Fitting VB Semi Air Comfort Suspension to a Motorhome - the complete process and cost !!

- In January 2023 we went to A & E Leisure, Northwich in Cheshire, to have the first of our van modifications installed on our 2021 Mobilvetta K-Yacht 79. Mobilvetta motorhomes are mounted on a Fiat Ducato chassis. This chassis is used on a significant number of motorhomes across different brands/makers.
The modification was 'VB Semi Air Comfort' rear suspension.
We had looked at a number of products and had quotes from 4 companies that offer the supply and fit service. We chose A & E Leisure as their knowledge of the product and management of the 'choosing process' was excellent. James is the man to ask for as he knows the products inside out. Their price was competitive and we hadn't personally found a better quote in December 2022 when we were planning the addition.

@@motorhomingadventures I was a bit worried I didn’t want to end up with a rock hard ( sports car) effect and Iam glad I got the front end done bearing in mind it’s a brand new motor home so I’ve kept the struts and springs just in case but already It feels very good I would go as far to say it feels more responsive, plus I’ve invested in a porch ( blow up) for the side which attaches to the side blind . I’ve mentioned to Nathan and Roger ( the boss) YOUR the reason I’ve driven all the way from Kent , when your up next week I’ve told them they need to discount you ! . Next jobs will be another additional solar panel plus bar B Q connection and maybe rear sock absorbers .

Just had my Roller Team motorhome upgraded at A&E . They fitted VB Semi air and FSD front Struts with Comfort Springs. I can’t recommend this. Company enough, they are fantastic nothing is too much trouble for them. Truly professional in every aspect.

I have now driven about 500miles since my new suspension was fitted by A&E leisure. The ride and handling is much improved. I have travelled across motorways and some very uneven road surfaces. I would recommend this upgrade .

Yes, I spoke to them last week and told them u wanted to book after watching your video and the care etc they showed in the way they carried out the work.

I have a Roller Team Pegaso 740, which is very similar to yours. I have the E&P leveling system fitted and I would highly recommend, I can list the benefits other than the ease of pitching up. I also have the Air ride fitted on the rear and have just upgraded to the VB Comfort springs on the front so that I could update to 4000kg. Have to say that the Comfort springs have made the biggest improvement to the ride quality.
Thanks for watching Gary and that’s v interesting re the comfort springs and you’ve got the lot on that 740. We looked at the 740 in some depth but the lead in time was months so we got the Mobi instead!!

Many thanks for that and that’s the Truma App which runs all things Truma in the van and has the levelling app built in - it connects via Bluetooth or SMS via the iNet box in the van.

Many thanks Richard and there is a moho levelling function on the Truma heating app (the one I use to send texts to the van to activate the heating/water) and that’s what I was using. It has a ‘sun direction’ function too for when you’re setting up your moho parking on site. Good little app 😁

Great Video guys , Pilote not not recommend using these with Laminated leaf springs , not sure how many motorhomes use these , another sub grade addition in the rush to 3.5 kg vans

That’s the Truma app that connects to the van, via the iNet Bluetooth module in the van, and allows control of heating and water plus the levelling and sun direction and other bits.

Hi, does fitting this system increase the axle limit capacity?
I've got a Ducato based Burstner and the current max load for the rear axle is 2000kg, do you know what the bags you fitted are rated at?
Hi Ian and thanks for watching. That question is beyond my pay grade in terms of up-weighting your Ducato. However I do know that AE Leisure, and I, would recommend you give SV Tech in Lancashire a ring is that is exactly their area of expertise in all things upweighting - they know the VB products well and would be able to answer that question specifically for your Ducati based Burstner

Hi David,
Thanks for watching and yes it’s a better ride at the rear of the van. It’s also much better in cornering - not that I drive fast - but there’s much less roll as you turn into bends. I’ve been running at 2psi since getting it but I may do some tests to try more and /or less to see what that’s like too. As it handles the bumps better the noises are less, proportionately, too. I guess we’ll never completely eliminate rattles etc from kit in the van which doesn’t really bother me anyway.

Many thanks Demon Warrior and thanks for watching. It’s around 60 to 70mm which doesn’t sound much but on our recent 6 week run in France we only used the Milenco plastic ramps twice as the ability to lower one side or lift the other or work both sides in unison enables you to get a pretty good levelling function on lots of pitches. It also handy if pitch is sloping for levelling the van left to right before say going up a couple of notches on the Milenco’s.
The van handling is greatly improved too - less wallow/roll in the corners.
You’ll love it.
Going to see a full EP levelling system install this week so will probably film that too - i can dream!! 😁🚌
@@motorhomingadventures thanks for the swift reply I’m hoping for about 30 to 50mm lift on the back as it bottoms out going up our drive. Looking forward to the video of EP levelling if you are able to film. Regards John
You’re very welcome John - used it on the ferry and on a couple of steep camp site roads which worked a treat. On ours it sort of reaches its max around 4 bar or just under but that works and should give you the 30-50mm 🤞🚌🎉
Hi we had the VB semi air comfort fitted, it’s given me about 100mm of lift at the very back of MH so it doesn’t bottom out on the drive now very happy with it. The drive is so much better too , many thanks John

Who fitted and what was the process like?
Hello both, hope you’re okay. Remember my last text to you. Saying we were going to LNB towbars in Bristol To have are semi air suspension fitted. Which we had booked in October last year in the Nec motorhome show. We got there on the Sunday 29th of January late afternoon ready for 8 o’clock booking on Monday. We both had a lovely Chinese takeaway in the motorhome really looking forward to having the work done. Another motorhome turned up to have all the self-levelling systems fitted to it, lovely people, we talked for quite awhile. In the morning 8 o’clock we were invited into the office. He gave us the keys for the courtesy car, which was £10 and refilled after we brought it back. ROSE and I were chuffed to bits. Couldn’t wait to get started. Then the lady came out and said could you come into the office, I thought there was something wrong, my driving license number for the courtesy car. You’re not gonna believe this. She told me we haven’t got the parts to fit your Air suspension. She apologised as much as she could so I said to her. This was booked from October last year. So I went outside to let some steam off, and spoke to ROSE, and we both decided, give us our deposit back and some compensation for our time and fuel. After over a week, phoning them for our deposit back, we finally got it. But nothing for the lose of time and fuel travelling there and back. I will never cross their doorstep again. Well it looks like we’re going to A&E leisure.

Yes that is the Truma app that I use to remotely operate the Combi 6E boiler. It has a couple of very useful extra features on it too including the levelling.
