At this level you can experience sudden dips and ups ....and maybe he just couldn't give his best in this race
PS: I am sure he would given his all in training just like everybody else for the olympics

I've seen so many variations on launch positioning with backstroke.
I just look at Phelps and try to do what he does. But why so many different styles?
