Because I already have an Ally, I'll pass at this time. It's not enough of a upgrade to be worth jumping on, especially with the next gen stuff coming down the pipeline. But if you're really wanting to get in and don't have anything like it yet, I can absolutely see going for the X.
same. really wanted the X but 90% of the I play tethered anyway (you could say bad battery life is forcing me to do so too) but I'm waiting for Ally 2!
I got an Ally z1 for 320 last week I wanted the X but could t justify the price just for a battery I only play for an hour or so a night before bed so it’s perfect for me
If you are really into portable gaming, if this is your wheelhouse, then you need 32 gigs of RAM. You just got to have it. The only place to really get it is from China. So be it. I’ve purchased multiple devices shipped from China. It’s mostly a seamless process. If you are not hardcore about this platform then I don’t know why you would even bother. You’d prolly just stick with a steam deck. But if you are hypothetically willing to play “top dollar” for something premium, don’t buy this. You need that RAM. It makes a ridiculous stupid insane difference when it comes to handheld gaming. “Night & day” doesn’t even begin to describe the feeling of getting your hands on 32 gigs of RAM. Not 24. We are talking 32 gigs or bust.
That may be the way it's trending anyway, but I wouldn't say that's inherently true. I can still run pretty much anything on my OG Ally. Especially with a linux distro like Bazzite. While 32gb would be nice, I wouldn't call it mandatory, at least not yet. And for most people there's quite a big gap between $700 and $1100.
I bought the X during Black Friday since I sold my original Ally when I needed the money at the time.
How do you like it?
@ loved it. Loved the fact that I’m not tethered to a power source a lot often like I did when I got the original ally when it first launched

The price it is at now is great but not next gen enough for me to grab one, I’ll be returning the x after I’m done messing about with it
