- This 1974 Chevrolet promotional film, titled " Selling Sport Lines ", was sent to the Chevrolet car dealerships to be used as an in-house Sales and customer training film. This film highlights technical aspects and features of the new model year. Models shown include Corvette, Vega GT, Nova SS, Chevelle Laguna S3, Camaro LT and Z28. Accessories and Options Highlighted include, Performance Suspensions, Stabilizer bars, 4 Speed manual transmissions, Bucket and swivel seats, Rally Wheels, Wide low-profile tires. This film uses Ford Mustangs as a comparison. The salesman calls it a "Top-of-the-Line Pinto". If you look up a different film I posted, titled "1974 Chevy Selling Monte Carlo ", you can see a rare glimpse of the film cartridge viewer that was used at the dealership where the customers and personnel were to view these films. The machine was made by Technicolor and called the " Chevrolet Mini Theater System "
This film came from my personal collection. This film was not downloaded from any website and is not reused content. This restoration is my work. The restoration process started with removing the super8 film from the Technicolor Cartridge. After removal the film was cleaned, repaired, and spooled onto a standard film reel. This film had many scratches and dust marks along with severe color fade. The scanning to digital process and basic color correction was performed on the Lasergraphics Scanstation motion picture film scanner system in 2k resolution. Excess film grain noise was removed and the images upscaled to 4K resolution utilizing Topaz AI software. Then in 4K, extensive color restoration was performed in Davinci Resolve. Scratches and dust marks along with advanced noise removal was performed using NeatVideo. Then a second and final color restoration and image stabilization, was performed in DaVinci Resolve. Finally, the film was downscaled back to 2k for uploading to RUclips. As I work on these films, I try to improve the process as I go along.
Prospective Chevrolet Buyer: "So why can't I get a sporty version of a 1974 Monte Carlo?"
Chevrolet salesman: "The Laguna S3 is close enough! You spoiled brat, you ought to just be happy that we have five varieties of sporty cars! Ford barely has one right now!"
The front of the Chevelle looks to me, like it was made to look like a big Mustang II - but still cool.
hi I sure wish this was captioned so I could injoy this video as I grew up with these car's and owned some of them well goodnight :-)
I think RUclips may have that option
@@theemulsionalchemist5688 hi and thank you for you're reply and I know you tube has caption option most the time but not always something don't have caption and sometimes the you tube channel owner didn't think to turn on the caption on there system and other time's you have to wait and come back later for you tube to have the caption working well the Emulsion Alchemist and thank you and you have a very goodnight and a very good week :-)
Pinto based Mustang
"sort of a top of the line Pinto"
No truer shade has ever been thrown.
those pinto mustangs were a joke. don't get me wrong as I loved the early 70s mustangs.
@@theemulsionalchemist5688 The best use I've ever seen for a Mustang II was taking a wrecked one to upgrade a Pinto. It's still a turd, just not the one people are expecting.
Bottom line is: Chevrolet was smart to stay the course. Ford was stupid to put all their legs in one casket. Contrary to their motto---Ford did NOT have a better idea!
I've seen the announcer on sitcoms
these films make me laugh; some are about as funny as Good Times
Chevelle looks like a giant mustang ii...lol
And at the end of the day, the Mustang II became a huge hit, thoroughly spanking the Camaro in sales. Lurking behind was the Celica and today Toyota outsells GM on their own turf...
that's funny, so many people don't realize they are sister companies now.
Pinto based Mustang = Pintang
I think the pinto out handled the mustang.
