats, Dekalb Corn signage, etc - all holds value to someone.
I would crawl over hot coals and fire ants to get to a Johnny Was piece. 😆 I've found only one piece in my reselling career and sold it within 30 minutes of listing.
My rule of thumb is 100% or higher, though I deviate lower based on if I think I can flip something for big money. People calculate sellthrough differently - I mean 100% as in the solds divided by the actives, times a hundred.
I have a fear of selling women’s jeans on eBay because of this exact reason and ebays return policies. On poshmark though it’s my favorite thing to sell and a consistent seller. I list flat lay measurements for waist, hip, front rise, back rise, inseam and leg opening as a screen shot from my notes and put it in photos and in my listing template it says see all measurements in pics by the size I put. I will say (knock on wood) I have never gotten a return approved on PM and the few cases I’ve ever had (which have always been for fit and people say crazy lies to try and get shit through) have always been for fit or “item not as described” and I always have won replying with screen shots from the listing of my measurements and description and PM has always denied the case and favored in my side. The amount of people I follow who have issues with returns on women’s denim on eBay just sounds like my anxiety doesn’t wanna deal with it lol
