  • “I ran from a challenging life hoping that it will be different somewhere else. The challenges I faced in other countries were far too big than those I had in Pakistan. I reached Turkey via Iran. After wasting more than a year there, I decided to try my luck in Germany. I joined a group of Syrians intended to enter Europe by crossing Turkey-Greece border illegally. We traveled through harsh weathers and extremely dangerous conditions. People died on the way; we would leave their bodies there and continued our journey. After a month, some of us were finally in Germany. Sadly, it was not what I had risked my life for. Obtaining a work permit proved near to impossible for irregular migrants like us. No one should go abroad through irregular pathways. I am in Pakistan now and putting all the efforts to make a better life for my family”.
Tanveer returned from Germany voluntarily after six years. He gives an honest account of his journey to Europe and his struggle of finding a regular job and saving money for his family.
