Cave In -Heavy Pendulum is probably my favourite of the year so far,closely followed by Michael Romeo -War Of The Worlds 2.Both big surprises for me actually cos the only Cave In I'd heard before was an EP which was pretty light and poppy,but this new album surprised me how heavy and sludgy it is...Same goes for the Michael Romeo record,which would fit in the Power/Prog category which I'm not usually a big fan of,but this album kicks all kinds of ass!
Wow a lot of music has been released and were only halfway through the year. I applaud you for being able to listen to it all. The new Voivod was fantastic. A soundtrack to our dystopian apocalypse.
Never heard of Rolo Tomassi before and wasnt expecting such a beautiful voice on that first track, wow. I'm only halfway through the album and can tell im gonna revisit it more than once. Gonna check out your full review, i missed it earlier this year. 😁🤘🏻
This year so far, has been packed a lot, so its a little hard to pick 10 albums that i truly think are AOTY Worthy, well...except for one which i will get to later, but for now, my top 10 Metal Albums of 2022 so far is as follow 10. J.O.I.N.T. By Undead Corporation (this one is purely because it has a song with a Bongo Drum in it, which automatically makes it qualify for the list) 9. The War to End All War By Sabaton 8. Rashomon By Ibaraki 7. The Agony & Ecstasies of Watain By Watain 6. Oh What The Future Holds By Fit For an Autopsy 5. Synchro Anarchy by Voivod 4. Resentment is Always Seismic - A Final Throw of Throes by Napalm Death 3. Disharmonium- Undreamable Abysses by Blut Aus Nord 2. Ecstasies of Never Ending Night by Devil Master And finally, number 1 with probably the longest name i have ever seen for an album MOGARI - Shi E Fukeru Omoi Wa Rikujoku Sura Kurai, Kanata No Sei Wo Aisuru Tame Ni Inochi Wo Tataeru. by Imperial Circus Dead Decadence, long name aside, i really can't recommend this album enough to everyone, the band's lead vocalist is an absolute unit of a human being for doing most of the work on this album, the male clean vocals and screams, which the screams are beyond this world especially the pig squeals, to composing it, to even making the album cover for it, there is not a single moment on this record that i don't like, and while its definitely really long, like 72 minutes, it never gets boring to listen to it, i definitely recommend checking it out, you might enjoy it
Its hard enough to pick favorite albums when you listen to as much music as us nerds do, but to put them in order is tedious and obsolete when you have those nifty tier rating sites out there. I thought it was alright! Kreator found a formula that works and has done it the last few albums. Nothing wrong with it but nothing that got me super excited
