    Hey Thomas....im a RN....and I can say hell yes u can drink too much water not only one a fast but in general!! I see people doing keto on here always going on about drinking copious amounts of water. This is very dangerous. When we drink too much water our electrolytes are diluted and copious fluid and electrolyte are lost in the urine. I had a 35yr old patient going to town on water and chewing ice. She developed a condition called "diabetes insipidous" this condition has nothing to do with blood sugars. This happens when someone consumes water too the point of intoxication...causes increased intracranial pressure. Her electrolytes fell causing heart complications and loss of blood pressure and she passed away from this. People do not understand the dangers of consuming too much water....ive only seen u talk about this and Dr berg!! But people should be taught about water intoxication...u must include electrolyte replacement...or water can have desasterous consequences...

      Glad I read your comment. I've always had an insatiable thirst as well as high BP and on 3 different meds. I wonder if perhaps that's been my problem all along. I mean even when I was a professional athlete I had high BP..I had it since I was 13 and actually remember one dr suggesting that but was never again checked on.

      Ugh I drink a ridiculous amount of water, glad to be reading this and learning maybe I should cut back sometimes, cuz there are times I drink a lot of water and then almost feel a little intoxicated for a bit.

      Ppl who are anemic eat ice? Its called pica! Im wondering what all u underlying issues she had besides drinking water. They could have spent that in s way to look like water killed her. Just saying

    • @justjen3216
      @justjen3216 3 года назад +2

      @@valjean2036 yes pica is usually related to anemia ...people crave both ice and other non nutritious things. Some people even eat dirt or soap ect...ive had pica many times and if craved and ate a ton of ice and i ate the heck out of tomatoes with salt and I had severe anemia as well. This patient started off enjoying the pellet ice and water but once her electrolytes were out of balance she began overflowing her bedpan and was so thirsty she kept drinking and in doing so her electrolytes were so diluted and she had lost so much sodium ect...i took carenof this lady many times ...on the night on question I was not her nurse but in the morning I was about to leave my job and this patient rolled up on her wheel chair n told me she felt very weak and dizzy. I Checked her BP it was 60/30...i called her doctor n told her in suapected diabetes insipidous because they patients cna explained that she was drinking a ton of water and over flowing her bedpan....the poor woman died when she got to hospital...water intoxication is real...rarely talked about

      Body type activity etc vary greatly & thus makes that answer vary greatly- you really don't want an answer to that via the internet, if you don't have a family Dr you can trust & are not good at reading scientific papers then TRUST your body... it will tell you when it needs something & exercise some discipline: is your urge for water a substitute for hunger & not eating? Is it because you are bored & want to relax for a minute while you are on the computer or working?
      If you are doing physical activity during a fast then you need to be able to KNOW your body chem & what you are deficient in, so you may have to get tested... generally if you take electrolytes, Himalayan salt PLUS a good organic natural sea salt then you will probably be ok with three large glasses of water a day so 3 Quarts max... if you are NOT active physically then reduce that & listen to your body... this recommendation is without knowing your body type age current health so if you are NOT average build age height please see a Dr or read up on the research... Avg Age 30, Avg weight 180lbs Avg Height 5-10... so if you deviate from those then adjust as your body requires it & just be aware of whether your body needs something or is it your mind/psyche/emotions/ etc etc

      Sugar IS A POISON... you must stop thinking you are on a "diet" & begin to EMBRACE your way of LIFE- GOD intended you to EAT ONE MEAL A DAY... make sure you get all of your nutrition, but just as the earth has 4 seasons, & your life has 4 seasons... each day has 4 seasons... in fall the harvest comes in & there is plenty... fall is ONE Season... the other Three seasons you prepare for that bounty... IOW: You eat 1 meal a day & the other 3 seasons of your day you do not eat- you prepare for that season of eating & you use the food you ate in activity & you rest to repair & replenish! So, that's my advice.

      All the good works in the world will get no one into heaven. The problem is much more dire than “praying” or “having faith”. You are right that there is only one way, and He said “I AM.. the Way, The Truth, and The Life. No one comes but by Me.” We ALL have earned hell already- you cannot overturn your death sentence by trying to bribe The Just Judge with pocket change when you are guilty of murder. Repent… and trust in Jesus Christ as you would trust a parachute jumping out of a plane in mid flight. He paid the ultimate price so that you may live with The Creator of the Universe eternally, because this life is more than good health and fitness.

Most people are usually thirsty when they think they are hungry. It's really hard too hurt your body by drinking too much water because our bodys need water for so many different things. drink a gallon a day and you'll be fine.

    Had hyponatremia twice now, just from drinking water cos, hey! Bored/hungry. BIG MISTAKE! We as people get into the habit of chugging water, thinking it's harmless. For me it's been the most difficult habit to break. I seem particularly prone to losing electrolytes for some reason. On keto you really don't need that much water. To people who say: nothing can survive without water, I reply: nothing can survive without electrolytes!

    Well, it's not really fasting if you drink water.. that's water dieting! 😉 True "fasting" means nada, nothing, nope, no water/food. Many unique processes activated by hormones - usually overruled by insulin - start up and protect, cleanse, and provide energy and water from fat tissue. The process is utterly amazing. The "dry fasting" has many decades of research backing it up. We just don't know about it because it was mostly from the old Soviet Union. But it is safe. I personally have finished a couple of 7-day dry fast. The benefits are incredible! However, It is a serious endeavor not to be taken lightly. The initial one is always the hardest. The succeeding are much easier as you know what to expect. I did periodic water fast for many, many years and yes there is some benefit to their use, but a dry fast is like a Ferrari compared to a go-cart. There is no way for me to describe all the benefits, so I'll just say research for yourselves!
