Sorry but I disagree, the song was made for Anette, with her pop style and high tones. It is the essence of the song. Floor may have a great voice, but Anette's songs only sound perfect with her voice. (Along with the band's style, Anette's voice gives the songs an "epic" look)

It depends on the song, Anette's songs have a very different style from Floor. If Floor sings an Anette song, Anette wins by a lot and vice versa too. As much as they say that Floor is better, Anette's songs will always be for her. And in my personal opinion, I like songs with Anette's style (which is more pop) more than Floor songs. I also love Tarja's style (opera).

The issue is whether you prefer the thinner pop sound of Anette or the stronger rockier sound Floor has. It might be down to which you heard first. I heard Floor first, and when I heard Anette it just seemed so weak. Anettes songs arent very metal at all, when Floor sings them they have clearly remixed them to be more metal. We know Floor could sing them like Anette, as she could sing Tarjas songs like Tarja, but the band likely wanted to make use of her abilities to give a fresher, harder edge.

They are both good... Annette is perfect for the intimate , circus like , fun and yet menacing atmosphere of Imaginaerum. Floor is great for the Ultra epic feeling this song also conveys.
Hmmm... Floor live versus Anette studio? Not a level platform to conduct your comparison, but still, Floor shines brightly. Personally, I quite like the aggressive edge Floor offers and at least we know she'll deliver consistently when it comes to future live performances. Anette was great in the studio but I was quite inwardly disappointed when I saw her live in Melbourne. Floor on the other hand, was mesmerising.
I liked Anette when I saw her just a few weeks into her first tour with Nightwish. (The whole group seemed so happy at the time.) But from what I've seen in videos, it didn't last.
Anette is not a cliché singer. For us we like something really special and has no stereo types, chose Anette. And to those who say that the voice of Floor is better, tell me what is best fruit orange or pineapple?
I'm not necessarily saying that Floor is better but I do think her aggressive take on the song fits the pace and the tone of the music better. Also I like how she sang along with the choir at 2:55. Anette stays silent in her version.

Dont get me wrong Anette is great but in range and stuff shes not on their level. Anette shined with her great voice and personality on the band. She also made her own version of the old songs. She can sing imaginaerum and dpp songa very well the problem is that shes always compared to all the metal singers who often have that super powerful voice and range, (not sure if its metal or rock or what) anette isnt the same type of singer as floor or tarja she is more of pop/rock singer and her style fitted well for the albums she made with nw. If you compare anette to other pop/rock singers you can see she is not bad

Live is a single take done for real in front of people. A studio performance is a huge advantage, you can collate every single line from different takes. Yet Floor sounds better, she’s just a more accomplished singer.
Seriously, the version with Floor rocks! The one with Anette sounds like Barbie Girl with Aqua. I'm not going to join the war about who's best, but I stopped listening to them after they fired Tarja. I will most definitely start listening to them again with Floor. I have absolutely nothing against Anette, or those who prefer her, but I fell in love with Nightwish for their operatic style. With Tarja gone that was gone too, but with Floor it is back again!

Well, but Floor isn't singing in an operatic style even on Tarja songs /o/ she's just doing some choir parts. Tuomas asked her to do everything with a more "belted" approach.
If you find Anette's Storytime with good audio, let me know. Because the only ones I have found have completely broken audio. Besides, the live version has much better dynamics.
This is a recorded version against a live version - not fair to judge! Both singers are Fantastic - and Nightwish are Awesome - They always will be with their songs no matter who sings for them :D Love them!!!
Anette just has the creepiness to her voice that the song needs. I do agree that Floor is a better singer overall, Anette added a level of creepiness that the song needs. This one goes to Anette.

I liked Anette's sweet voice but I do agree with you that Floor is a better fit for a metal band and she has taken Nightwish to a whole new level. Floor is the best thing to happen to Nightwish since Marco joined the band.

I think the only child here is you if you think that having a different voice than the one you prefer is bad, I like Anette's voice much more than Floor's. Anette brought the pop factor that I like to Nightwish songs, and you prefer Floor's voice that brings power to metal songs. Different opinions and that's not why I'm going to say that Floor seems to have a man's voice. They both have unique voices, Be more open. Greetings!

Storytime is Anette's song, along with Amaranth and Slow Love Slow. I personally don't think Floor does it that good with Imaginaerum's material as the album has a childish innocent quality Floor definetly doens't have. Her version of Last Ride is good, though.
both singers are doing fine, to me it seems anette has an incredibly atmospheric voice, while floors voice is more bold. so it's more an sensitiveness vs. technique thing (at least to me).

I like this video very much. You use the best quality recordings available for both singers, give them pretty much equal time, and do not try to present one as better than the other. Obviously people are free to conclude that one or the other is better if they like, but you are not trying to shove such a conclusion down people's throats. Thanks for editing and sharing.

Nightwish " become known " for they music style alied with operatic vocals, then they kicked Tarja out and hired Anette ( that can't sing operatic even to save her life, actualy there is a video in youtube of her singing dark chest of wonders live and she LITERALY loses her voice on stage and Marco was the one to finish the song ) iff she could sing lirical and didn't because the band wanted to change the style no one wold " compare " them but she cant, unlike Tarja and Floor that are both lirical sopranos, she wanted to be in the band, she actualy tried twice to be in nightwish snd she knew the gigantic " shues " that she had to fill with her litle " cinderella feet ", even so beeing the " weekest " of the three she did made a good job

First of all, the video was not made for comparison purposes, but still when you listen to it, you cannot help comparing their perfomances, right?. Second of all, maybe it would be unfair if the fact that one track is live and one is a studio version tipped the scale in Anette's favour. I think we all agree that this is not the case, Floor sounds better even though she sings live. Anyway, let's just enjoy the song.

Seré sincera con respecto a Anette, 1.- la pobre me daba pena, pues desde que entro a la banda le hicieron Bulling, Bulling el cual la propia Tarja desprecio y pidió a sus fans que no continuaran porque después de todo no era su culpa el que ella saliera de esta. 2.- Si bien había una que otra canción buena, no me convencía mucho, sobre todo al escuchar esos hermosos temas antiguos descuartizados solo para que se acoplaran a su estilo vocal que no tenia nada de lírico como se suponía debía ser una banda Metal Sinfónico, al grado de parecer covers de Nightwish y no Nightwish. 3.-Y por ultimo, conquisto mi corazón con "IMAGINARIUM" haciéndome saltar de alegría porque Nightwish estaba de regreso, ya no sin una cantante lírica pero si con alguien que al fin daba para ser considerada como parte fundamental de la banda y me alegro por ella, en serio, pero....justo cuando todo iba viento en popa, la despiden. Claro esta, los temas en cuestión eran de su era y no antes de ella.

The audio in Floor's live version has much better dynamics, even the music sounds so much better. The problem with Anette is that there are no great quality live recordings from her Nightwish era. Give me a link if you find one! There are couple of TV broadcasts, Exit festival Serbia with decent sound and crappy video, and the Motreaux 2012 jazz festival with good video and muffled audio. What one has, is mostly fan recorded videos, none with good audio.

Anette is best for this song, in my opinion. Floors voice is so strong & just permeates you. Anette's is like a little girl's, which is perfect for a song called, "Storytime". So, to me, Anette's voice matches this song's theme & I would have to give the nod to her. However, Floor just absolutely nails it when she sings it, too in her own right.
+Blake Hunter Actually, Anette's voice at 3:42 is not child-like. She belts it out & nails it. Floor does, too, at 4:04. They are both awesome at this song. But, I still give the edge to Anette. It's her song to begin with, and her voice fits the theme a bit more. Honestly, this band is just so lucky to have a history of Tarja, Anette, and Floor all in their lineup. All 3 are top notch vocalists in their own right. Just, a bit different genres. This particular song is Anette's though. She just "owns" it. But, Floor kicks ass singing it, too. Floor is way better especially if you compare Anette's solo stuff vs Floor's Revamp and After Forever music. Floor's current music with Revamp is incredible.

Guilherme Castro I wish Tuomas would let Floor sing more operatically. Ironically, she performs more opera in her other groups than with Nightwish.

+Mitch Bolen On the CD her voice sounds somewhat "sweet" which is a contrast to the creepy theme of the whole thing. Hence even more creepiness.

I liked Anette's sweet voice but I do agree with you that Floor is a better fit for a metal band and she has taken Nightwish to a whole new level. Floor is the best thing to happen to Nightwish since Marco joined the band.

I think the only child here is you if you think that having a different voice than the one you prefer is bad, I like Anette's voice much more than Floor's. Anette brought the pop factor that I like to Nightwish songs, and you prefer Floor's voice that brings power to metal songs. Storytime is Anette's song, along with Amaranth and Slow Love Slow. I personally don't think Floor does it that good with Imaginaerum's material as the album has a childish innocent quality Floor definetly doens't have. Her version of Last Ride is good, though.
both singers are doing fine, to me it seems anette has an incredibly atmospheric voice, while floors voice is more bold. so it's more an sensitiveness vs. technique thing (at least to me).
I like this video very much. You use the best quality recordings available for both singers, give them pretty much equal time, and do not try to present one as better than the other. Obviously people are free to conclude that one or the other is better if they like, but you are not trying to shove such a conclusion down people's throats. Thanks for editing and sharing.

Nightwish " become known " for they music style alied with operatic vocals, then they kicked Tarja out and hired Anette ( that can't sing operatic even to save her life, actualy there is a video in youtube of her singing dark chest of wonders live and she LITERALY loses her voice on stage and Marco was the one to finish the song ) iff she could sing lirical and didn't because the band wanted to change the style no one wold " compare " them but she cant, unlike Tarja and Floor that are both lirical sopranos, she wanted to be in the band, she actualy tried twice to be in nightwish snd she knew the gigantic " shues " that she had to fill with her litle " cinderella feet ", even so beeing the " weekest " of the three she did made a good job

First of all, the video was not made for comparison purposes, but still when you listen to it, you cannot help comparing their perfomances, right?. Second of all, maybe it would be unfair if the fact that one track is live and one is a studio version tipped the scale in Anette's favour. I think we all agree that this is not the case, Floor sounds better even though she sings live.

Seré sincera con respecto a Anette, 1.- la pobre me daba pena, pues desde que entro a la banda le hicieron Bulling, Bulling el cual la propia Tarja desprecio y pidió a sus fans que no continuaran porque después de todo no era su culpa el que ella saliera de esta. 2.- Si bien había una que otra canción buena, no me convencía mucho, sobre todo al escuchar esos hermosos temas antiguos descuartizados solo para que se acoplaran a su estilo vocal que no tenia nada de lírico como se suponía debía ser una banda Metal Sinfónico, al grado de parecer covers de Nightwish y no Nightwish. 3.-Y por ultimo, conquisto mi corazón con "IMAGINARIUM" haciéndome saltar de alegría porque Nightwish estaba de regreso, ya no sin una cantante lírica pero si con alguien que al fin daba para ser considerada como parte fundamental de la banda y me alegro por ella, en serio, pero....justo cuando todo iba viento en popa, la despiden. En serio, que fome, porque si siguen así dentro de 6 años mas nos estamos despidiendo de Floor y dándole la bienvenida a otra cantante. Por cierto, me encanto Floor, tanto con los temas antiguos como los actuales.

Claro esta, los temas en cuestión eran de su era y no antes de ella.

I totally disagree I think Annette's voice is perfect for this song. Her voice gives it the ethereal edge that makes it work. Her range is perfect for this song. Floor is great but I like Annette better here.

The audio in Floor's live version has much better dynamics, even the music sounds so much better.
The problem with Anette is that there are no great quality live recordings from her Nightwish era. Give me a link if you find one! There are couple of TV broadcasts, Exit festival Serbia with decent sound and crappy video, and the Motreaux 2012 jazz festival with good video and muffled audio. What one has, is mostly fan recorded videos, none with good audio.
Anette is pretty awful live most of the time, it's no wonder the band didn't want to record them that often

Anette is best for this song, in my opinion. Floors voice is so strong & just permeates you. Anette's is like a little girl's, which is perfect for a song called, "Storytime". So, to me, Anette's voice matches this song's theme & I would have to give the nod to her. However, Floor just absolutely nails it when she sings it, too in her own right.
+Blake Hunter Actually, Anette's voice at 3:42 is not child-like. She belts it out & nails it. Floor does, too, at 4:04. They are both awesome at this song. But, I still give the edge to Anette. It's her song to begin with, and her voice fits the theme a bit more. Honestly, this band is just so lucky to have a history of Tarja, Anette, and Floor all in their lineup. All 3 are top notch vocalists in their own right. Just, a bit different genres.
This particular song is Anette's though. She just "owns" it. But, Floor kicks ass singing it, too. I can listen to either, endlessly!
It's not easy to mixed music video with live version the editing needs to be polished because the transition is not quite smooth.
