  • After nearly three decades in the Seattle area and some two years after stepping down as CEO of Seattle-based Amazon, Jeff Bezos is leaving the Pacific Northwest for Miami, he announced Thursday on Instagram. The world’s third richest person has purchased two homes on Indian Creek, Miami-Dade County’s luxury island community, in the past five months, snapping up a $68 million mansion in an off-market transaction in June and a $79 million pad right next door in October.
    Indian Creek is a 294-acre man-made barrier island with just 41 homes all on one road, Indian Creek Island Road. The population was last tallied at a total of just 84 people, which includes a host of high-profile residents and billionaire landowners. What is so attractive about this area of luxury real estate?
    Forbes wealth reporters Phoebe Liu and Giacomo Tognini meet on ‘Forbes Talks’ to break down the migration of the uber-rich to this secluded Miami island.

    Didn't these same billionaires tell us we had to buy an electric car we couldn't afford or climate change would raise sea levels making Florida uninhabitable?

    Washington State also has an estate tax that can reach 20%. Florida has no estate tax. That's way bigger than avoiding a 7% Washington State capital gain tax.

    • @adrees

      Isn't the normal 0,15,20% dividend tax at the federal level? Like doesn't he have to pay that in Florida anyway to the Fed government?

    • @financialconnectioninc
      @financialconnectioninc 3 месяца назад +1

      @@adrees Most states with an income tax levy a capital gains tax as well. Florida has no estate tax, no personal income tax and no personal capital gains taxation. Washington has two of those. They don't have a personal income tax, but for someone like Bezos, that would not likely apply to much of his income.

    Imagine where humanity could be if we weren’t manipulated by those who will do anything to maintain their wealth, including holding humanity back.

    • @marcusthatsme
      @marcusthatsme 3 месяца назад

      That doesn't even make sense. Take Musk, he's trying to push humanity forward but the government is holding him back. Or are you saying that these people should just give away all their money so they can't invest in projects that push humanity forward, like Bill Gates investing in new nuclear technologies, or Musk investing in electric cars, or Bezos (blah) investing in reusable rockets like Musk. If anyone is holding humanity back its the various governments of the world more focused on themselves then working together towards common goals and peace.

  • @marcusthatsme
    @marcusthatsme 3 месяца назад +1

    "Having so much money" is relative. I'd like to see these people not take any tax deductions because it really shouldn't matter since its relative to how much they make. I take as many tax deductions as I can and I'm not rich, because that's what you do to SAVE as much money as you can from going to the government, when the government is double taxing you on both what you make then again when you buy something, then sending that overseas or spending it on pork projects, or giving it away to those that don't want to work. If I was rich, I'd still be trying to pay as little tax as legally possible. Now if he was doing something illegal, that would be different, but he isn't, so no story apart from projecting your own poor me story on everyone.
    And whole, we don't know who owns what, it's called PRIVACY and if you were extremely wealthy you'd want that as well. Heck even people who aren't wealthy like their privacy.
    I'm not sure what the point of this video was, am I suppose to hate rich people? Because I don't hate people for being successful. Am I suppose to feel jealous? What was the point... It was basically full of completely obvious points.

      They are just using "news" words to describe that it is a secured compound for those that can afford to live there. There is one drawbridge that connects the island to Surfside, Florida that is guarded by a police checkpoint. The waters are also patrolled around the island. It's just an extremely secure, private island for those that really want some privacy and the ability to mingle with those at their level of success.
