Wonderful video!!
Thank you!
I've been watching a while. Someone seriously needs to give you your own TV show !
haha That's a very generous statement. Thanks a lot. To be fair, you're already watching my own TV show.
Now that's one helluva day right there my friend. That's a great fishery!
hahaha Thanks man!
Big day, Chuck, and not just for winter. Great tip on the heavy gauge wide gap too.One of best things about having a great day is it allows you to experiment. Laughed when you swung the stone fly, hooked up and said something like “...no way!”. Good stuff.
That's so true. A lot of times when you catch a lot of fish right off the bat you feel fulfilled and are more inclined to experiment. The truth is though, we should probably be experimenting more on the days that aren't going well. haha
Yeah, I couldn't believe it worked just a few casts later and especially because I was swinging it pretty fast, almost like a streamer.
Thanks for watching!
Great fishing, what about some information on nymphing set ups etc.,( lines, leaders, tippers). Thanks.
Thank you! I do have this video here which explains the rig for nymphing. ruclips.net/video/MWQlFI-btDk/видео.html
I plan to do an updated video at some point.
Hey Chuck,
Your stuff is some of the best my man. I appreciate the compliment, but you are equally as good if not better. Love your videos and variety of content. The edits and thought that goes into planning your theme of the video is always top notch. Good luck explaining in this video. I enjoy commentary too. A lot of people can catch fish. Can they figure out WHY and explain it to others. That is not easy. Thanks for sharing buddy!
Thanks a lot Mike! Appreciate you watching and supporting the channel. Always enjoy watching your stuff.
Great video. Stonefly was killing it. Thank you.
You're welcome and thank you for watching and leaving a comment. Glad you enjoyed!
Good vid would like to see the flies you catch them on
You did well there my friend, you did a great job connecting with the browns! You never know what the day will yield on the water, that's why its important to go when you can. You have to seize the moment! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks! You're absolutely right, gotta go whenever you can because you never know what may happen.
Hit this one outta the park! Nice work Chuck. Big water, I like it, it looked similar to your last video. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Scott! Glad you enjoyed. Look forward to fishing with you soon.
I stumbled across a winter stonefly hatch yesterday!!
I did recently as well. No fish rising though
Slayed them. Nice man.
Appreciate it!
Dang...heck of a good day getting into some nice browns!! 👍👍
Thank you for watching and glad you enjoyed the video!
Excellent work!
Thank you!
You keep up the great work and you'll be giving Scott a run for his money!! Great day of lip rippin!
haha I plan on getting out and fishing with Scott sometime soon. I don't see it as a competition though.
Excellent video! Glad you ripped lip!
Thanks and glad you enjoyed watching!
Cool trip, peace my friend.
Thanks for watching! 👍
Trust it
Good tutorial video! Solid fish all around! Gonna tie that stone, looks like killer fly ! Tight lines !
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed. Yeah I think it's a good, simple pattern that you're not afraid to lose so you end up fishing it a lot better.
Wonderful video and patterns! Hope to run into you on the stream this year. Thanks.
Thank you! Same! Come chat if you see me.
Great videos. Your commentary is great. Great camera work too. Love your channel!
Thanks a lot for the compliments! Glad you enjoy the channel.
Awesome Video!
Thanks Jordan!
Awesome man! Subbed. Tight lines.
Thanks for the sub and thanks for watching!
Awesome video! Best one yet. I need a day like that soon!
Thank you and thanks for watching! haha We all need days like this, that's for sure!
Man you and your stonefly were on fire. Congrats.
haha Yeah I was surprised because it was such a cold day and the days leading up to that day were as well.
You had a smokin day! The stone kicked butt,!! Looks like you were using brown color ..did you try any other colors? Good job peace✌️
Yessir. You'll be seeing a lot more of the stonefly since we're heading into spring and higher flows. This was the reddish brown color. I didn't try anything else since they seemed to be liking the brown. haha
Thanks for watching!
Good vid. What general part of the world are you fishing in this vid? I'm sure you don't want to blow up your spot but just looking for general area. I'm in NYC and looking for good winter fishing spots.
I replied to you on IG. Thanks for commenting though.
Great action.I tied up a batch of Euro Golden’s getting ready to try. What pound test is your Amnesia. Thanks for the videos.
Awesome! For my nymphing rig I like to run 20lb.
You're welcome and thank you for watching!
Great day on the water. Is this your favorite time of year to fish? I would to see a good, better, best video on rods, reels and flies (nymphs on up).
March - May/mid-June is my favorite time to fish, but winter is a close second. When I say winter I mean after spawn until March.
Okay, thanks for the feedback and I will definitely consider this. Look for my video next week talking about my top 5 spring nymphs.
Another quality video...were you on the J
Thank you!
I got a 10 foot 2wt moonshine i fight 7 lb steelhead with ...let that bend do the work and keep it high ...those fish wont break it...alot of backbone in the bottom
did you have a fish come off btw ? crazy catch ratio
On this particular day I believe just the fish at the end when I was swinging the fly was the only fish that popped off.
Hint: It's the magic of wide gap up-turned hooks
Nice job. I like amnesia as well. Does it sometimes get inside your reel?
I've never had it get inside my reel, but sometimes it pops out of the frame where it meets the arbor.
Bruh that was a loaded stream!!! They were all good fish especially in the dead of winter!!! What part of the state do you live in??
Keep killing it man!!!
Thanks man! Glad you enjoyed the video. I live in SW PA. South of Pittsburgh
@@Brownsylvania do you guide at all?
I do not guide. I can't see myself ever being a guide, but who knows. I just don't think it's for me.
Great content and fishing! Cheers
By way - what rod and reel combo were you using for this trip? 4wt?
Thanks man!
In this video I'm using my Shadow X 10' 6" 3wt
wow, you got a lot of fish. you know what you are doing. beside that, i look at myself, i haven't been not catching anything in new jersey, lets say this 2 months🥲..., you might laugh at me. if you don't mind, what river in pensilvania is this?, id like to try there, otherwise my fishing you channel would die..😙
Thanks for watching! Unfortunately I don't like to name streams.
Congrats mad day 👍how far you casting your rig
Thanks! I was fishing pretty close on this day. Probably 10-15 feet in front of me.
Would be nice if you showed the flies that your catching them on. Otherwise enjoyed your videos.
Are you running straight amnesia?? I have been running 30ft of 12lb amnesia to a 2x sighter. Seems to work great. Is that sold out Sage click all its talked up to be?
Yup. Backing > about 50ft Amnesia > tippet ring > tippet
Been using this setup for 3 years now and love it.
To be honest, I actually think it is. It's soooo light and I love click reels because they just work and don't burn out.
One more question. Assuming you are in PA, when fishing fly fishing only streams how long do you make your leader? Do you use a full 18 feet or do you try to keep some fly line out of the end of the rod to keep the knots from hanging up on the guides?
Great question. I don't fish fly fishing only sections often, but if I do, then yeah I just use a rig with fly line and 18ft of Amnesia.
Hate to possibly high jack a post, but if looking for a reel for mono rigging on 10’ plus rod, I searched long and hard and as as budget guy, found the full frame, no line “pull through” , solid drag, Loop Q for about $115.Used it a couple times and although my Larson Konic is older than my kids, the Loop Q is likely to takes its place when mono rigging.
@@wvbrookchub the 18 foot leader rule doesn’t exist anymore (I believe). Last time I checked the fly fishing only sections regulations it wasn’t listed there
Ok so presumably by size these are all wild fish, but man they are acting like little stockers just scattered everywhere and eating everything! What the heck is going on here!?
haha They are all wild fish. I actually find that stocked trout tend to pod up in slower moving water most times and that wild fish tend to be more spread out.
Thanks for watching!
@@Brownsylvania I figured that! Just from watching the video you’re picking them up all in a relatively small area. Just so many fish man lol dang. Hope I have a day like that next week haha 👊😂 great video man thanks.
haha Well thanks man! Glad you enjoyed and I hope you have a killer day as well.
what is euro nymphing im new to fly fishing
It's a style of nymphing where instead of using an indicator/bobber to detect strikes from fish you use long, lightweight monofilament leaders to keep tight to your flies so that you can feel the strike or see the line move for the strike. Welcome to the fly fishing community as well! You're in for a life changing ride.
@@Brownsylvania lol i bet
