What I learned from this video: Davin kept checking his base to make sure it was on center, pretty much every time before getting up from the bench. I'll be doing that from now on (as long as I can remember :))
@@joshschneider9766 thanks, yeah, I should have been more specific. There's a style he has of using his pincers to even it out (see 9:57) that I've never seen before. I'm going to integrate that with my "reflexes" as you so succinctly put it :)
Good eye! Yeah, a lot of folks might do this with a paddle (or have their parter paddle), but if the heat is good you can touch the base with those cold tweezers and not crack it.
I don't know about "people", but I like them. It shows that the glasses were handmade. You can see jackmarks on 17thC Venetian goblets. So far no one has complained or refused to buy them because there were signs that they are handmade. Actually, the opposite. I have used paper-wrapped jacks in the past to make small bowls, but not to prevent jack marks.

That should become as reflexive as breathing. Always be on center always be turning evenly always be focused on heat management.

Do people like the tool marks inside that are caused when you lift the rim out? I thought you would use paper wrapped jacks to give a smoother finish.
