I love how you can see the incremental changes in the shaft perfectly with Matty's numbers. I'm sure Fujikura will be more than pleased with this test as it shows off the exact differences they were after in these shafts. Don't apologize for nerdy!!!! That's why most of us are here.
Watching Matt hit a shot 347 yards and not even "trying" makes me want to hate the guy, but these two are just so likeable. Just ordered my Ventus blue with Velocore so I can be like Matt. Thank you guys for the content!!
Most educational and informative golf channel by far. Fascinating to see the interplay between shaft and head options and impact on results. Bottom line, always get fit for clubs.
I've used the Blue since it came out. I have a high swing speed and even then it holds up to the test. It does indeed resist twisting. Such a great shaft that kicks consistently. I really want try the black out.
I play the Blue 7x in my Callaway Epic Flash SZ Triple Diamond. So Stable and feels amazing! Best shaft I have ever used. I’ve always used aftermarket shafts (tinkerer) and have finally found a winner! Great content guys!
Got my first fitting today, because of following your channel. Was fitted for the ventus blue, and mavrik sub zero! Cant wait for the build completion! Spoke highly about your channel with my fitter today! Keep up the good work and thanks for the info that encouraged me to get this game changing equipment venture.
Picked my blue up last week and paired it with my EPIC flash SZ and added 20 yards. Literally smashing it over 300 and 75% FIR. I can shape the ball off the tee much better. Worth the 💰
Was fitted today and the best setup for me was the TM Sim 9 degree with the Fujikura Ventus Blue w/ Velocore Stiff, literally cant wait till shows up, the color combinations with everything blue is going to be killer being that blue is my favorite color just like Ian! You guys rock, keep it up!
I'm around that swing speed too and looking to buy the Sim Max. Did you try the blue or black Ventus? If so, what were the differences that made you choose the red one?
Just a thought, I think the sound difference might be the stiffer shaft does not absorb the energy like a softer shaft would. So the energy stays in the head, for a faster swinger it would make since. A slower swinger would need the energy "rebound" from the softer shaft kick. I may be way off but that makes since in my head. Great video and interesting results.
I’m glad you guys did a video on this I have been interested in this shaft as soon as it came out my problem is I lm not 100 percent sure which one to get.
Why do we watch you ask, well I watch to maintain the energy Mr. Fraser. I watch so I learn what the bar of a fitting experience should be about, yes your nailing it and setting it TXG. Original sim max with ventus blue 7s still gets me 300 carry. Haven't had any of the new drivers or shaft combo's get me those numbers. Best head/shaft combo I've used, using the Srixon Z-star diamond ball.
Hey, you guys should repeat this Ventus trial but with fairway woods.... I'd be very interested in seeing if the red becomes more of an option for ole Matty!
Great job gentlemen! Love this stuff and this channel. You said nerdy, well, I am a golf nerd, lol. Bought custom Cobra SZ with ventus blue velocore. Doesn't seem compatible with big head. Took the full length ventus blue shaft and put it in my TaylorMade mini driver. Absolutely outstanding performance in all categories. Shocking how perfect they are together. You can feel the shaft working all the way through impact with a nice wip giving awesome controlled distance.
Good afternoon, I currently play a TSI2 driver My swing speed is 98 miles an hour The shaft in my driver is the Tensei Blue AV SFW 55 gram stiff. Currently when I swing my driver, I am UNABLE to FEEL the head load in the shaft. I am looking for a shaft that would help me have a better feeling of the head loading. I have done extensive research on graphite design shafts, but not any other manufacture, however, I am open to any other manufacturers that you suggest.
As a sound person, (not an acoustic engineer but), my best guess as to why a stiffer shaft provides a higher frequency is because under load, the denser, more solid shaft will have higher tension on the strands of carbon fibre and thus resonate more, at a higher frequency (higher tension = higher frequency, like a guitar string). I could be completely wrong but hey, it's interesting. *EDIT* In addition, the more solid and hard an object, the less it will absorb reflections (hit a drumstick on on a wooden table vs on a rubber pad, wooden table makes a click, whereas the pad makes a thud)
Seeing a lot of Ventus Red graphite shafts in Taylormade Irons. How do you feel Ventus Red shafts stiff irons shafts are for Irons. Haven't seen much around on Fuji Ventus irons shafts. Many thanks
Have you guys ever thought about doing a video about fitting someone with extreme specifications? I am extremely short and need clubs that are -2.5 inches and 3* flat. This causes swingweight and flex issues and I would love to hear any stories about anyone you have fit with extreme specifications or how you would handle such a situation and/or what tools or tricks you would us (lead powder, hot melt, heavier heads, etc). I think it would make a great video for a lot of people who don' fit the "average"specs of the shelf. Keep up the great content! Love the channel.
How did you determine 2.5" short was needed? Even short people can play standard length clubs. Quick example. Let's say your longest club your driver, is 46" standard. So you're saying you need a 43.5" driver. So if you can hit a 43.5" driver just fine, how do you all of a sudden struggle hitting a standard 37" 7 iron which is 7 inches shorter than the driver your hitting ok? To further the analogy. Let's say your standard 4 iron is 39.5" long so that would make your "fitted" 4 iron 37". How is it that you couldn't hit a standard 37" 7 iron but now you can magically hit a 37" 4 iron? Hopefully that makes sense. Not trying to come across mean just showing that length of shaft isn't likely going to make an improvement. I think your best bet is use lie angle to dial in flight and if you really want a shorter club don't go shorter than -1" so swingweight and club balance isn't affected as severely.
Kourtney you are wrong completely. I play one in shorter in woods and .5 shorter in all irons also 3 flat. Better control and distance with better location of strike. Plain truth is that club now are being manufactured and marketed for distance. That is why you see a steady increase in club length in woods and irons over the past 12-15 years. Average length of a drive on pga tour is 44.5. Average length on lpga is 43.25.
@@danmatthews5364 you completely missed the point. So let's say a standard 6 iron is 37.5" long, if you play yours .5" short your 6 iron is now 37", which is the exact same length as a standard 7 iron. So you're gonna try and tell me you are incapable of hitting a 37" 7 iron but now you can all of a sudden hit an identical length 37" 6 iron?? If the clubs are the same length, and length is the problem, how can you not hit the 7 iron the exact same as the 6?
@@kourt2469 Your point is quite flawed. I think most golfers would agree that they have a harder time controlling strike as the length of club increases. Take a standard length player, and give them clubs that are an inch longer, do you still think your point stands just because the standard length player's 7 iron is now the same length as their usual 5 iron? It's not a matter of CurdBros and Dan Matthews being incapable of hitting a 37" 7 iron. It's a case of them not being able to control strike to the same level that a player who is genuinely the right height to be playing standard length clubs can. Plus if you put them in standard length, they'd likely need their irons to be bent even flatter than they already are, which brings its own issues into play. Golf isn't a one size fits all game. This is literally the whole point of custom fitting.
@@frogginbullfish8777 not flawed at all. And no not all golfers benefit from shorter clubs. A shorter club doesn't mean an easier club to hit solid. I have fit plenty of players who are short and actually hit longer clubs better than shorter clubs. And yes if you give a player a club that's the same length as a club they already hit well, they will also hit that club well. Obviously at extreme lengths it gets more difficult. But an extremely short club would also be difficult to hit.
Another great test well done.......I have an idea for a test, please test the new tensi orange pro HYBRID shaft, will it make a hybrid playable for me?
Another great video as I have asked before being a bit nerdy myself could you leave the numbers on for a bit longer to digest what you are saying about the strike point etc 👍👍
Hey guys, would you do a video showing the ventus range being hit with regular, stiff and x stiff flex to show the differences in swing, ball flight etc with flex being the only changing variable? cheers @TXG
I love both channels. Can we all agree that the truth behind what shafts actually do is somewhere in the middle of what the two sides are saying? I’m a club fitter and there’s plenty of people it makes no difference for but clearly there are golfers out there getting benefits as well
Great stuff as usual guys, particularly the great off the shelf results with the blue and the adjustment with the weights for the black. It all helps when iron Byron Matty is the tester as well.....need you guys here in the Midlands of England!
Hi Ian, one question. I’m always baffled as to why Matt’s efficiency is only 1.42 when he is hitting it dead center (5:05). Is that a GC issue? The smash factor seems to be very low for such good strikes.
Here's an interesting analogy. I see the Butt section as the rear end of a sports car, the mid section is the engine and the tip is the transmission. ScottyD
Its sucks you never re-visited the ts4, I got fitted into one and absolutely love it. I think it would fit Matt really well if you guys played around with shafts a little
Beau Hossler is hitting Ventus Red, but he never did play a super stiff driver shaft. He gamed speeder evo 1 in the non tour spec design before this change.
I’ve not had a Ventus fitting but would love one but no matter which one is correct for me I would want it in the red colour. Would they do a blue shaft but in red?
Guys please help! Love your content but I’m in a dilemma. I’m a 10 handicapper who swings driver smoothly at 90mph. I game a M6 Driver at 10.5 degree loft with stock shaft, regular flex 1 inch shorter than standard. My launch angle is 16.1 degrees with spin rate of 2300 carrying at 215 plus with range balls. Just bought a Sim 2 Max but don’t know if I should have got Kuro Kage Silver 60 Regular Flex Shaft or the Fujikara Ventura Blue 5 Regular Flex?! Your opinion would mean a hell of a lot. Thanks in advance 🙏🏻
Hi guys!! How about a comparison between Ventus Black, Diamana DF, Tensei CK Pro White and EvenFlow White T1100? It would be very interesting!! Thanks!!
The Fujikura Folds of Honor shaft fits me so well, but are difficult to find in the aftermarket. What are some similar shaft options to keep a lookout for?
Would you guys please do a comparison between Ventus velocore Blue/red vs HZRDUS RDX Blue/Black?! I’m stuck between Ventus or HZRDUS RDX, the only stock shaft available is the RDX black but I’m not sure that’s the shaft I really should be looking at. Currently using a older M3 with a project x red handcrafted 6.0 62G 3.2 Mid spin shaft. In terms of weight it feels about right but it just feels slightly dead, not to stiff or to bendy but it just doesn’t load quite right. I don’t know what the bend profile is in my current shaft but I would really like to feel a little more load in the Middle/Tip to really get a good feeling for where the club head is. Swing speed is between 100-105 depending on the day, I prefer stiffer iron shafts, gaming DG 120 S300. I would really like something with a hint more flex in the tip/middle for my driver just to get that extra load and feel for timing Etc... any idea which direction I should aim?
Hi Ian and Matt. Really enjoy watching the content you guys bring out. Regarding Matt using the red Ventus shaft, were the stats down compared to the black shaft because of his swing speed?
I know it was a video about venture shafts but again Ian you showed what a good fitter would do because at first the black did not look like a good shaft for Matt a bit of a tweak with the weights and it’s a good shaft for Matt. It’s just where you go to get this high class fitting.
Very interested to see if you guys could do a review specifically with a 2 iron like a" u500" or "p790" (with graphite shaft) compared to a more forgiving long iron that is bent to 17/18 degrees of loft. I was thinking of like a "ap3" or "apex19iron" . I think this video would be perfect for Matt !!! Lol.
Thomas Riley one of the things to consider when de- lofting is that you are also reducing bounce. Effectively making said forgiving head a little less so.
And do you think its possible to use different types of balls and let us see the difference. I'm sure you are using Pro v. Or am I assuming? By the way I have the red 5 r in my Tour Edge C721 and I love it. My swing speed maxes out at 99mph. I'll be 60 in August.
I would be interested in a comparison between the Ventus and HZRDUS t1100 or HZRDUS smoke green... on paper I believe the green is lower torque? Does that mean higher moi?
I love how you can see the incremental changes in the shaft perfectly with Matty's numbers. I'm sure Fujikura will be more than pleased with this test as it shows off the exact differences they were after in these shafts. Don't apologize for nerdy!!!! That's why most of us are here.
Once again can't believe what the shaft Co. says. Shouldn't Red launch higher?

Is the red shaft playable for seniors with 85mph swing speed
Found the red a bit whippy...went with the blue. More feel than performance but im only at 100mph..
Would you say stiffer shaft with more loft head is the way to go ?
There it is!!
Hi Ian and Matt. Really enjoy watching the content you guys bring out.
Regarding Matt using the red Ventus shaft, were the stats down compared to the black shaft because of his swing speed?
likely yes, the red was probably a bit on the soft side at that speed
@@clubchampionmedia thank you.👍
I was wondering if these shafts can be fitted to the fairway wood
I know it was a video about venture shafts but again Ian you showed what a good fitter would do because at first the black did not look like a good shaft for Matt a bit of a tweak with the weights and it’s a good shaft for Matt. It’s just where you go to get this high class fitting.
So if I hit it 240 and off the toe is my miss get the red one?
Very interested to see if you guys could do a review specifically with a 2 iron like a" u500" or "p790" (with graphite shaft) compared to a more forgiving long iron that is bent to 17/18 degrees of loft. I was thinking of like a "ap3" or "apex19iron" . I think this video would be perfect for Matt !!! Lol.
Thomas Riley one of the things to consider when de- lofting is that you are also reducing bounce. Effectively making said forgiving head a little less so.
Is the Project X Evenflow White T1100 X-Stiff(6.5) comparible to the Ventus X-Stiff? Great video guys!
Black 6x?
And do you think its possible to use different types of balls and let us see the difference. I'm sure you are using Pro v. Or am I assuming? By the way I have the red 5 r in my Tour Edge C721 and I love it. My swing speed maxes out at 99mph. I'll be 60 in August.
May have missed it, were these w/ Velocore?
Yes
Is swingweight altered much with the ventus black?
Ian, you mentioned that from the UST tests the mid section produces the most energy, so would that be a stiffer mid produces more than a softer mid?
I would be interested in a comparison between the Ventus and HZRDUS t1100 or HZRDUS smoke green... on paper I believe the green is lower torque? Does that mean higher moi?
Jon-Michael Sherman I actually have Ventus blue and Hzrdus smoke. The smoke performs better for me but they are both very nice shaft
