Similarities Between Arabic and Urdu

- How close are Urdu and Arabic? The languages belong to two different family groups but the Urdu language contains many Arabic originating words. In this episode, Meena, an Arabic speaker from Iraq, and Ayesha, an Urdu speaker from Pakistan, challenge each other with a list of words and sentences.
Modern Standard Urdu is a Persianized and standardised register language of the Hindustani language. It is the official national language and lingua franca of Pakistan. In India, it is one of the official languages recognized in the Constitution of India, having official status in the five states of Jammu and Kashmir, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand, as well as the national capital territory of Delhi. For centuries prior to the British colonization, Persian was widely used as a second language in the Indian subcontinent and has had a huge impact on the languages of the region.
Arabic is a Central Semitic language and the official language of Algeria, Bahrain, Comoros, Chad, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Somalia, Syria, Tanzania (Zanzibar), Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen. Arabic is also the liturgical language of Islam.

The Arab girl has a very good grasp of the Arabic language. Most Arabs only speak dialect. She's clearly smart and educated. Kudos to her.
All Arabs are aware of fusha, however because of the lack of practice, it becomes difficult to speak it on a daily basis. Arabic lessons in school are taught in fusha, so it’s absurd of you to suggest they’re unaware of it. However, MOST, if not ALL Arabs don’t use fusha. We have different dialects, fusha is in the hikayat (stories) news reports, official things, books, etc.. Normally, speaking to one another, we use dialects. This girl though is remarkably intelligent, and undeniably smart. But for you to say most Arabs know only dialect, is completely wrong. And when you said ‘speak’ I’m assuming you meant ‘know.’ Because she doesn’t speak fusha, she knows fusha.
Indeed!
Iraqi people are well educated but the events there are the problem
Sumerian Iraq
She is, she’s from Iraq.
Youmna Ahmouch Know as in speak? Correct, not all Arabs speak fusha- in fact I mentioned that before. But there is no Arab that is not aware of the existence of fusha, because it is THE original form of Arabic. Taught everywhere, widely used in stories and almost in every Arabic country. Arabs know it unless you’re talking about newborns, then of course; but that would be absurd to suggest.

She's incredibly eloquent. Her explanation about the n-z-m root word was great.
@@tahashaukat3342 yes I was impressed! as a non-native arabic speaker I had to study all that stuff, but I noticed that very few natives have such a firm grasp on how this language works... most of them don't even know about the three-letter roots. good for her!
Brigister what? Everybody knows the root system 😅 maybe you talked to natives that never went to school in their lives (they’re still supposed to know the root system tho but maybe it’s difficult to figure out without going to school)
@@saraawi idk what to tell you, i've talked to a huge variety of arabic native speakers, from different countries and different social backgrounds and very few of them were actively aware of the roots system. if I tried to explain it to them, they would soon be like "oooh I see", but very few of them had actually ever thought about it actively.

كان واحد باكستاني حافض القران و يتكلم إلا لغة الباشتون و الانجليزي و الاردو. ولكن قال لي لغته الاصليه الباشتون
Almost all of these words also exist in Turkish with the same meanings. Arabic exports. :D
Nice job ! I too feel urdu and arabic are similar. May Allah SWT allow us to find such relations making our understanding of the Arabic language easier. Cos I think Arabic is amazing.
Ameen 🤲
Most of the words we are also using them. From Malaysia..😊 love this video.👍👍
We Pakistanis love Malaysia and tale pride on its success, there is communication gap between these two brother countries..But still love you.
The 'Iraqi girl is infact very intelligent in the grammar... ✌🏻
InshAllah Taa'la I will learn Arabic fully. Love from Pakistan 😊🇵🇰.
superb...pls share more of arabic vs urdu conversation. Since urdu is mixture of Arabic, Persian, Turkish and Sanskrit please share it with Persian and Turkish speakers too.
We've done Urdu and Turkish, as well as 2 Urdu and Persian videos.
Finally🥳 thanks. I was waiting for this video. I am from Pakistan 🇵🇰 we speak urdu and can read and write in Arabic. Because we read Quran in Arabic. And we find both languages almost the same. Because of the scripts. Also some the words are the same.

@@user-mh7lg1wx7z you are right
Arabic and Urdu almost the same ? What do you say ? They are completely different. Only that both share the same script and single words but nothing more. Not more than that. They even sound completely different. xD:D.
მე მარია it’s the almost same. Scripts and some of the words are the same.

Few things I would like to say here. Upon talking about sahel, Meena mentioned sehl. We also have sehl in urdu as in sehl pasandi/susti. Tanzeem - We also have word for Imaan, itehad, tanzeem (faith, unity and Discipline) so discipline for tanzeem. For organisation (munazamma) in arabic, although we do not have a word we do have munazzam for getting organised. Moreover, aali means high in urdu. So, instead of one word qeemat (price) using aalia as high/valuable could have made Ayesha more closer to the meaning. Great video indeed!
I’m from Iraq but I live in London my family speaks Arabic with an Iraqi accent like me most of my family speaks Farsi I have an Iranian grandma ❤️🇮🇶🇬🇧
When Mina asked if “ghalat” is a noun, I think Ayesha got confused, and understandably so. Ayesha was right the first time she explained it. “Ghalat” means wrong or incorrect, so it is an adjective. “Ghalatee” is the noun, which means mistake or fault.
satoshi2oll Yes you are spot on about my confusion there, thank you for understanding it so well! 😀 I was still thinking there about how I explained 'ghalat' vs. 'ghalati' and then hearing the Arabic versions led to some of my confusion and mix-up with respect to nouns vs. adjectives.
She forgot what a noun is then you saw the look on her face when she realized her mistake lol
@@ayesharashid1586 You are excused.

As an Indian Muslim, we know Hindi, Eng, Urdu & Arabic. We know how to read Arabic and understand to some extent. Love from India🇮🇳
@༼ཆ༽ I said.. Indian Muslims 😁
I m from Northern Pakistan my native language is burushaski and I love Arabic language.
مخارج حروف العراقية مينا قوية وصحيحة. رائع أن لغتها العربية لم تتأثر في الغربة.
اللهجة العراقية تحوي جميع الحروف العربية ما خلا حرف الضاد، ومن قديم كان بعض العرب يقلبون الضاد ظاء ويساوون بينهما بالتلفظ.
@@alial-rabai4125 We also pronounce Za = ض in Urdu
