I owe you a beer for this one. Piston stopped working the other day. I searched youtube for some ideas. Came across this and sure enough, same issue. I would not have figured this one out on my own. Hit it with a little heat and set it back in place once it cooled. Saved me a trip to my local guy and a few bucks. Thanks devil dog.
Just had the same thing happen on my 24 year old mtd 20 ton splitter. Mine has a typical Lovejoy type coupler so parts are available at ag suppliers (not the big box store type though). When mine failed it ground away some of the spider and the pump half of the coupler. Under $30 including a new filter and I’m back in business. I had suspected the pump itself as I could see the shaft turning on the motor side. The coupling shroud blocked me from seeing the pump side. Your video made me look twice. I put my phone camera under the unit and the video showed exactly the same as what yours had done. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for your video. You mapped out the repair and saved me a mechanic fee. My coupler had the metal teeth shorn off. Found a Bearing company for parts. Very helpful.
@@roycestanton1351 I live just east of Houston near Baytown Texas. I went to Tractor Supply, Garth Rd and they had an assortment of those couplers literally on the shelf. It was a relatively easy fix for this shade tree mechanic

Thank you so much! I'm pulling mine apart tomorrow and this is just what I needed to dare to dive in.

Congrats on the fix! I've been around lately, as I have stopped smoking 3wks and 3days ago. 😁

Farm and fleet can probably get it. A small engine repair shop or the manufacturer
Tractor Supply
Where did you find the part at? I checked my local Tractor Supply and their website and also Farm and Fleet's website.
