I’ve seen thousands of lists on the inter web tv. This by far is the one that has resonated most with me. Ever. Also one of the first times I’ve ever left a comment RUclips as well
You pretty much nailed it with this list, and quite a few I didn't know about before that i will have to check out. Off the top of my head, I would add THX 1138, Logan's Run, Age of Adeline and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button to the list as well.
Thank you so much for this. These are the kinds of movies I look for. I won't have to hunt for them anymore. Some of my favorites, Her, Everything Everywhere All At Once, Interstellar, The Truman Show and The Butterfly Effect, are on your list. Great video.
Excellent compilation. I would add Back to the Future, Midnight in Paris, Tomorrow Land, Divergent, I Robot, Big Trouble in Little China, Edge of Tomorrow, Ad Astra, Men in Black, Room 147, Alice in Wonderland, Irrational Man, Interstellar, The Twilight Zone TV series, Dr Strange, Groundhog Day, The Passenger, Sea of Trees, Maze Runner, among others. Apologies if you did list one of these and I forgot or if someone else did so already.
Fantastic list! I would personally recommend/add Tenet, Limitless and Eyes Wide Shut. I have revisited so many great movies because of your list thank you so much!!
Graet list. A lot of Denis Villeneuve's films on there, absolutely love them. I would suggest Oldboy, Edge of Tomorrow, Ender's Game and Alien. If you're into Anime watch Satoshi Kon's films. Paprika and Millenium Actress blew me away. Haven't seen Perfect Blue yet but will get that covered soon. The original Ghost in the Shell should also be mentioned alongside Akira and the Neon Genisis Evangelion series/films.
Great list! I've seen most, but I noted a few that I haven't to add to my watch list. Here would be my additions: Coherence +++, Black Swan, Secret Window, The Lodge, Black Bear, The Perfect Host, The Lighthouse, Melancholia, Memento, Exit Plan, Twenty Twenty Four, Memento, 12 Monkeys, In Time, Safety Not Guaranteed More Creepy Thrillers/Horror focused: Super Dark Times, The House That Jack Built, The Cabin In The Woods, Mother! The Number 23, The House of Sand and Fog, Before I Go to Sleep, Creep 1 & 2 Documentary: Spaceship Earth
With AI a current topic, “The Artifice Girl” (2022) is a must see. It seems to be influenced by “The Man From Earth” (2007). As the earlier film is a debate and discussion ranging over history, history, and philosophy, “Artifice Girl” features a cast of 3 who, over time (a three act structure) talk, debate, and speculate as their own investigations of AI and the nature of existence carries this fascinating film.
Immediately i saw predestination, i knew this was super super legit, awesome list but here are some really cool once to check, PASSENGERS, SOUL, WEST WORLD, IROBOT, FIGHT CLUB,
My suggestions: - The game with Michael Douglas and Sean Penn. - La science des reves (Dir. Michel Gondry). - Be kind, rewind ( " ). - Cuento de hadas para dormir cocodrilos ( a mexican movie). - What happened to Monday (Dir.Tommy Wirkola) - Eyes wide shut by Stanley Kubrick. - The ninth gate by Roman Polanski. - The white ribbon (Dir. Michael Heneke). - Jacob´s ladder (Dir. Adrian Lyne). - The serpent and the rainbow (Dir. Wes Craven). - Palindromes (Dir. Todd Solondz). - Dogville (Dir. Lars Von Trier) - American psycho with Christian Bale. - Under the silver lake with Andrew Garfield. - The killing of a sacred deer (Dir. Yorgos Lanthimos). - The lobster ( " ). That´s all folks...for now!!
Been looking for mind bending films like these since I finished mr robot. Even though it’s a show it’s still amazing and definitely worth the watch. The only film on this list I’d say is close to mr robot would be something like memento or maybe fight club but realistically there’s no film or show like Mr. robot 🤖
Has anyone noticed that Scarlett Johansson is in three of these movies? The island was filmed at the old train station in Detroit. Which is now rebuilt by Ford motor company.
Here's my film to add: Tenet Shadow of the moon Synchronic Jumper The tomorrow war Edge of tomorrow Hardcore henry (1st POV) Bright And here's some mind bending series: DARK 1899 Equinox Katla The AO Sense 8 Altered carbon Archive 81 Loki (marvel)
WOW... you just listed nearly all my faves (a fiew I have to check out... the cube was the only one I could not watch til the end 🙈)... here movies I love and watched several times: frequency, the 5th element (he had the idea to this movie with14, if you like it, also watch Valerian), Legende of the fall, Harald and Maude, Passenger, little Buddha with keanu reves, celestine prophecies, highlander (movies), Dr. Strange, what dreams may come, and I also love Enemy mine from 1985 (they had no fx, lol... but the story is awesome...)... how about flatliners and man from earth?... many of my list have a deeper meaning. Series I love are Kyle xy, Sanctuary and smallville ( 😂...I know, but Mr. Kent sneaked into my heart...lol)
Hi, great video as always but why did you start using AI voices? You have a great natural voice (just look at the comments on your "power of now" videos), please bring it back! Thank you for the awesome content.
Quite exhaustive collection of very good films, with only a few I did not (yet) know. I would also recommend: - Shutter Island (US 2010, psychothriller with Leonardo DiCaprio) - Never Let Me Go (UK 2010, dystopian but rather slow-paced movie with Carey Mulligan, Keira Knightley & Andrew Garfield) - The Girl with all the Gifts (UK 2016, postapocalyptic horror movie) - 28 days later (UK 2002, post-apocalyptic horror) - 28 weeks later (UK 2007, post-apocalyptic horror) - Rumble Fish (US 1983, by Francis Ford Coppola) - Metropia (dystopian animation movie, Sweden / 2009) - Akira (Japanese Cyberpunk anime, 1988) - Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (Postapocalyptic anime, Japan 1982) - Fantastic Planet (very weird Frensh SciFi animation movie from 1973) - On a Silver Globe (Polish SciFi, 1988) - Dead Man's Letters (Postapocalyptic, Soviet Union, 1986) - It's hard to be a God (Russian SciFi, 2013) - Paranoia 1.0 / "One Point Zero" (Cyberpunk psychothriller, filmed in Romania 2004)
Plus a couple of recommendable psycho / mystery thriller, mostly from the 1990s & 2000s: - Jacob's Ladder - The Manchurian Candidate - Mystic River - Being John Malkovich - Paprika - Take Shelter - 8mm - Room 1408 I will stop here.
I came here to choose a mind-blowing movie to watch. You listed two that I watched already, ""Equilibrium" and "Inception", but I found them absolutely shallow, featuring nothing more than the "rule of cool" and lots of old & re-used tropes. I think we disagree on what is "mind-blowinfg".
@@wisdom-for-life, Being There is one of the greatest movies of all time. Your list is excellent but the earlier recs of David Lynch movies are must-sees, as are the above recommended TV shows Dark and 1899 (same creator), and the OA (mistyped above as the AO). Also excellent TV shows in keeping with your theme are: Amerrican Gods, Beforeigners, Messiah, Severance, Devs, Bodies (2023), Mr Robot, Brave New World (2020), The Man In The High Castle, and Counterpart. Enjoy😊
Here are my 3 key takeaways from this meaningful video. 1. The Power of Storytelling: Films have the ability to transport us to different worlds and perspectives, stimulating our imagination and challenging our preconceived notions. By exploring complex themes and narratives, these films invite us to contemplate the deeper questions of life. 2. The Human Condition: Many of these films delve into the complexities of the human experience, exploring emotions such as love, loss, fear, and hope. By witnessing the triumphs and struggles of characters, we gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and our place in the world. 3. The Impact of Technology: The list highlights the growing influence of technology on our lives and society. From artificial intelligence to genetic engineering, these films prompt us to consider the ethical implications and potential consequences of technological advancements. So much thanks to Wisdom for Life!

This is a wonderful list of thought-provoking films. I am most familiar with "Dark City", one of the best films I have ever witnessed. I think "2001 A Space Odyssey", "Blade Runner [original only, not the sequel]", "Fahrenheit 451", "Donny Darko", "12 Monkeys", "Fight Club", "Minority Report", "Mysterious Skin", "Sixth Sense", and "Source Code" are almost as good. However, I wish "Matrix" had never made this list; Keanu Reeves holds the dubious distinction of receiving the Golden Raspberry Award (for _worst_ actor in a given year's releases). William Gibson's "Johnny Mnemonic" was one of the best short novels I have ever read, but the film was ruined by Keanu Reeves' horrible acting.
Brah, the girlfriend and I just watched Mysterious Skin... That was such a fuked movie, dont watch this off this dudes recommendation. Hard pass on that pos movie smh, waste of 2 hours of our lives. Its just some weird pedo movie with a shitty storyline. Now you dont have to watch it. Congrats lmfao
