Every time I watch you work on the underside of a car, I realize how much I love working on cars down south.
Man, that slow motion part was LEGIT. Thanks Hannah for helping your dad help us.
+Ricardo Barron Are they related? I thought Hannah was a summer shop assistant of sorts.
+argonian bilbo Hannah is just summer help and after school. No relation.
+argonian bilbo whoops my bad
There's one thang about it when folks bring you something to fix you make sure that you do a super job on whatever your doing. Your one of the best I've seen. Great work Sir...👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you for your videos, it really helps me understand the odds and ends to look out for/prep for when doing this type of work.
That harbor fright battery impact is a pretty versatile tool, takes off bolts and nuts an doubles for a hammer....love it! Nicely done repair. Not too bad with the rust battle. Thanks for the video.
I notice that the rusty conditions down there are the main issue to all comon car problems!!! That jeep is not so old and it's all full of rust on the bottom and the body.Great job and video! Erick, I'm always in tune watching your videos and learning new techniques!ALWAYS THANKFUL THAT SHARE YOUR KNOWLEDGE!
the dramatic endurance of the "hammering" ..... brought a tear to my eye.... oscar worthiness!
+Trim Jazz Haha did you replay it/
Fetching tools, video-saving Jump Pack idea for powering the camera... *Hana Rocks!*
Lots and Lots of patience you have buddy, I'm doing similar stuff, w.o patience our job won't take us any where.
Great job all around on this one Eric. The Autel functions, the sensor types, the Shake and Break, I learned a lot. Plus, your video work just keeps getting better and better! Thanks!
man I feel for you. I live just south of Atlanta GA. I rarely ever see rust that bad. Good video man. God bless
I enjoy all your videos. You have a nice presentation style. As a DIY'er, I know the workings of just my cars. It is nice to see repairs of other makes and models.
LOVE the 60 frames per second! It seems so real.
Another great video Eric. I like the way you have your assistant hand you the necessary tools to perform the surgery.LOL.
Fluid Film FTW!! Great video as always Eric and Hannah!!
nice video Eric ! hey every time I watch your videos I learn something new thanks for sharing and keep up the good work!
I’ve had three of these. They are 17mm and yeah can be a cluster to get hub off. I bought a grade 8 bolt longer to beat them off. Fun fun fun!
that slow-mo earned and thumbs up from me!!! nice editing man!
another great fix Dr. O !!!! congrats on 30,000+ subs and 5,000,000+ views !!!! best mechanic on yt !!!
new here and love your channel,,,I do my own work and always learning new things thanks
Nice Job Eric. I like the side by side merged waveforms on that autel. cool
Huge respect for this. Maybe it's because I'm in New England but my Jeep ended up looking something like this. Most videos are full of rust free cars and everything comes apart like it's supposed to. I've learned better that what should be a 20 min job can be multiple hours of torching, cutting, kicking and hammering. Oh and removing bolts that the impact wrench snaps off....
Nice to see someone who has to deal with rust like do here in Michigan. Gonna have to pick me up one of those shake n break tools. Also thank you for turning me onto fluid film. Hardly a job goes by that I don't use it on now!
+Nick Palmer I have them right here if you need one...astore.amazon.com/httpswwwy0837-20/detail/B008M23A5U
Eric the 720p at 60 FPS looks amazing! I hope future videos will be the same. Anyway, you're literally the only youtube channel I follow. Keep it up and thanks!
Wow got to see the Snap-on long barrel in action. Nice uneventful bearing change & another happy SMA customer!
+Hayward's Automotive Yeah, no fire , no swearing, no nothin....
+South Main Auto Repair I like those days!
Thanks Eric, your video was a lot of help. Great job!!
For that compass being roughly 8 years old I would have expected the backing plates to be falling apart. That job went a little to easy for you haha. Great production once again and congratulations on breaking the thirty-thousand subscriber mark.
MY BACKING PLATE WAS RUSTED THRU IN N.Y. I SHOULD PAINTED IT EARLY ON.
That snap on air hammer is a beast!
Thanks for the videos! Huge help. Saves us money and we gain knowledge! U da man.
Loving the Braid music in the slo mo's.
Man that Astro light is perfect for filming. Hanna and hammers to the rescue!
Hah, i love the surprise slow-mo. good job as always, eric. greetings from cologne!
+DJS4000 One of my favorite channels myself!
Thank you for the well made video. I have to do the same to my 2010 jeep patriot.
Your video has helped me alot, thank you for posting this.
That was a awesome video wheel bearing are a big deal over here in Chicago as well god knows how meny I changed love the videos keep them coming
+jdiaz271 I have to be into the 10,000's my self lol
hey Eric!!! congrats to over 30.000 subscribers!!
Great tutorial ! Gonna have to do this as soon as my wheel bearing turns up, it's annoying having to throw out a perfectly good wheel bearing because of a rotten 2 cent metal clip but whatcha gonna do ? Thanks for the video!
I REALLY ENJOY YOUR VID'S brings back memories and almost every time you screw a bolt, i find myself screwing it in with my fingers at the same time.LOL
Over 30,000 subscribers, Way to go Eric!
+Glen Harper 30,269 isnt over 31k, but whatever floats your boat.
Excellent job and very informative.
Haha .. .nice nod to the Slow Mo Guys Eric!! Great video!
+Jared Wise Wish I had their accent though hahha
I like the drama effect with the hammer. Yep your vehicles look just like ours all rusty and crusty.
+Techman 48917 They sure are
9:07 now that was the coolest slowmo I ever seen.
Eric you are the best on you tube !!!
Stabilizer bushing (or whatever they are) are shot. That's why it rides like a delivery truck. And yea, the Meditation Music while doing the hammer job was spot on !
Stabilizer bushing?
this guys that good i give thumbs up before i watch the uploads now.
Same here! He can load a vid of paint drying and he gets a thumbs up from me!
@@PonFORDS Eric would make a dozen humorous comments about the paint, about drying, about cheep paint from China, about how this brand of paint is good but that other brand peels off in a week, and we would all LOL.
Thanks for you video, my repair went good with help from your video! 🙂👍
Bang up job buddy. 👍👍
Congrats on 30K subs!
I bought one of those newer, smaller jump-packs and it couldn't jump-start my van. The battery was at 12.6 volts, but was low on amps.
Those older, larger jump-packs have higher amperage.
Good find &good job
One thing we don't deal with often on the west coast, and that is rust and salt. Nice to see these videos on how to deal with it.
+4literpowered I can send you some
No i'm good. We wouldn't know what to do if we saw that stuff, we would just run away from it.
oh how i love being a mechanic in orlando florida. the hell with all that rust.
Hannah deserves more credit and recognition! Nice job! Awesome slow mo special effects too...LMAO
+Scott Wyant I praise her for the good job she does.
man!! Eric!! your video lightning quality improved with those Astro light things! those things are awesome ! I need one of those :D.
+Adel Jeffrey (Jeffrey's Auto) Well you know where they are at :) ruclips.net/video/xozcA2O8ZOY/видео.html
Holy Shit bro. I just finished this job. This video made it super easy. I had one problem. My wheel speed sensor was so hard to get back in. If I knew it was going to be that tight I would have pried it out a hair before installing the hub. Also the clip was slightly dif then what was on it stock. I think that was the biggest problem but it all works so thanks for the video.
THE CHINESE HOLDING CLIP IS NOT SPRING STEEL AND DOES NOT HOLD WELL....BEND IT INTO THE CLIP MORE TO HOLD BETTER ..
Great video, hope Snap on sell the shake and break in the UK what a useful tool
Lisle makes one too, might be US only though.
Great video, any idea on the torque for those 4 bolts
always informative, thank you ...
Oh the music at 8:58 is wonderful.
Really good video, even without the sledge or flame wrench. The air hammer did come into play.
+Garth Goldberg I know it went way to easy
Ivan has got a tone ring video today also. Are you guys coordinating?
Garth Goldberg No this is just how it happened. People think that though hahah
great video eric two thumbs up ..
great job Hana. you make sure the boss looks good and keep the video going smooth! :-)
+d st She must do the work when eric needs to rest!
30,000 subs you are moving up my friend....
Great video Eric ! I'm going by the Amazon store to pick up one of those shake and break extensions
+N Smith astore.amazon.com/httpswwwy0837-20/detail/B008M23A5U
Got it !
Always love to see that Nano, AKA "The Beast!"
So when is Hannah going to come on camera and guide us through a repair? SMA, The Next Generation?? Haha.
+Pete Gaytan III Oh nooooo ... she is going on to the medical field after next year when she graduates.
dude... you're a life saver.
Awesome vid, thanks!
Snap On appreciates the air hammer and socket adapter you just sold for them! 8-)
Light hammer 🔨 application had me on the floor😂
whoossa 60 fps offers really nice detail.. I think I got a bit of rust in my eye!!!!
hi Eric great work please what that spray which use it at last to cover the sensor from moist ?
Great video! currently replacing the rear driver side on my 07 patriot. I am stuck getting the whole assembly off. I got all 4 bolts off the hub assembly, but i cant get the whole thing off now. coming from Indiana, its pretty rusty. I sprayed it down with penetrating oil, and beat the heck out of it with my mallet. shouldn't it just fall off? any tips for this? Thanks and keep the videos coming!
I have same problem in same left rear tire .. After replacing the bearing the abs and Asp lights comes on with the airbag light
You got me laughing! I have brake cleaner in my kitchen and a welder in my living room. Pneumatic jack too.
Rocket Power baby!! Love mine....available in the SMA Amazon store everyone!
+Scott Wyant sure is :)
+South Main Auto Repair astore.amazon.com/httpswwwy0837-20/detail/B00JLPNHJQ
An SMA video two days in a row!!! Sweet. Cool slow motion effects with the hammer. You may have a second career as a video editor.
+Paul Carroll Haha going big with my walmart camera and free software lol
+South Main Auto Repair well Ivan did just refer to you as "the legend" in his latest video....
***** Hahah
Nice job Eric. Why does all your repairs go just like the book? Mine, not so much. Thanks for the vid. Thanks to your assistant also. Good work. Doug
+Douglas Laramie By the book!? Come on I get slid by this rusty crap all the time
Lol! This guy loves his brake clean. Good video sir. Got a new sub today. Will be checking out your Amazon store too Keep up the good videos.
BTW... I think this video is proof, not to buy a vehicle west of the Mississippi. Salt does nasty things to metal, paint, rubber, and electronics.
Oh yeah upstate NY here eats them alive!
Luv me the CVT!
hey eric when might there be a new average day in the shop vid?
Now
That's pretty nice cuz I was working on that over the weekend and I'm not done yet cuz I don't have a power tool to remove it I was thinking about just trying to figure out if I can drill it out I did the other side no problem but for some apparent reason passenger side is a tough one thank you for sharing you said it's a 17 do you remember what the bolt pitch is I didn't want to go to the dealership they want too much money I paid $44 for four of them I'm not too long ago well actually last year
Another excellent video. I've gotta get me a "Hannah"!
+Jeffrey Cardimen Lol we all need one, they save miles on the legs
Someone also sells that same shake and break tool(for a lot more money) as a brake bleeder removal tool. I have one and it easily frees stuck bleeders and those screws that hold rotors on, along with everything else i've tried it on. I only wish they made one in 1/4" drive so i wouldn't need to use a 3/8" to 1/4" drive adapter when using small sockets on small bleeder screws.
Chris
I saw that same tool, and was curious if it was BS. thanks for the report that it woks
The old air tool hammer. As long as it's yours. Lol 😂
Bro please tell me you sprayed clear coat on there after removing the paint
That new Air Hammer is *sick*. I'm surprised it doesn't have a cushion grip- probably hurts your hand after a minute.
We are look at a 2014 Patriot. there is a vibration when putting on breaks quickly tracked it to bad rotors. But there is dragging feel and grinding grinding sound from the rear but it smooths out and grinding sound goes away when barely compressing the breaks. My question is do you think it’s a bad caliper or bad wheel bearing(s) or both? I know you’re the Jeep guy, so I’m sure you have already dealt with this.
is it the same even for the 2wd version minus the axle?
holy rust bucket Batman!
To update I had a chafe through of the left rear ABS harness green with black stripe power wire right in front of the Cooling fan
Jeep=Titanic Edition.
@South Main Auto Repair LLC. My sons 2007 Jeep Liberty Limited 4x4 needs the rear wheel bearing but it doesn't look anything like this one. I wonder if you have to pull the axle shaft out in order to get the bearing off & replaced...
HANNAH is cute and smart she`ll do well at school and after ,good job DR.O &MISS HANNAH
How you doing Eric? Hope you are having a good day.
+RomanAutomotive I'm doing good...
With the weather having eaten away some of the head of the 4 bolts that hold the bearing on, why did you not get 4 new bolts?
Question for anyone on here. Sorry if this is long winded. I recently replaced pads and rotors and now today I am doing the caliper. The caliper piston face had a few chips where metal (or is it ceramic?) was missing along the outside edge so I thought why not replace it. Now that I have it all apart again I noticed two small scrape marks all the way around on the back of the rotor and two scrape marks on the one brake pad. It's almost as if two rocks sat inbetween the pad and the rotor. I am wondering if the worn out piston could cause this by not equally applying pressure? Also does the rotor and pad need to be replaced or should I just leave it? The scrape isn't very deep but its definitely noticeable. Especially on the rotor.
I also just recently had the wheel bearing done on that side. Could a worn wheel bearing cause a scrape like that?
Little back story. The car lit up like a christmas tree with all the lights on. I replaced driver and passenger side pads and rotors and only driver side caliper as it's piston face was also cracked and missing pieces. Then I drove it very little and had a shop do the wheel bearing. At that time they told me the back of the rotor which was practically new, had been scraped. When I got the bearing done I cleared the lights and they stayed off for about a week. Now all the lights are back on including abs. So I decided I would change the other caliper which wasn't as bad as drivers side but had a small chip out of it.
TLDR: What the hell would cause the caliper piston face to crack and chip off. And would you recommend changing the the rotor and pad because they have a scrape in them?
Car is a Toyota Prius.
Tenks from MTY México
Sooooo, any idea why they put the tone ring and sensor out where the salty spray flies, instead of, say, inside the hub? And if this one is bad, how far behind can the other three be?
Just had my bearing replaced on my 2016 Jeep compass
