Well Liam is the most level headed, brightest, nicest of them. With good manners and overall hes a good kid. A narcissist like Frank would think thay he's his spitting image when he's the farthest from him😂
I realized something that kinda hit hard... When Fiona left the show the last thing she said to Frank was “see you around Frank” and he said “I doubt it” and she never did see him again and didn’t even get mentioned in his goodbye letter. After everything she did for him and the family. I understand Emmy couldn’t comeback due to covid restrictions, but I think they should have put one final thank you in the letter to Fiona or even made it as an update of Frank saying something about how her life is currently and that he’s proud of her for what she has done. It would have made it seem like she might’ve stayed in contact with her family
I would’ve agreed with you about ten minutes ago lol...but the more I think about it... the more it makes sense to me that Fiona wasn’t in the letter. Frank, above all things, was a narcissist. Even during the final Fiona and Frank goodbye he couldn’t get the words “Thank you for raising my kids. I love you” out. We all knew he felt that way, you could see it on his face, but he couldn’t get the words out. Because to Frank, Fiona’s leaving was just another important woman abandoning him. His mother, Monica, now Fiona. He felt gratitude towards her and knew what she was saying when she said “I did it all” was true, he just couldn’t get the words out. I think she kind of knew that too. And his last words being “If it helps you sleep at night” and “I doubt it” (in reference to seeing her around) further proves how big his ego is. That was his version of a goodbye. He couldn’t admit it even in the end. So of course, he couldn’t say it in the letter. He couldn’t tell Carl and Lip how much he loved them, despite the fact we had seen all these flashbacks proving that he at least deeply cares for them somewhere within him. His love for Fiona (aside from Liam towards the end) was the MOST prominent plotline in terms of Frank’s relationship with his kids. But I think their relationship was truly wrapped up in that final goodbye. He couldn’t have begun to emotionally address Fiona. I think the final season was extremely weak and frankly think they had no chance of salvaging it after they lost Emmy Rossum. When i was nervous and shaking, the female doctor hold my hand, relaxed me and gave me some pills, even when i didn't ask her for it. Those pills relaxed me then.
Been watching this show for years now and I remember how I always felt like I could relate to them in some ways and now that my stepdad is in the hospital dying from cirrhosis due to years of drinking it all feels awful and I'm scared. watching the last season got me very emotional because in some way it feels like everything is coming to an end and whatnot. This show has helped me see things differently and I'm sure it has affected people in other ways as well, and I remember I always watched it to find comfort. But overall, Franks's message hits home and I'm sure as hell my stepdad would think the same thing.

One of the best TV shows in my lifetime, I literally watched everyone grow and evolved in the show to the point I feel like I know each one of them personally in a real life story. I’m still mad they didn’t bring Fiona back. 😢
I thought this ending made perfect sense. Frank lived his entire life a shitty, selfish person. Apart from bonding a little bit with Franny and Liam, he didn’t even have a redemption arc. He continued to drink and do drugs after being diagnosed with alcoholic dementia. He spent his last months wandering the streets during the pandemic, thinking COVID was a hoax. The dude was always gonna die suddenly and alone. And I think all of this is what made him such a great character. He didn’t compromise, he always cared about himself first, and he didn’t pretend to be a more caring person even when staring death in the face. People are acting like his suicide letter should reflect how the fans felt, and not Frank, the complete asshole character. Maybe it’s not as satisfying to some viewers, and I’d pretty much agree with that, but it’s authentic and true to the spirit of the show.
He almost had a redemption arc when he stopped alchoul Only for his fucking family to force it back in his life and ruin it He was a good day for that short time
Well Covid had nothing to do with his death. You know how many people walked around thinking it was a hoax irl? It was millions in America alone. And most of them lived. Covid didn't kill Frank.
@@crunchycay9988 he was never going to stop drinking. as a viewer it's easy to hope otherwise, but realistically when he got that money he'd blow it on drugs if not booze
I love how none of the kids really know their father passed away. Frank was such a great character, we really hated him and loved him just like his kids would
Me too, maybe a spin off about Fiona's time in New York or Kev and V's life away from the gallaghers in their new town or even a story about Frank's childhood
You know what I actually love about the ending? How they ACTUALLY made lips genius appear one more time. I never thought they'd actually do it. Yeah he only changed a setting but he actually has practice and is smart. And I actually enjoyed that they opened up so many storylines. Don't like how they did it (in season 7 for instance they opened up storylines as well like Fiona buying her first building and lip actually deciding to go to aa but it was a lot more like an ending than the actual ending) but it's kinda bold and shameless that they did it. And I can't say they did a great job at season 11, season 11 was horrible, but the last episode? Hell yeah. They mentioned so much stuff that was unmentioned in the like entire past two seasons or longer (Mickey being a father, Fiona being... Well a living human being, lip being a genius and all that stuff), the last episode was actually surprisingly good. Edit: I said actually 7 times wtf
Remember the first time I saw shameless and I remember the last time I did. I grew up in a very violent and traumatic household with a abusive manipulative mother that turned my father into a rage fueled monster that took it out on us i raised my siblings same like fiona did standing up for them taking to beatings . Stay strong anyone whom has dealt with abuse of any form
Holy shit Frank actually died and to think the only suicide note he had and Franny colored over it RIP Frank Gallagher 2011- 2021 let’s hope he rests easy and either heaven or hell he was a legend
I always watched this show with my mom, but the day we watched the episode before this one, she passed and I pushed it off for months, I just decided to watch it, we grew up in the south side of Chicago and what he says in this, she always said about me and my brothers, near exactly. I miss her a lot and I think it was a sign
I know that Emmy Rossum couldn't be in the finale because of her autoimmune disorder in the state of Covid at the time of filming, and there's already a theory that narratively, Frank didn't include her in his letter out of a mix of his dementia, and underlying resentment for how Fiona walked out when Rossum left the show, but a lot of the finale still felt really cold to the character. There's no denying that there was a bit of resentment on the show's end there, despite that they did at least try to include her in flashbacks and references. It just feels like they didn't try hard enough to include her more on purpose.
This ending was perfect…!!💯💯💯💯 I love the series and, especially, how the characters grew. Even though his character was a mess…he was the best. Perfect ending…!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
For those that keep mentioning Fiona’s absence. Just in case you didn’t know, Emmy Rossum didn’t leave the show on good terms with the creators. It sucks that she couldn’t be apart of the finale, but they did the best with what they could.
She left on good terms they just filmed the last season mostly during Covid and it wasn’t safe or practical for her to travel and be a part of the show at that time. They tried working her in somehow but nothing felt right between her and the creator so they just left it like this. The creator has said he regrets it and wish they’d done something for her.
Latecomer to the show....only started watching it last couple of months through this Covid stuff.....wow am i going to miss it....loved every single minute

him getting the franny tattoo really changed my opinion on him too like he knew he fucked up wo everyone else but he figured he could still patch things up w liam and franny and he genuinely tried i feel
I always saw it more like Frank had no words left to speak towards Fiona. His relationship with her at that point went beyond words. He had no witty comebacks or half felt goodbyes for her. She was the one he saw in the nurse, she was the one taking him, in his eyes. He had nothing to say to her because to him, she was his guiding light out.
Did one notice they end show same way start with very similar speech frank gave very beginning of show and also they stand by something burn like beginning
Surprisingly good advice from Frank. He's right. Whatever you do, don't waste the time you have on this beautiful blue marble. If you're lucky, you'll get to spend it with family and friends. This show is great.
He calls out for Fiona before he passes, clearly thinking of her and his goodbye letter gives heartfelt (in his own way) words to Lip, Ian, Carl and Liam and then he just shits on Deb. “You remind me of your mother-and not in a good way. Good luck in life, you’re gonna need it.” Well deserved and well stated lol
please this had no business making me cry the way it did 😭 william h macy is a PHENOMENAL actor man because i don’t think i would ever see the day where i would cry over an abusive, addict, drunk father who died. this was a great way to end the show!
I still find it sad that he died alone with no one around. Yeah the relationship between him and the kids was crazy and stuff, but still that was sad to see, didn't think I would cry so much in Shameless lol
He got what he earned. Neglect and push away everyone in your life unless they can do something for you, and you aren't going to have anyone tripping over themselves to hold your hand
Frank lived how he died a true junkie and an addict until the end. As the storyteller when he died the story did too. I found it sad but it was An aburpt end just like life.
I think he does get to go to heaven because he wasn’t a malicious person. Yeah, he did some bad things, but he also did some good things. He did love his family, but he was an addict and alcoholic. Shows the duality of man.
i like how it ended the same way it started. sad the show is over. i genuinely really liked frank when he didn’t completely suck. he was one of my favorite characters. rip Frank Gallagher 🕊- legend in the worst ways lol! hate to love him. happy belated birthday to william macy as well (and noel fisher)- brilliant actor. :)
A reoccurring theme on Shameless was no matter how many times the 5 eldest Gallagher kids, or anyone else who despised Frank, wanted Frank dead or gone, he just won’t go. This ending goes to show that Frank’s time finally came. When he was diagnosed with Dementia, he had “DNR” tattooed on his chest. He came to terms with his immortality and that’s why the doctors and nurses in the finale just let him die
Honestly I think Franks assessment of each of them is damn near spot on for all of them. Out off all his kids Lip is the most like him too smart for his on good & has alcoholic tendencies but has self control. Ian isn’t even his biological son he’s Franks nephew & the son of his second brother Clayton but is a lot like Monica with his bipolar disorder & taste in men. Carl is nothing like the rest of his family. He’s not quite as smart as them in books but has enough street knowledge & understands the law well enough to be a cop. & Franks right about Debbie she had absolutely 0 impulse control & doesn’t think about anything about other people. Liam & Fiona were probably the most well adjusted of all the Gallagher’s.
I couldn’t stop crying this season because of his dementia, seeing stuff like that hurts my soul. I never thought I’d feel more sympathy for Frank than for Debbie
Man... i was seriously waiting for his spirit to feel gravity again and have his face look up looking worried and show him drop real quick back down into his body lol that wouldve been genius showing how much more life frank has to live.

@@verna-Raven what does HBO have to do with showtime.
@@trulyremarkable2953 exactly.
I totally understand the pandemic has really impacted the movies, tv shows, etc, but the ending could’ve been so much better or different and the finale honestly felt like an episode leading up to a finale. Props to the cast and everyone else who made the show what it is, I just wished the finale felt different. Maybe down the line we’ll see a spin off with the characters though
My mum and I watched this til she passed away in 2016...I have her ashes and I watched the final episode with her by my side!!! I enjoyed being closer to her than I ever have been!!! I have enjoyed growing with Shameless and growing with all of you my Shameless family in the comments!!! I miss you Shameless and my Shameless family!!!! Remember to always stay Shameless & true!!! Ty Shameless On Showtime!!!
wow that’s surprisingly sweet. glad you got to still
enjoy the ending with her. ❤
That’s so sweet.
I burst into tears as soon as the credits rolled
Same. This show made me feel like I was there. Like family.
I almost did when that young nurse hold his hand. It reminds me to my time in hospital, i had (25 yo, thanks god a harmless) fast heart beat. When i was nervous and shaking, the female doctor hold my hand, relaxed me and gave me some pills, even when i didn't ask her for it. Those pills relaxed me then.
Same😢
I cried the moment he said he proud of them
This isnt the ending i wanted but when i saw Liam looking back at Franks Bar Stool i couldnt keep the tears back.
I know I’m a little late with a reply since it’s been 8 months but I want to say I’m sorry for what happened to your step father. If he’s not here anymore with us, I am sorry for your loss. My dad loved watching this show and he is now dealing with cancer. He was diagnosed about 3 months ago. It’s scary when something like this happens to our parents. It makes you wish that you were in their shoes instead because they’ve done so much for you…
I hope his alright and doing better
It’s nearly word for word from the pilot opening. I like that. Full circle.
Ty Shameless for 11 seasons and all these years!!! Ty Shameless family for all years!!!! I'm gonna miss the show and all of you!!!! Frank you crazy man!!!
I love how the final moments of the series pays tribute to the very first episode. All of em surrounding a burning car enjoying the moment
Hey! Never put that together.
One of the best TV shows in my lifetime, I literally watched everyone grow and evolved in the show to the point I feel like I know each one of them personally in a real life story. I’m still mad they didn’t bring Fiona back. 😢
covid and lockdown restrictions. plus Emmy was very pregnant at that time so very dangerous for her to travel
She was supposed to be back, but then covid happened
watch uk one
Maybe she didn’t want to return
He almost had a redemption arc when he stopped alchoul
Only for his fucking family to force it back in his life and ruin it
He was a good day for that short time
I mean to be fair the show is called “Shameless” I don’t really know what people expected lol
Well Covid had nothing to do with his death. You know how many people walked around thinking it was a hoax irl? It was millions in America alone. And most of them lived. Covid didn't kill Frank.
He didn't commit suicide, he died from covid / the effects of his alcoholic dementia.
@@crunchycay9988 he was never going to stop drinking. as a viewer it's easy to hope otherwise, but realistically when he got that money he'd blow it on drugs if not booze
I love how none of the kids really know their father passed away. Frank was such a great character, we really hated him and loved him just like his kids would
In tv movie they'll come back for the reunion, and they realized sooner or later.
Liam knew, look at how he was smiling before he walked out the alibi he felt franks presence
This felt so unfinished. I need a spinoff or something...
theres shameless hall of shame, its all the same characters
If there is going to be a new season, it should start with Frank's funeral
I think this is a decent end for Frank but not a decent end for the rest. Shameless begins and ends with him now they need a spin off.
Me too, maybe a spin off about Fiona's time in New York or Kev and V's life away from the gallaghers in their new town or even a story about Frank's childhood
Never get so emotional from a show 🥺
just finished the series. Loved it to death. Still broke me heart at this scene.
i remember crying during the last 20 minutes of this episode, i don’t even know why it effected me so much.

I actually agree with you lol
@@courtneyportnoy that's so cool actually
Yeah actually u did say actually a few too many times. Actually lolll🤣
the best thing of this show: true human honesty.
2 days later and still miss frank man
I deadass cried when he died man he was one of the best actors :(
Is anyone else going to cry at the very first scene of the show if they ever rewatch?
The best advice I've ever had in my entire life.
I didn't think I'd cry over Frank
Holy shit Frank actually died and to think the only suicide note he had and Franny colored over it RIP Frank Gallagher 2011- 2021 let’s hope he rests easy and either heaven or hell he was a legend
Him blowing up was an indication that he went straight to hell
He wasn’t born in 2011-2021 that’s the show, frank was born May 19, 1954 and died in March 21 2021
It’s in the show
@@4khdscenepacks559 dude, no one cares. He's talking about the show
@@crocell1768Ok😁
I always watched this show with my mom, but the day we watched the episode before this one, she passed and I pushed it off for months, I just decided to watch it, we grew up in the south side of Chicago and what he says in this, she always said about me and my brothers, near exactly. I miss her a lot and I think it was a sign
Sending my best from Upstate NY, you got this✊🏼
Not mentioning Fiona in his letter was what kept this scene from truly being nostalgic and sad.
His message to Liam took me out 😂😂
Franks death fucked with me more than any other death in any other show or film. I could relate to the family.
It should be illegal how much this made me cry
I know that Emmy Rossum couldn't be in the finale because of her autoimmune disorder in the state of Covid at the time of filming, and there's already a theory that narratively, Frank didn't include her in his letter out of a mix of his dementia, and underlying resentment for how Fiona walked out when Rossum left the show, but a lot of the finale still felt really cold to the character. There's no denying that there was a bit of resentment on the show's end there, despite that they did at least try to include her in flashbacks and references. It just feels like they didn't try hard enough to include her more on purpose.
The only thing i like about frank, he finally told Debbie what she deserved and needed to hear
I couldn't stand Debbie's character like at all
Thanks, frank. Just what I needed to hear.
His last words are the MEANING OF LIFE
This ending was perfect…!!💯💯💯💯 I love the series and, especially, how the characters grew. Even though his character was a mess…he was the best. Perfect ending…!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
In the end Frank ascended to a higher power in life. I always knew Frank would die sooner or later.
Well, according to his own father in the "Shameless Hall of Shame" episode (Frank: Ghosts of Gallagher Past), Hell is actually upwards.
When Liam looked for Frank at the bar is what got me I’m still on the verge of tears
For those that keep mentioning Fiona’s absence.
Just in case you didn’t know, Emmy Rossum didn’t leave the show on good terms with the creators. It sucks that she couldn’t be apart of the finale, but they did the best with what they could.
Maybe in 10 or 20 years from now for their anniversary reunion making a TV movie, she'll be back for sure now things are getting back to normal.
Nice try. Not only are you lying, but she was also supposed to be in the final season. But Covid stopped that.
NOT TRUE AT ALL. Rossum was supposed to be in the final season but couldnt due to covid restrictions and the fact that she was pregnant
this seemed so rushed and unexplained 😭😭
Latecomer to the show....only started watching it last couple of months through this Covid stuff.....wow am i going to miss it....loved every single minute
Frank is too likable Ik he was a bad father but if he didn’t care he wouldn’t have sticked around he cared abt Liam and always told them he loved them I miss frank
him getting the franny tattoo really changed my opinion on him too like he knew he fucked up wo everyone else but he figured he could still patch things up w liam and franny and he genuinely tried i feel
@@ella-ey2og yesss ikr I miss frank a lot
I always saw it more like Frank had no words left to speak towards Fiona. His relationship with her at that point went beyond words. He had no witty comebacks or half felt goodbyes for her. She was the one he saw in the nurse, she was the one taking him, in his eyes. He had nothing to say to her because to him, she was his guiding light out.
I can't beleive the show didn't include fiona in the letter
Did one notice they end show same way start with very similar speech frank gave very beginning of show and also they stand by something burn like beginning
exactly, I thought it was similar to the very beginning of the show yesterday. What an ending.
Good luck in life, you’re gonna need it.”
Well deserved and well stated lol
R.I.P. SHAMELESS 😭
Love the tears in his eyes
Frank got the last laugh and somehow managed to go to heaven. 😂
the fact that franks first speech and his last are so similar and the last episode has the same exact title as the last episode of the first season
please this had no business making me cry the way it did 😭 william h macy is a PHENOMENAL actor man because i don’t think i would ever see the day where i would cry over an abusive, addict, drunk father who died. this was a great way to end the show!
He went out with a Bang
3:54 he had over a billion booze in his system 😂😂😂😂
a billion booze
Truly a shameless goodbye letter. Fits Frank and the show
frank talking about his kids...just like the first episode. cool how this reflects that
Rewatching the ending gives me a will to live again just hearing that "times precious don't fucking waste it"
One of the unique best show I ever watched 🙌..we are on our 2nd time watching it and sure won't stop there.
i was crying so much at this scene
I still find it sad that he died alone with no one around. Yeah the relationship between him and the kids was crazy and stuff, but still that was sad to see, didn't think I would cry so much in Shameless lol
He got what he earned. Neglect and push away everyone in your life unless they can do something for you, and you aren't going to have anyone tripping over themselves to hold your hand
Frank lived how he died a true junkie and an addict until the end. As the storyteller when he died the story did too. I found it sad but it was An aburpt end just like life.
@@sc1cash Even though it was sad it was very true to the life of an alcoholic and a junkie. An abrupt end.
@@sc1cash he recieved exactly what he earned. He was neglectful in life, he was neglected in death. It was appropriate
wow i cried like a baby watching this episode. So glad i gave this show a chance
I like how frank didnt judge ian for marrying a man but a Milkovitch
Frank's body being highly flammable at the end was the cherry on top lmaooo
The most unrealistic part of this ending is the fact that Frank somehow got into heaven lmao
He didn't actually, he went to hell
@@jakesagal7747 Why he floating up instead of down then
I think he does get to go to heaven because he wasn’t a malicious person. Yeah, he did some bad things, but he also did some good things. He did love his family, but he was an addict and alcoholic. Shows the duality of man.
There's an episode where Frank's deceased dad confirms heaven is actually down and hell is up. So he is headed to hell.
@@paigeh1670what episode is that
3:53 Love that Frank literally went out with a bang at the end lol
This made me want to cry when he got to Liam
i like how it ended the same way it started. sad the show is over. i genuinely really liked frank when he didn’t completely suck. he was one of my favorite characters.
rip Frank Gallagher 🕊- legend in the worst ways lol! hate to love him. happy belated birthday to william macy as well (and noel fisher)- brilliant actor. :)
Are we forgetting that Ian technically isn’t Frank’s & that’s probably where he got his work ethic from😂
work ethic doesn't come from genetics though?
He didn’t mention his daughter Samantha in the letter either
Same Gallagher gene pool.
I dont know why but when Frank was having those flashbacks i really liked that they included Steve in there as well.
Nostalgia
All I can say is damn! I’m gonna miss that show...
I take the ending as “hell didn’t want him so it spat him back out” 😂
the song played at the end was the song that was played at the end of the first episode of the serie :(
Wish the writing didn't fall apart. Used to adore this show
I've started to watch "shameless" back in 2011. The first episode I've watched it was by mistake but I ended up enjoying the show and never stopped watching it.
It's sad that ended but all the thing in life do... I've grown up with this characters , I've seen them grow up , I left my country 🇵🇹 and started a new life in other country 🇧🇷 and shameless always made me company. Always gonna remember this show.
