Do you need any type of sealer for the edge coat so the color does not transfer?

I have the same wallet in really good condition, but tha canvas is hard and stiff. Do you have a tip on how to soften the canvas?

there isn't much that can be done for that. You can try using armor all protectant to hopefully keep it from cracking
