I own a 2008 Range Rover HSE Supercharge. Like most luxury cars which are technologically advance you may have to fix or replace certain items. Eg. The suspension on this vehicle is very advance. It also has Air suspension and you will definitely end up replacing it after 100K miles. The engine is solid and it really moves and drives like a dream. By far the best vehicle I have ever owned .
Thanks for this comment watson, you and Tyler are selling me in on this one I'm considering that's the same deal - super 2008 @100k miles. Expecting to pay into the repairs for sure. Just trying to gauge if it's going to be 3k, 7k or 12k
My dad has a 2006 HSE non supercharged. 210k miles and counting. Ac works ice cold and every warning light is on the dash but have been driving like that for over 1 year without issues. Still drives really good. Did nothing but a new battery. Starts right up every time! Takes you anywhere. For now..😉
I found one in immaculate condition with 190k miles for $3900. No rust, clean, paint still looks new, inside is immaculate. Anything in particular I should look for? Seems too good to be true.
Air suspension is a big one. Also play with all of the electronics. Make sure nothing weird happens when turning on and off certain things. Test the terrain modes. Also it depends on the year. If it’s 2007 and older… I’d leave it for someone else. If it’s 2008 and newer, sure go for it. If it has a supercharger floor it to make sure it’s still strong.
@@notoriousmoist5169 if your in bay area California i have a 2008 Land Rover RRS HSE HSE 150k miles CLEAn title in hand No mechanical issues just has high miles asking 12k obo Lmk!
Yo Tyler! Great video bro. Was really helpful for me. And dude, can I ask what part of the united states you're in? Looks like paradise man. All that green big ol' lawns with nice houses on large lots. Man, if you're feeling generous and you could share the county and state I'd be appreciating that. Me and my chick are looking at places across the US. Hopefully that's the south or midwest - lotta nice people in my experience.
LOL...I drive a Disco 2...it's my 4th one. Finally found a good one. Had to replace the ac pump and recharge the ac...I did it myself and it wasn't very expensive...I think it was like 250 dollars total. Like you though, it worked for a while and then stopped working. Had to replace some of the fittings because they were leaking the gas. All fixed now but this vid brought back funny memories of driving with the windows down at highway speed to keep myself from melting into the seat!
If it didn’t have a salvage title with the way the market is right now I’d say that’s not to bad. But I wouldn’t pay 12k for a salvage title Land Rover. That’s my opinion 🤷🏼♂️
My 2011 RRS has salvage title and after I put some TLC into her, she is actually a fine automobile! Only thing about salvaged titles, Banks will be hard to finance them 👌🏽
Hello there! Unfortunately I am no mechanic nor mechanically inclined. You could always try checking to see if you have a bad battery. Hopefully it’s something as simple as that. If not… online forums may be able to assist?
Don't kid yourself on that. I have a 2005 Toyota 4runner. I bought it with 98k miles on it. I drove it to 135k and it started to overheat. I changed the thermostat, seemed to fix the issue. 2 months later, started to overheat again. Replaced the thermostat again. Same thing. Was good for 2 months, then started to overheat again, mostly in city traffic. Then the mechanic replaced the radiator.... That fixed it! (FOR a MONTH And A HALF)..... Now I am convinced the motor is fine, but perhaps its the water pump? I really don't know. But I needed reliable second vehicle, while I get this other thing sorted out. "Toyota reliability" ..... AT least its never left me stranded! And This is a 2005 4 runner, with 2005 miles...... The frame is starting to rot in the front underneath.... The trans has weird symptoms with 4x4. With that being said, I would consider it a reliable vehicle to an extent. But don't kid yourself. Its not leaps and bounds ahead of GMC or anything. And honda? I've had them, but i would never bother with anything honda for an SUV..... Maybe for a soccer mom or something like that. You have no off- road capability at all. I can pull more with my bicycle than you can with a honda SUV. IF you wanted to give it a shot, SURE- a honda can pull 6,000 lb; if you want to change the transmission when you change your oil. The reliability for the toyota is specific to the engine block itself, at least for the 2005 4 runner. The frame erodes away easily. What are you going to do with a good running engine, with a failing frame and a failing cooling system? You're going to buy a lower mileage Range Rover, because it looks better and its cooler!
yea, not really. I bought a 89 Land Cruiser with 185k miles with high hopes it would last forever. The auto transmission failed on it. I fixed it and sold it. I've honestly had better luck with Land Rovers and old Fords. Just stay on top of any issues or maintenance and they'll treat you right. Way nicer to drive and own than most toyotas.
The closest Land Rover dealer estimated $2800 for replacing a bad compressor and charging the system. However... a month later the A/C stopped working again. That time it was a bad condenser estimated at $1300 to fix. Totally ridiculous... but hey it’s fixed. For now. 😂

We haven’t had any issues in over a year luckily!
I don’t feel important. I need this Range Rover. 😭
upto 2006 was a BMW V8 but 2007-2009 is a Jaguar V8 and got a bit more reliable.
