Materials: 1 (S/M) or 2(L/XL and up) skeins Lion Brand Yarn Ice Cream Big Scoop Hook size: US-H(5mm)Stitch markersScissorsMeasuring tapeDarning needle
Gauge: 6×3 rectangle: Ch 27 Complete rows 1-5 of pattern
Finished Shrug Measurements: XS/S/M - Top to bottom: 32” End of sleeve to end of sleeve: 42” L/XL/2XL - Top to bottom: 38” End of sleeve to end of sleeve: 50” 3XL/4XL - Top to bottom: 38” End of sleeve to end of sleeve: 52”
Pattern Notes: -Rows 2-5 make one ‘repeat’ of the stitch pattern-At the end of each row you will count by groups instead of stitches (i.e. 40 groups) amount of groups will remain the same throughout the pattern-Final measurements may fluctuate between 2-3” because of the stretch in yarn and stitch pattern-Once rectangle is made, you will sc across the longest sides of the rectangle (not the shorter sides), fold it in half, seam the arm holes and add the finishing border
Abbreviations (US Terms):sl st - slip stitchsk - skipsp - spacelp - loopch - chaindc - double crochetRS - right sideWS - wrong side* * - repeat any pattern between asterisks
How to customize:-This stitch pattern requires multiples of 4 plus 3 in the starting chain-The beginning chain will determine the overall width of the shrug from end of sleeve to end of sleeve. If you would like longer sleeves, make a longer chain.-The amount of rows completed will determine the length from shoulder to bottom. If you would like the shrug to be longer, add more repeats of rows 2-5. If you would like it shorter, remove repeats of rows 2-5.
    Pattern:
Row 1: ch 163(195)(203) (dc, ch 3, dc) in 5th ch from hook. *sk next 3 ch, (dc, ch 3, dc) in next ch; repeat from * across to within last 2 ch, sk next ch, dc in last ch, turn. (40 groups)(48 groups)(50 groups) RS
Row 2: ch 3, (4 dc, ch 1) in each ch 3 lp across to within last ch 3 lp, 4 dc in last ch 3 lp, dc in top of turning ch, turn. WS
Row 3: ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 1) dc in first dc, (dc, ch 3, dc) in each ch 1 sp across to last ch 1 sp, sk next 4 dc, (dc, ch 1, dc) in 3rd ch of turning ch, turn.
Row 4: ch 3, 2 dc in next ch 1 sp, ch 1 (4 dc, ch 1) in each ch 3 lp across to turning ch, 2 dc in ch 1 sp of turning ch, dc in 3rd ch of turning ch, turn.
Row 5: ch 3 (dc, ch 3, dc) in each ch 1 sp across to last ch 1 sp, sk next 2 dc, dc in 3rd ch of turning ch, turn.
    Repeat ‘rows 2-5’ for pattern
    (rows 2-5 = 1 repeat)
    XS/S/M: 15 repeats
    L/XL/2XL/3XL/4XL: 17 repeats
Border around rectangle:With right side facing up, attach yarn to right corner, ch 1, 2sc into ch sp, 1 sc into next st across the length of the rectangle. Sl st, tie off. Rotate rectangle clockwise, attach yarn to top right corner, ch 1 2sc into ch sp, 1sc into next st across the length of the rectangle. Sl st, tie off and weave in ends. Arrows represent where to stitch.
Armholes:With wrong side facing down, fold rectangle in half so wrong side is facing out. Measure desired arm hole length (i.e. 7”) beginning at the folded edge continuing downward, place stitch marker just below to mark where the opening of arm hole will end.
Begin slip stitching from bottom corners upward toward the stitch marker, weave in ends, leaving arm hole open. Arrows represent where to begin stitching.
    Suggested Armhole Measurements:
    XS/S/M: 7”
    L/XL/2XL/3XL/4XL: 8”
Neckline Border:To create shrug shape, with the opening towards you(folded side furthest from you), pull top and bottom panels apart. This will create somewhat of a diamond shape (pictured below) and creating points on each side where the arm holes have been sewn. Line below represents the bottom middle of shrug. With wrong side still facing outward, attach yarn to bottom middle, hdc around the neckline/border. For sizes L and up, after you finish the first row, sl st to the top of the ch, then ch 2 and hdc around the border for one more row. Sl st at the end, weave in your ends.

Hi there! For the Shine Your Light shrug I used Lion Brand Yarns "Big Scoop Ice Cream" yarn. It is a "light" weight or weight 3 yarn! I hope this helps! 🧶♥

Hi there! Thanks so much for watching! I made the hook handle with clay and actually have a tutorial for it here: ruclips.net/video/Obn4Mc9Psa0/видео.htmlsi=sHY6-c_8P2AjeSvU if that link doesn't work for some reason you can search "Standing crochet hook handle tutorial" and it should pop up! The hook itself is a Susan Bates hook and you can purchase them here: amzn.to/3PVy1R8
      😊🧶♥
