I believe these electric bikes measure the torque at the wheel, whereas an ICE bike is of course measured at the crank. The difference being that the torque from the crank goes through the transmission with multiple steps of gear reduction, which increases the torque before it gets to the rear wheel. So the actual torque at the wheel is considerably higher than it is at the crank. To find the torque at the wheel of ICE bike, multiply the torque at the crank by the gear ratio of whatever gear you're in, then multiply that by the final drive ratio. If you do the math for let's say a humble sv650, it works out to around 350 ft/lb in first gear
Different category, but I have a RadRunner. It's an e-bike. It's got 20" wheels w/ knobby tires. Mine's got no suspension, but you can lower the tire pressure and smooth it out a little. 22mph legal limit (but can be hacked) and 40 mile range. It's got a rack on the back, I added a front rack too, and added a second headlight and taillight, as well as a deep console for stuff. The lid has a phone holder and a cup holder! Anyway, it was around $1000-1100 and it's a blast. You can even get trailers for pets, babies, or whatever. I take it doesn't the HEB because my bike? Well, whatever fits in my backpack is all I got.
2:48 I said this in the past and I will say it again. Torque alone is not a good figure to predict how a bike will feel, the rpm that it can deliver that torque matters a lot.
My one buddy took his e dirt bike on a ride with us (north east.. rocks, hills, gnarly single track). He bailed, these aren’t ready for prime time yet. Maybe a back dirt road but for an actual trail ride it doesn’t cut it.
I think you need to pick your battles. Long hill climbs would be tough but for the kind of trails we have here, tight windy stuff with some shelves, I think it'll be great. I need to get it out to my trail system to test it.
Gotta try the Altis Sigma. It has a 98v 20kW motor and a 70 mph top speed. Some vloggers claimed they got it higher. Apparently it's torque pulls more than a 450 MX bike and it's less than $6000.

Motorcycles have had over 100 years of engineering and evolution already. Electric ones are essentially brand new technology which hasn’t been around for very long at all. At the moment large capacity and high voltage lithium ion packs are not cheap at all which doesn’t help.
As someone who sold their R3 for a Talaria MX4 to have a dirtbike for the winter season...I gotta say, at the current iteration of EBikes, They're just not it, especially not for how much they cost and how little they offer. It got me through the winter and even 2 snow storms which I definitely wouldn't have done on a gas bike. But I hated it, mines had constant mechanical and electrical problems and needed a lot more maintenance then on a tried and true Japanese sport bike. Soon as weather was a steady 45 degrees I sold it and got a Ninja 400.

And I'm referring to an actual Canadian dealer here. Probably going to just go with the MX5, as the dealer is close and it's a decent bike.

My hobby is wildlife photography, and I often ride FSRs and trails looking for animals, but my bike’s engine always scares off any beasties (although that noise can also be used defensively).
