      @@pedroburja on some solenoid valves, filter is separate so you can see the spool valve moving back and forth, but on others that filter is located on the valve, hearing the ticking sound would be enough to say that valve is working.

    • @AutomotiveDiagnosis
      @AutomotiveDiagnosis  Год назад +2

      It's better to connect in a proper polarity. although reverse order on a solenoid that does not have any controller inside will not fry it.

    i did all the tests which the VVT solenoid passed but was still bad!

    • @Franklinveterinarycenter1of4
      @Franklinveterinarycenter1of4 10 дней назад

      test the solenoid VVT short to ground....one lead of volt meter on lead and another on the ground (VVT outer shield) and see what the resistance is. If low resistance, then the VVT is shorted to ground yet still reads normal with "internal leads resistance test" and the energized "clicking test".

    That way of checking the actuator with a 12 volt battery is wrong...I did this and both of my actuators have passed away, my car runs like crap now. They are feed from the ECU with a lower tension around 8 volt so connecting them directly to a 12 volt source will cook them up

      This method is recommended in many workshop manuals and it shouldn’t make any problems if it’s performed correctly and in a very short time. Although this video is general and doesn’t refer to any specific car, so for any specific car workshop manual must be checked for the specifications and relevant repair procedures.
