  • It’s possibly the biggest investment after buying the van itself, a hydraulic self levelling system is a major expense but is it really worth the trouble of having it fitted to a campervan or motorhome?
During 2023, we decided that having one of these systems installed on our Autotrail Tracker motorhome would make a great modification for a number of reasons with stability when parked on a pitch being the most important. Having carefully looked into the various options on the market including E&P, MA-VE, HPC and TESA, we decided that LNB Towbars and accessories located on the outskirts of Bristol was right for us.
So, after 6 months of living with our choice, did we get it right? Was the expense worth it? To find out you will have to watch the video review!
Have you considered fitting one of these systems or perhaps you already have? What do you think, is it worth the expense? Are levelling ramps a good alternative and of course much cheaper?

This looks a lot more convenient than doing it manually.
I like that you shopped about and were unbiased with the review. ❤

Very interesting. We were blessed in that the previous owner of our van installed an AL-KO self levelling and air suspension system which completely replaced the original suspension. It’s all controlled by remote in the cab area and as well as the levelling feature, gives a smooth ride while driving. I think I prefer our system because I have a head like a sieve - and would almost certainly forget to retract the legs if I had your setup.

Hi and thanks for the comment!
Your set up sounds fabulous, especially the air suspension all around, I bet it’s like sitting on a cloud.
The HPC system has a failsafe, which activates when you take the handbrake off, so if the legs are down, all four are attracted at super quick speed to protect the system from getting damaged. It was one concern we had when looking for a system like this and we really wanted to know that causing damage to it was not easily done. Plus there is a warning light on the dashboard that illuminates when the legs are down.
Again, thanks for watching and commenting, all the best!
      Zoe and Malish.

@@BonjourMotorhome Yes the drive is very comfortable and we barely feel the bumps. The thing is, it’s the only camper van I’ve driven so I’ve no point of reference when comparing with normal suspension motorhomes.

      Hi,
Fully fitted was £5500 which sounds a lot but it can be transferred from one vehicle to another for £1300.
We think it is well worth the money and wouldn’t be without it now.
      Cheers,
      Zoe

Of course the most important job the system does is make sure the wine in your glass doesn't get spilt! 😂
