One of the most captivating guitar songs I’ve ever heard. The interplay between John and George is mind blowing. Then adding Ringo’s mastery on drums - beyond words how good a song this is. The Beatles were so tight as a band, especially in this middle period. Thanks for breaking this all down for us Mike!

Couldn't have agreed more one of the few songs you can hear John's guitar playing described by Guitar Player as Scotty Moore like tone fat and round yet ringing arpeggios against Harrison's squawky fuzzed out lead lines. Nevermind the vocals: Ringo 's intuitive and innovative drumming is essential and often overlooked . This sing is the basis of those posers who call themselves Oasis yuck . Basically this one song wipes out whatever those over glorified and overrated delitants ever did period

It was their BEST Album The English Version . Just think if Rain and Paperback Writer were also on it. They were the Only Group to NOT put their Singles on Their albums mind blowing . Yes the Casino Guitars and Georges SG were recorded in spectacular fashion. Of course also Ringo's drums. Not a filler song on this album

@@MPfrance Your opinion is not humble. Your guitar playing is outstanding. And you do very well on the Bass , Drums and vocals. All my Guitar playing friends and myself think in this order. Rubber Soul, Revolver and Let it Be ( without Spector overdubs ) were the Beatles at their best. Also Help ( British version ) and a bout half of the White Album . Those were Guitar, Bass and Drum driven albums. Rain (Ringos best drumming) . Paperback Writer are also awesome Guitar songs from that 1965-1966 magical period for the Worlds Greatest Rock Band of all time. Its funny and you seem to agree Sgt.P is like on the bottom of our lists of their albums. It just seems dated to me unlike a lot of the other stuff. Happy New Year Mike. Keep cranking out your great videos

    • @MusicTopTen

@@MPfrance Thank you Mike for all you do. Longtime subscriber here. I find it interesting that Revolver is now considered to be the better album, when Sgt. Peppers was considered The Beatles’ masterpiece at the time. Even though Sgt. Peppers is less guitar driven, its influence is also much wider in my view. For example, Sting and Pink Floyd fastidiously studied Sgt. Peppers to develop their songwriting chops. I think Revolver’s psychedelic sounds seemed more dated by comparison.

Superb work Mike. Revolver was such a transitional album for the Beatles and the world. The songs were markedly different from what people came to anticipate from the mop tops. I was 4 years old in 1966 and even at that age I can recall listening to “I Want to Hold Your Hand” and “She Loves You” from TV and AM radio. My parents even bought me a Meet the Beatles album when I was 4. As I got older I acquired all their albums and Revolver was definitely different from those before. She Said She Said was never a song I respected for its great compositional aspects. Your videos open up a whole new world and appreciation for how unique and groundbreakingly outstanding the Beatles were in 1966. After all, those were only a few short years past the early doo-wop R&R pop songs. Both John’s and George’s guitar compositions within this song to me were remarkable. And you brought this forth for us. Thank you for what you do!

I think it's really interesting that some 60 years later we're still analyzing the music of the Beatles. Evidently they've made quite an impression on of of us musicians, learning all the "tricks of their trade" and the genius minds of John & Paul. My favorite years were from 1965 till 66, the more edgy hard rock genre, or for what it was in 1966. Anyway that would be Rubber Soul and Revolver albums. Still play along and listen to these today.

Rand - Here's my cut n' pasted reply to your question:
It takes the better part of two weeks for me to do one of these lessons on just the guitar parts.
Research, figuring out, deciphering, memorizing, videotaping the lesson materials, recording audio, editing video & audio, creating chord blocks in PhotoShop, mastering, bouncing.wav files, writing out the chart & tabs, inserting video clips, bouncing to mp4., uploading to RUclips (the upload alone takes 6 hours) etc. etc. etc. I do all this by myself. I'm a guitarist. I teach guitar. I do play bass. But to also teach the bass as accurately as I do the guitar parts would add another two or three days of work and make the videos 30 minutes long.
Most viewers don't even watch the entire video. A RUclips clip can earn 1 - 3 cents per ad view - but EVERYBODY skips past the ads and that GREATLY decreases the revenue potential. So, with a wife and son to feed, it's not even cost effective for what I'm doing now.
I used to NOT include the bass (video) in my lessons but I do now include it for the student to (at least) see how it was done.
In RUclips, you can slow the video down to half-speed and perhaps figure the bass part out by yourself. That's how old guys like me learned how to play songs. By slowing down the records to half-speed.
      Hope you understand.

Great lesson on a superbly underrated song by John and the boys.
Any chance you could do a video some of the Beatles' Cavern Club / Live at BBC?
The song I'm thinking of is Some Other Guy. George Harrison's part on that is kinda cool.
John's part is hard to hear in the BBC mix, but it's more audible in the Cavern club outtakes.
Kansas City, Hey Hey Hey Hey also could use a lesson on some of the subtlties from George.
Also, Besame Mucho from their EMI demo on Beatles Anthology 1 would be cool to see lessons on.
And the outtake of And Your Bird Can Sing.
All of the above have some covers on YT, but few if any good "lessons".
