      No doubt! Met him at an Airport in 2012. He stopped and took pictures with my entire Army Reserve unit.
      He even took out some Super Bowl rings and let some of us wear them in pics!! I was the first one to get his picture and didn't want to hold him up. Then everyone in my unit knew he was Jerry Rice 😂. They stopped him but he didn't mind at all.

    Jerry Rice is hands down ,the greatest wide receiver I've ever seen. He was a great route runner;he had phenomenal hands...he rarely dropped a pass that hit him in his hands...and he was a great blocker and teammate. Very humble for a super star.

      I remember reading an article about special forces training instructors (who were WW2 combat veterans). The trainee had expected the instructors to have really nasty voices. But instead, they were calm, spoke softly but clearly, and were always teaching. Just non-stop teaching, with patience and good humor.
      Hollywood just makes us believe that "bad-asses" have to talk a certain way, screaming, ranting. That's just useless posturing by guys trying to aspire to leadership but are merely covering up their inadequacies. A true "bad-ass" doesn't have to posture. He simply *is*.

    The most important factor to catching the ball, and Jerry Rice agree's, is watching the ball into your hands. This is a fundamental technique that is often overlooked and separates the winners from the ball droppers.

    Catching bricks made your hands strong, Jerry. That's why you can catch the ball with your fingers, without letting it bounce off your palms. You're sort of right, but you discount the strength you built up catching bricks, even though catching a football is different technique.

  • @jacobtupua6158
    @jacobtupua6158 12 лет назад

    I read that article many years ago in Reader's Digest. He didn't say he learned how to catch footballs by catching bricks. He stated that it helped strengthen his hands. He would work summers with his dad, who was a brick layer and his dad would toss him bricks, which he would catch and toss to the next person. It's called a "brick brigade".

    To validate your point, when the 49ers played the Broncos in the Super Bowl, rice caught a touchdown where he bounced off of Bronco safety Steve Atwater to get into the end zone. I bring this up as validation because the 49ers knew that the Broncos were not a tackling secondary; they were more concerned with hitting. Rice caught the pass, absorbed and bounced off Atwater's hit, and just about walked into the end zone with Atwater on the ground looking around for him.

    True, CJ is better than JR. But i believe that when CJ's career is over, JR will still stand as the best WR ever to play the game. Jerry was productive almost his entire career (20 yrs!!) and he played most of it in a league that wasn't quarterback-driven, unlike today. Meaning, CJ, like many other great WRs today, has had the advantage of playing in an era with, not only extremely talented QBs, but a league that favors the passing game as well. Let's see if CJ will ever have 22,895 rec yards.

    All great players are going to say they are the best. Rice was definitely the best and Moss is number 2 for sure, i cant say Moss was better than Rice but it would have been interesting to see what Moss could have done if he was catching passes from two of the greatest qbs of all time in montana and young, and you see what Moss did when he finally played with a hall of fame qb.

      Kris Danielson I don't disagree, big fan of brady. just think Montana tops him. maybe its my bias, Montana's season by season stats probably don't best brady's, but its in the clutch when everything is on the line I think Montana shades it. if you had to pick a qb to make a final 80yards in the last minute and your life depended on it, I'm going Montana everytime. I don't now if the stat even exists, but it would be interesting to see who has the most last minute drives for victory in regular and post season especially. off the top of my head cannot think of another qb who has done that to win a superbowl, I think things like that add to the Montana legend.

In the modern era, Jerry Rice got those numbers playing in an era where there was no penalty for helmet to helmet hits or personal fouls for hitting a defenseless receiver. I don't think there's any real debate that Jerry Rice is the greatest of all time.
