If you like big prices it's been horrible, if you like some of the best art we've had, it's great
I've bought more singles this year than the last 2 years combined, nice to be able to buy them for cheap. All the galaries/character rares/illustration/art rares are super nice and affordable.
i totally agree with all the crown zenith stuff, honestly surprising how cheap this set is… so many chases, great pull rates, all around great and fun set…. definitely don’t see this set staying cheap forever so now is a great time to jump on🤑
Yeah zenith is cool! Happy with the gold Arceus I pulled from a mini tin haha but planning on getting both of the figure collections cause I am a sucker for figures and pins lol
Finding out that the English 151 set won't have the Masterball cards has killed it for me. So disappointing 😢
I'd rather not feel punished, im glad we dont have them, reverse holos are enough. I don't want to collect the set 3x over and pay a bunch more money just for the same cards with a different foil pattern.
@@Jboy218 The thing is though you don't HAVE to collect all the master ball reverse holos. What they do though is provide decent value for casual collectors to sell off/trade to far more wealthy collectors and collect more cards they actually want.

Flaaffy trainer gallery is super overlooked, sure it's a trainer gallery but it's an amazing looking card. The chance of pulling it is 1/167. With silver tempest's only getting one small reprint I can see a lot of potential here. The card is meta too so a lot of them get played. Even the god packs in the recent tins didn't carry trainer galleries

I've enjoyed opening SV sets more than SWSH. I actually get cards I love from time to time. There might not be a $300 Giratina, but just look at that Cleffa man.

Interms of english product, i do think its been pretty lackluster. But for japanese they have been killing it. And i tuink prices also reflect that

Great year for me, who just got into the hobby.
I went to Worlds and was able to pick up five of the Yokohama Pika decks thanks to friends that went with me that aren't into the TCG. They were good sports.
I have been looking for a card game to fill my empty time for this year, and I tried Weiss Shwarz but that game feels far too expensive to even try to play, let alone collect.
But then this popped up when I went to anime expo and saw many people opening up the “151” set and I was like, huh maybe I will get back in to Pokémon but who knows
But a month later (present time) I am definitely getting into Pokémon, this 151 set looks beautiful and it has probably my favourite gym leader, Erika.
Would love to see you do a collab with opossum bud. I think he respects you but has criticism and it’d be fun to see you two discuss the dynamic between investing & collecting. I think you’re good at supporting both and while OB has disagreements, I think he realizes you’re a collector at heart. Would be fascinating content.
I got back into the hobby well after paldea evolved and I am loving it. I know Obsidian Flames hasn't had the best reception but I'm still loving the chase for that Charizard alt art.

I just opened a booster box of Obsidian Flames and somehow pulled Charizard full art, Charizard regular EX, Gold Charizard, Ninetails art rare, and the Pidgeot secret art rare.

Crown Zenith is a great set but I got my doubts it will better than 151. We'll see
Who the heck thinks this year has been lack luster?? New generation, beautiful cards, huge nagaba release and more!
I think people are mainly comparing this year to the exceptionally good trainer gallery sets from last year.
A fair comparison would be to the start of SWSH era, and it's definetly much more hype imo!

For real, compare this to Sword and Shield and Rebel Clash it's not even a comparison. Also, I haven't heard 1 person say they like the Trainer Gallery more than art rares, as you can clearly see by the prices.

2023 has been great, cards being cheap is good for when a set releases. It's healthy.
Really kicking myself for not picking up the yunagaba promos they’re all so pricey anymore I thought they would drop at the beginning
Bought all the eeveeloution promos for pretty cheap compared to what they are now got them all graded and got 7 out of the 9 in 10’s

Man, just the full arts...I literally think that Paldea Evolved Marill Full art is the most beautiful Marill card we've seen in history.

SV has been boring for me, i strongly dislike the tera form crowns. I love the Nagaba promos, My wife was in Japan and scored me 10 packs, pulled 2 umbreon! I like the ETB promos, and alt arts that are NOT tera forms. But I'm looking to go back into sets like silver tempest, lost origin etc.
I do prefer the trainer gallery over the gallarian gallery
You're sleeping on the yokohama pika card. Its truly beautiful in person. I seriously doubt it will drop to double digits 🤔 ill reply in 2 years and see if im wrong lol

Pokemons stronger then ever my sales 4 singles are on fire they go as fast as I auction on eBay
I feel like Scarlet and Violet English isn’t just burn out but it has horrible quality control that is keeping a lot of people like myself away from bulk buying packs in hopes for these nice arts because chances are it’s gonna come out centered horribly, damaged, or overall just not in the condition you should even want from cards.
Not only that but SV base and Paldea Evolved and Obsidian Flames all have some decent to good arts in there but they don’t even compare to Crown Zenith let alone Sword and Shield era cards. I can’t say “Miriam or Gardevoir SIR/SAR look as good or better than Espeon VMax Alt, Umbreon VMax Alt, Giratina V, Lugia V Alt, Giratina V Star, Gengar VMax Alt, Leafeon VMax Alt, etc. I haven’t seen a single card yet that has surpassed or made me want to forget about buying SW/SH generation yet not because of value but because of poor quality control and because of over print and because of how lackluster frankly these “chase” cards are.

So I agree with everything you’ve said but this video is a massive fail imo because I don’t believe you mentioned Stamped pokemon center promo cards at all. The Base set Stamped Miraidon should absolutely be on this list and or all of the PC ETB stamped promos in general. Come’on Jake!!

Now (2020 onward) is a great time to collect modern cards. Once they go up in price, wait until those "investors" start taking profit then it's gonna come crashing down and they will be even cheaper than now.
I honestly think a lot of people are in the same boat as me. Because of this Administration my rent, food ,gas everything is gone up except pay. So I don't have the kind of money I did few years back to be investing in stuff.

You literally said you had more fun opening Silver tempest... your silver box got like 6 pretty bad hits and a rainbow compared to like 12 solid hits for paldea including 2 illustration rares, and a gold starter. I just don't get how a box with almost double the hits isnt more fun?? There's a reason why opposum bud made a video about this.

Sorry jake love your vids but I have to disagree..s&v has been awful tbh.the cards are nothing like swsh.the silver borders are a big mistake and s&v cards are literally worth nothing.awful in my opinion.
