Hi ... I can get the wired connection OK but it defaults to the Wi-Fi connection every time I turn it or the TV off... any ideas how I can fix this? Thanks.
I used the Cable Matters Micro USB to Ethernet adapter on my 1st gen Firetv 4K stick and it works great with no disconnect problems (Cable Matters Micro USB to Ethernet Adapter Up to 480Mbps for Streaming Sticks). Bought it on Amazon to replace the Amazon Ethernet adapter thats capped at 100MBPS. I get over 400MBPS. With the new adapter. Highly recommend it for early gen sticks.
Thank you so much for this!😁 My husband is not gonna appreciate the 40m ethernet cable cluttering up the house but yay I finally have a stable connection 🤗
Hi... i followed this and it works perfect for my 4k i bought abt a yr ago. Recently i tried to do the same thing again with another 4k max but it seems as if the usb ports and ethernet port on the ugreen hub is not recognised by the new 4kmax stick. If i swap with the older 4k stick it works fine. do u know if the new 4kmax sticks dont support the ugreen hub again ?? thanks
I've purchased the amazon ethernet adapter. I've already got something in one of the ports at that back of the router. Does that need to come out before I add an ethernet cable in one of the others.?
If there is no room to plug the cable in for the Amazon Ethernet adapter then yes or else you could buy a gigabit switch to increase the number of ethernet ports available to you.
Hi Chris, would doing this solve the issue of not being able to access my FireStick due to changing ISPs a while back? Without the remote or wifi access I'm a bit stuck.
Please explain if I have a hard wire connection with a gigabyte adapter and a gigabyte ISP why am I only getting very low speeds. I’ll tel you why because the micro usb can’t handle it. I get way faster speed from my WiFi then the hard wire. The micro usb seems to only go 100mb and my wired is in the 400’s. I want the fire stick to be able to go 1000mb.
The USB socket on a firestick is a Micro USB which is only USB2 and therefore this is why the speed via ethernet is limited is limited, but 100mbps is more than enough to run any app or stream anything on the firestick.
Hi fella, I set up originally via WiFi but now I want to use the Ethernet but every time the fire stick reboots it only connects WiFi it’s driving me mental! Is there a way of choosing Ethernet?
Ethernet should override wifi automatically if it detects an ethernet connection, check your ethernet cable is working ok by plugging something else into it, if that works, then your ethernet adapter may be faulty or not compatible with your Firestick.
If you turn on the hotspot on your phone you can connect your firestick to that, I have found sometimes the mobile phone internet speed can be very erratic and can cause buffering at times.
Hi Chris. Another great video. If I use this lead with a new Fire TV Cube which has a seperate power connection can the USB connector on this lead be used to connect a USB hub so I can have both ethernet and USB devices on my Cube?
The Cube should have a built in ethernet socket that your can use, I haven't tried a usb hub on an OTG cable, I am not sure it can supply enough amp's (depending on what you have plugged into the hub) if you give it a try then I would suggest try a Powered USB Hub.
Mine states connected to ethernet but not connected to the Internet? My Internet works and the ethernet cable works. Any suggestions how I could fix this?
Yes I've replaced my adapter with a ungreen adapter works fine now but still disconnects after a few hours ? Atleast its not every few minutes but any suggestions how to fix this? Can you send me a amazon link to your adapter thanks pal.
@@Jayefc Make sure you are using a Power adapter which can delivery 1 or more amps, also check your network connection that you have plugged the Firestick into with another device to ensure the cable and connection is not faulty.
I'm using my 4k firestick power cable if that's okay ? I'm also using otg cable that's works with my firestick and ethernet but when I plug in a USB drive the ethernet will not work so could be the otg cable. Thanks for the advise 👍
I have tried this with an amazon ethernet adaptor but it doesn't come up with anything to do with wired(connected) once I have connected it all. Am i doing something wrong?
@@cwtek1 Yes it definitely is. I've successfully connected other devices with it. And it says connected to ethernet anyway. But it also says not connected to the internet.
@@Revolver1981 If you can get to ip settings make sure your ip address is set to dynamic, if it still doesn’t work then it’s possible that the power adapter might not be able to power both your firestick and Ethernet, also if you have any other devices connected to your stick or power cable please remove them.
@@cwtek1 It works fine now. All I done was chose the forget network option then reconnected and it was fine. Definitely quicker speeds than the WiFi so that's good.

This needs answered. Ridiculous amazon won't default to ethernet
Yeah for me it does this to
Do you have information about hard wiring the 1st gen fire stick?
I am afraid I do not.

130 feet from the router to the tv ?? that may be your problem

I can only assume it’s not recognised by the new one if it works on the older 4k.

If the issue is a wifi issue then yes it should help.
Hey Chris how to change the DNS if it's conecctwd as you show in the video
i think you need to go into the ip settings i am sure you can change it from there.
Thanks I will use your guidance when my adaptor arrives 🤟

Hi how long would the ethernet cable be? My master switch and modem are in a different room to the TV and fire stick?
The Maximum length is 328ft (100 Meters)
That really was a great help. Almost too easy 👍👍. Many thanks

Are all ethernet cords the same or do I need atleast a cat 5 or 6 to run my firestick?
They will all work with the Firestick.

If, so why?
I have WIFI on my smart phone so wouldn't that be sufficient to only need a firestick?

No the firestick will make the TV smart you just need a spare HDMI pport on the TV.

would be better to follow if we could see the whole thing, maybe you could add a diagram at the end.
All the connections are shown in the video, sorry the leads are quite long so i would have to zoom out a long way.
My Fire TV has an Ethernet port. I can connect the cable, but when trying to configure it, I get prompted with questions I cannot answer. Any clues?

So basically the Firestick recognizes data from the adapter on the USB connection?
Yes when you have an ethernet cable connected

Ok what if your tv or receiver has an ethernet outlet, and the stick doesn’t recognize wired connection???
